I zoomed and I REGERET NOTHING!! Outstanding looking Excel!

Oh man, the pics didn't look so bad from my cell phone, but I'm looking at the pics on a larger computer screen (which is bigger than the model itself) and I missed SO MUCH STUFF....yikes, the overlapping decals, a lot of paint runs (capillary run from the panel liner under the decals).

It doesn't look nearly as bad when viewed in person.....from a meter a way, lol!

@peter I had the Nichimo 1/200 Yamato back in the day, but sold it. The ABS plastic is NOT easy to work with or cement! What a pain! I had the brass barrels and PE too along with Janis' book. It was a beautiful ship though! - MT

On my workbench, 1/48 DYRL Minmay v2 with 1/60 Xigfrid's bike.

I have a mask on the canopy, hope it comes off okay.

Below was v1. I got more details to pop out, like the shoulder sleeves, and a more dynamic pose. Even tried some wet blending.

I much prefer this over Elf on a Shelf.

Gantz right?  Watched a version on Netflix a while back, all CGI.  Pretty entertaining.  The costumes though, lol!  Not complaining.

It's from "Gantz", and that's pretty much all I know.

Looking forward to see your M+ bike.

Siren has the full set of armor now, I just need to do some touch ups on the shield.

I still haven't gotten around to watching this series yet, but that looks fantastic!

 it's all good bro; it's a survival skill I picked up when I realized how much it would cost me to try lighting mine.

My process:

@electric indigo Cool! Though I don't trust ladies with swords:lol: The Siren is looking great!

@pengbuzz That's some AWESOME Photoshopping! Looks like Starfleet is escorting the Yamato out of orbit before they get into a franchise war!🤣 And that Enterprise slick sheet looks awesome too! - MT

I did it again - though I wrote somewhere back in this thread I would not repaint a DX ever again. But I couldn’t stand the look of my poor yellowed YF-25 and felt I had to do something about it. Use of peroxide was no option. Good thing I had already knowledge concerning disassembly and scratch sensitive parts.

The color scheme was an easy choice: VF-31A Kairos. It took me a couple of weeks as I did not have much free time for modeling but finally it’s done:

YF-25 Xaos Gamma Flight 01

Before repaint (in reality the white parts are much more yellowed than in the picture and on the lower side, too)

OK, I don't remember much of Mac F and don't know a thing about Mac D, but the repaint looks way better than the original paint scheme.

Thank you both! I'm still a fan of the original colors of the YF-25 but as well of this much more military looking style of the Kairos. And I appreciate the matte finish of the VF-31 DX toys. With panel lining and decals the YF-25 now has the look of a premium finish version of a Macross F DX toy. I would like to do that to my other Macross F Valks, too, but unfortunately a complete painting has a negative impact on transformation. Perhaps if I can grab an already yellowed toy at a favorable price I'd do another re-painting again. Somehow I find a liking in it.

@CrossAir That is an awesome repaint. I do like the prototype colors of the Prophecy, but when you got the change to change it up might as well take it!

@CrossAir  GREAT repaint on that 25!!!

Thank you guys, too! I just checked on my oldest DX toy, that's Lucas' RVF-25 and it shows slight yellowing, too.  Now I think it'll look cool with its radar dish painted in grey colors. Especially in combination with its three drones. Could be a nice project during xmas holidays 😁

So I ended up re-painting my bird after decaling because the gloss coat really darkened the panel wash and weathering too much. Luckily I still had my paper masks for the pattern, so I re-applied a light thinned mixture of the paints overall to lighten up the panel details so they are more subtle. You can hardly even see that there were 60-70 tiny data stencil decals applied over 2 days. Don't like AK paints, they don't stick well (without primer) - a few spots lifted with Tamiya paint and canopy frame had some spots that lifted (never happens with Tamiya acrylic or Mr. Color)

IMG_2892.JPG.625b16fecaaeb6ad99054e271cd86356.JPGIMG_2894.JPG.035df2d5071b0ba939aa6090849eb63e.JPGIMG_2895.JPG.f18be6ef45a9615228153b7f461703c3.JPGIMG_2896.JPG.d5e340fd975f4872de7af900a8f37806.JPG

Finally after carefully repainting the entire thing to lighten the weathering and panel lines... I get to a less cartoony version of the Eagle.  Must say USAF do keep their birds cleaner than Navy.  Hate re-doing stuff I've already done.  Next time, don't use G.W.H. decals - they are either incorrectly sized or wrong hues/grey.

Tried a little metal/burnt tarnishing with metallic pencil crayons (blue, purple and yellow) - looking at Flankers for too long 😛

That looks amazing, pretty sweet Eagle.

I haven't mastered metallic paints out of my airbrush, and still struggle with it quite a bit.

@peter Easy, just use Alclad Metallic Laquers, its pre-thinned and easy - just have to prep the surface and make sure its smooth first.

@CrossAir Thanks.  I hate doing anything twice through.

Just a random unnamed pinup character from the cover of chapter 069. R, you did a great job with the colors even if the skin tone is too light for the tanned beauty. 😛
