Erm.... I don't have kids. o.o

Yeah; it's a 1:1 scale MS "Natural" Keyboard mode kit by Microsoft. After getting it, I decided it looked too "toylike" and proceeded to weather it with artist's pastels, graphite pencil, acrylic paint, barbecue sauce, plastic welder, mustard, ketchup, charcoal pencils, magic marker, a few dabs of model cement and my own grubby fingers:

I then sealed it with about 20-30 layers of clearcoat, chapstick, hairspray and the oils from my fingers. I'm really proud of this custom; it's the "centerpiece" of my collection. :p

absolutely love your keyboard customization!

BTW: did I mention that the keyboard has a Gerwalk mode?

this is the best thing I've seen in a long long time! I want a keyboard with a gerwalk function now too! :p  :good:

Today's plan... use leftover 1/72 Bandai Star Wars greeblies decals to add micro detail to the carriers and SDF-1!.. Stay tuned!

I think it works.  Staying tuned.

I magnetized the arms and torso on the Yellow Sub Defender to allow me to mess with more dynamic poses and maybe down the road some new arms with UUM missile packs and Gatling guns.

The Spray booth has become an overcrowded temporary hangar so quite a lot to get done today.

Well... this kit was a battle worthy of Breetai... LOL.. but I'm very proud of how it came out. As many know this kit has been something I've wanted to do properly for some time since building the first one as a kid back in the 80s. There were many many setbacks, but I like the end result of all the hard work.  I took some liberties with some things to add a bit of pop and detail to an otherwise kind of spartan kit. Enjoy the pics!

...I've made a lot of special modifications myself...

Woohoo!!!  I finally managed to get the two halves together.  Spent a lot of time routing the various wires and fibre optics around to they do get caught in the big attachment pegs and then covered a tin foil dome on the inside of the saucer to keep the light reflecting around and minimize light leaks out (even though I did spray the interior black).

Amazing set of PE parts - these landing gear baffles are a must even at this scale!

I tried to drill some holes to allow some light to spill out of the landing gear wells to dimly light the gears from all the bounce form the tin foil dome.

Just gotta add some of the landing gear hoses still...

It's too bad that the photo doesn't show off all the little lights and controls through the gun port walls because the rear tunnel is so bright.

You can hardly see all the work I did into that cockpit now :(

I embedded a magnet to to activate a "reed" switch inside to turn on the red landing markers and ramp entry light when I put in the open landing ramp, when I take it out and replace it with the closed ramp, the red marker lights and entry ramp light goes out.

That extra curved door at the end of the entrance tunnel really adds to it!

Gotta work on that radar dish and a last pass at the weathering with some scraps and I can almost call it done!

Not sure if I'll ever need to do my 1/72 Fine Molds kit... :p

Great move with the magnets NZEOD. I did the same with my 1/350th valk. Gotta watch those drills. Now we know why you're not NZMARKSMAN:D Hopefully you didn't feel it!

Congrats Derex! That came out great! The decals may not be canon, but they do add a nice touch. Meanwhile mine is calling out to me from the basement, but I'm so busy, I have to ignore it!

That build came out awesome William! The photoetch and fiber really add realism and dimension to the Falcon. Take away the background and it could pass for a movie prop!

Nothing major to photograph this week. Too busy catchin up with school! - MT

Just posted this over on SSM too.

The hero zombies for my WWII zombie diorama are finished, for the most part.  The reds are not nearly as bright as they appear in these images.  I am not a photographer and am not sure why my camera is doing that.

Lots of amazing work here.

The Falcon rocks. It looks right out of the movie. And very gentle work with the lighting. Not too much, not too little.

Love the old school SDF-1. I prefer its lines to the Hasegawa. I've been waiting for the Hase Battle version for a lighted SDF-1, but now I'm thinking to go old school.

Whats the best recommended SDF-1 kit with similar look to Derex's? I would rather it was smaller than 1:3000.

The ONLY TV  SDF-1 model kit is the 1/5000 I built and the 1/8000 version which I have never actually seen.  Your only other choice is the fake Hase version they released which is the DYRL version with the carriers changed I think.

So there is no 1/5000 TV Storm Attacker kit?

There is, but the proportions look off. Almost like it's using forced perspective; the booms are kinda thin, the feet kinda big. I have one that I got off eBay partially completed, and am thinking of unloading it, if you're interested.

I also scored a 1/8000 cruiser. I'm considering switching to that scale to save on space; along with a shift from 72 to 144. My hobby area is only about 13' x 9', including bench, storage & all this other crap I've gotta sell on the Bay.

Either that or I wait for Hasegawas TV Storm Attacker to do this:

Yeah, if Hasegawa makes a TV Attacker, I'll probably get it. I think the 8000 scale will be good for size comparison with other ships, but may leave me wanting something a little bigger.

I have 2 Hasegawa TV cruisers (with the original intent to mod one into attacker). I'm just not sure if I want to move forward with that size.

Mine was custom built, due to lack of funds.

Maybe someday when I have money again I'll try one. I bet the booms could be beefed up a bit with some styrene.

To be honest: I wonder if someone could cross a 1/8000 cruiser with a 1/8000 storm attacker and make a transforming version?
