Sweet little nest of hornets, perfect paint job bro.

And the Starbuck Viper is pretty cool too, I will build this kit one day......soon.

I'm looking forward for more of your gun platform Wip shoot Indi, good references to use in the futur ;)

Totally awesome Pegasus and Hornets! Got this in the mail today and just tried it out repainting the vipers nose. $30 on Amazon guys....do yourself a favor...get one. No more headaches and general feeling like crap after airbrushing enamels over here. It works great. Couldn't smell a hint of paint. Wish I had done it years ago.attachicon.gifimage.jpg

Hi! Could you post the link for this mask on Amazon? I'd like to purchase one!

Aaaaaargh

Just as I was ramping up my modeling work, my 25-year-old Paasche compressor died just as I had begun a paint job. Looks like I can get another one on Craigslist, but it will take me a few days at least.

How long is too long to leave Tamiya masking tape on my (enamel) painted model? A few days or a week should not damage the paint underneath, right?

Not that I'd recommend it, but I've left Tamiya tape on a futured canopy for over a year, with no ill effects. A few weeks should be no problem.

The 1:18 Back to the Future 3 Delorean (by Sun Star) is a fine item, but the railroad base that came with it was poorly made. It looked too much like a plastic base stand that it is.

This started a small project to build a custom railroad track base that was more realistic that would also fit into my Detolf case. The rails are from the display, but the wooden ties are made with real wood. Scale correct ballast was used for the roadbed. So...it's ready to go back to October 27th, 1985!

As many around here know some months back I started on my first attempt at a lighted model....an enterprise D clear kit that failed miserably so I spent another $50 on another kit and put it in the closet until I decided it was time to try again. I have a couple of new ideas to try, so today i needed something REALLY positive to start out, so I decided to pull out one of the engines I had actually painted on the original and attempt some of the aztek decals so I could get a sense of how hard it was going to be ....here is the result. With enough time it is going to be astonishing....

...going to need to buy Micro Sol by the gallon for this....LOL!

Nice!!

Here are some teaser pictures of her nearly complete alternate ancestor! Better quality, complete pictures should be real soon! Just very happy this "project" is so close to being finished. I used replacement registry decals that are available for this kit that also included alternate marking decals. I like the refit style markings on the lower saucer as I felt the actual CG model is to blank there and the NCC-1701 on the underside of the secondary hull was too much, so I went with this set up. I like it better. :)

"...Gotta go back in time-ime..." Nice looking Delorean Ron. A "newer" version with the hoverboards would be cool too!

Enterprising works guys! Nice decal work Derex! That looks like it's painted on; smooth move! The finish looks great Dobber! It will be great to see some HD photos when you get them.

While waiting on the weather to cool down and humidity to clear up, I've been doing some machining. The Bronco 1/350th models have the best detail of any 1/350th styrene kit I've seen yet! The Osprey looked so cool and had hollow parts, I couldn't resist gearing the pods from a central 4mm motor (the nacells only have 3mm internal clearance at the widest point). It's assembled now and the nacells still spin the prop shaft while transitioning between vertical and horizontal positions, but the gears are running rough every now and then, so I'm re-cutting them. At only 2mm in diameter, my problem is tolerances and strong enough magnification. - MT

I've had Tamiya masking tape on for a month and there wasn't an issue for me.

That is insane MechTech! I can't believe how tiny that is! Are you also a watchmaker? ;)

No He just has really big Coins that make everything he does look small. Except for the Daedalus, where he just has really tiny coins to make it look 6ft long.

:p

Congrats on the compressor ce25254, nice classic!

By the way, I've had Tamiya on for months at a time too (the Daedalus Ramp) and Scotch/3M on for over a year (also Daedlaus) with no residue left behind at all.

SHhhh! Don't give me secrets away Big F! Thanks guys! I've lost three gears on the floor forever and had to remake them. I've made several gears just practicing with several failures! If I was a watchmaker, I'd go broke! One set I accidently left too much travel in the shaft and the gears don't engage right. The other is smooth as silk, for three rotations or so until it sticks! And I can't see why because I need more magnification! I'm messing with doing some more cutting tonight. - MT

Not a fan of the design, but I AM a fan of your work Dobber. Awesome!

I guess its update time. So I'm now on CF-18 #3 and #4. For your sanity (Since mine is long gone at this point) I'll only post one photo. This one has all the modifications I planned to make: full intake trunking, both leading and trailing edge flaps deployed, (with metal covers) and scratchbuilt cockpit.

Some cooler things. I'm building a Korean War C-47 (I don't think I posted this before... apologies if I have):

7J1_zps90680669.jpg

7J2_zpsab66d3b9.jpg

I hand painted the number and plane name by hand.

7J3_zps71c7b222.jpg

I've actually got its landing gear and cowlings on. I just need to attach the props and external details like wiring and the like. Oh and some metal framing on the canopy.

I'm also building two A6M2 Zeros; the Fine Molds and Tamiya boxings. Basically, these are two of the best models in 72 made... ever. The amount of detail is astounding and they go together fantastically.

I'll have better photos later. That's all for now.

Thank you.... to answer your question its 1/72... I've got a scale addiction, so its that and only that.

Mine's the ESCI kit, which is very similar to the Italeri one, but with a different set of advantages and disadvantages. I've heard great things about your version, so I'm sure you'll have a great time with. I'd suggest you look into a nice set of resin engines like I did which are a problem with both kits.
