Papa Rat Posted Tuesday at 09:11 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:11 PM (edited) Currently working on the “iron type” Glaug, but have this old kit on the way. Anyone here familiar with this Quel-Quallie scout model? I’m on a huge Zentraedi kick lately Edited Tuesday at 09:20 PM by Papa Rat Quote

Definitely want to see a bunch of pictures of this one Quote

nightmareB4macross Posted Wednesday at 03:35 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:35 AM We’re getting there. A few more details like the Battroid Controls Room, detailing, connecting points, and massaging to smooth it all out. So close I can smell the primer. Quote

Urashiman Posted Wednesday at 08:32 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 08:32 PM (edited) guys ... you all do awesome stuff. I feel inferior. BUT - I did a thing. I needed AIM-120 for my F-14D. So ... I made them. 3D Model The print - 3 of the noses stuck to the resin basin, so only 9 rockets. And here in action on the F-14. The details are too fine - so I think I have to redo the model. The panel lines and rivets don't really show... Edited Wednesday at 08:34 PM by Urashiman Quote

Papa Rat Posted Friday at 03:16 AM Posted Friday at 03:16 AM @derex3592Wow, thanks so much for the post. I agree with what @Big s said. This kit looks way better than I had imagined. It’s next up on my bench after the Glaug. I’ll take a bunch of photos as I progress through the build. I have been trying to hunt down the remaining ARII fleet but the resale on those ships is very high so it’s hard to purchase right now. I’ll keep looking and hope I find a deal. Quote
derex3592 Posted Friday at 11:35 AM Posted Friday at 11:35 AM Picked up this 3D printed 1:72 scale aircraft fully adjustable stand on Amazon for $35 on sale. Will definitely make life easier! The Strike Eagle 🦅 is almost ready for prime time! Should be able to finish it up this weekend! Quote

derex3592 Posted Friday at 03:17 PM Posted Friday at 03:17 PM @Papa Rat - Thanks! It's been a GREAT kit! (minus the ridiculously waaaay to thin decals) As you are on a Zentradi kick.....I've got something you're GOING to want to see later on, hahaha...It's BIG and green! I got it years ago from a resin kit guy down in Australia...I'll post some pics this weekend. We just had flooring and painting done inside our house over the spring, so I'm just now getting around to carefully unpacking all my older kits and getting them back out on display with minimal snapped of little parts which I'm repairing as I go..... Stay Tuned! Quote

Stay Tuned! Congrats on a remodel. House updates never end. My wife has a list on our fridge with everything we need to work on and it feels great when we get to cross off a completed project. A basement remodel is next. Can’t wait! I need to buy a proper display case eventually. My completed builds are stacking up and sadly live in their boxes and never see the light of day 😔 I’m excited and intrigued about what you are going to share. Look forward to it. 👍 Quote
Urashiman Posted Friday at 04:40 PM Author Posted Friday at 04:40 PM (edited) Did a quick build this morning. I am not really into figurines anymore, but my kid lives Basara. So I got the minimum factory one. The eye decals are super tiny. I am glad I got them aligned to an acceptable degree. My kid was especially interested in the guitar. It is a really straight forward build. No snap-fit though. You need glue. I was too lazy to paint and my kid to impatient for paint, so it is a „Vanilla“ build. The sprues afterwards. Finished model. And… next up? @Thom uhm… well. Mhmm… *professional head scratching commences* @Papa Rat thanks! Edited Friday at 04:49 PM by Urashiman Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted Friday at 05:49 PM Posted Friday at 05:49 PM Doing a bit of stippling to find surface issues. There is a lot of work to be done here. Quote

Maybe I’m a freak, but I like the whole putty, sand, prime, sand, putty, prime, paint loop. It just feels good once it all comes together. I work it like a meditation. Maybe having a kid has honed my ability to be patient and work patiently? Lol Quote

Thom Posted Friday at 11:15 PM Posted Friday at 11:15 PM Gonna get the whole band,@Urashiman! Getting real close there @nightmareB4macross. I can hear the Klingon dirge already, @pengbuzz! Quote
Papa Rat Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago (edited) Round two of putty and sanding along with closing off the feet “toes” with .5mm pla so they aren’t just an open void and also added some very rudimentary vents in the void areas on the back of the legs with more of the .5mm pla. Just very simple addition but I think it adds something where detail was lacking.🫤 Edited 22 hours ago by Papa Rat Quote

Basaras and Mylenes base are a Macross „7“. both of them together with the next thing to build in the background. Quote

Although Mylene is playing Bass, so maybe some thicker wires there. Even at that scale a four string will have them pretty noticeable Quote
