Yamato Sale @ HLJ (Finally!)

BlueMax

They wouldn't have been nearly as slick. But I really think they shouldn't as be. They should be about the same dimensions as a YF-21 with belly plates... maybe a bit smoother. Oh well, water under the bridge. My Gamlin is still my single most favorite valk.

So I got bored tonight and decided I would take out my 1/48 VF-1S Roy that I got on my first order from the sale.

Upon transforming it to Battroid mode I notice something is missing........

IMG_0035.jpg

Sorry, had to use my phone as my camera battery was dead

I wish Yamato would up the QC process.

I never even knew the verniers on the arms were seperate parts until tonight :(

I am going to contact HLJ and see if they can help me.

Epic. Just epic. It would be awesome if you could post a picture here of your total order once you get it with a health warning indicating heart attack upon viewing may occur.

Picked up my box last night, and I have to say I'm much more impressed with Yamato's 1/60 run than with the 1/48. Fiddled with my Max and Kaki 1As a little, and they're just as tight and solid as the first ones I got. Joint tightness on these seemed to lessen a little around the time the VF-1D and Max TV 1A were released, but that may be due to different types of plastic being used. Actually it's kind of funny... I almost preferred that run of slightly loose jointed ones, because I could actually get the landing gear down without any tools. laugh.gif

Also, happy to confirm, these DYRL strike pack issues of the 1As do have the new nose hatch design, and non-coated canopy, and I checked the shoulders just in case, but no trouble there.

As for the missing arm thruster, that sucks, but fortunately it's a very small and easy to replace bit. In fact, with Hasegawa making 1/48 kits now, you might actually be able to use something from those kits to fix it.

Nice. Though personally I enjoyed the coated canopies. Can't wait to get mine. Just checked the shipping notice with HLJ and it looks like they sent my two 1A's through EMS, and my TV Roy via SAL. Huh? I picked SAL for everything. Ah well. Whatever.

AFAIK, if an item reaches a certain size and price (approx. 200 USD and above, I think), HLJ will ship via trackable option (usually EMS) no matter what you choose. Apparently, it's to ensure that the item gets to you safely.

BTW, it's great to know that the DYRL VF01A's are improved versions! Are the boxes different in any way?

Thanks, I didn't know that. Probably for the best.

I don't know if I would call them different per se, since these are brand new issues. I got Max and Kakizaki strike bundles, which are both new releases, so the boxes are brand new styling. Style-wise, they look about the same as the TV Roy packaging.

Thanks, Chronocidal. It'll be a while before I can afford to pick them up (just bought a Ghost Booster and Macross display stand, on top of the YF-19 renewal package and TV Kakizaki), but it's good to know they're safe to buy.

I think I am in for a VF-0 and want to know whether to get the S or the A?

They are both reissues I gather.

The A is not a Shin type right? Does the shin type really have any more differences other then a red helmet and white lines on the plane? Any other Tampo as compared to the regular vf-0a?

What looks more imposing on the shelf?

They A appeals to me because it is cheaper at the moment, but perhaps the S has charms that I need to know about?

please help me!

thanks

Besides the added stripes, "pilot number" and different pilot fig for the Shin type, the VF-0A Shin and "Unknown Soldier"/CF had slightly different tones of gray:

0A%20Shin%2010.jpg

Basically, AFAIK, the two are identical design-wise. To date, only the VF-0S and VF-0A "Unknown Soldier"/CF have been reissued. BTW, there's currently no news or even rumor of a reissue/renewal package for the Shin type, and the latest available one (the one that comes with the Ghost Booster) has received less than favorable reviews from Scorched Earth.

As for the -0S, I guess its most obvious charm is the fact that it was piloted by a young Roy Focker.

Up till now I have been collecting yamato 1/48's VF-1's. I allready oredered a reissue packaging 1/48 VF-1S from HLJ last week.

Now I'm looking for a more exotic 1/60 yamato from macross plus or macross zero, which mold is the best quality wise?

Hey when you get your renewal version, can you leave a comment on quality?

Mine is missing one of the vernier thrusters and when I pulled out of the box there was a massive gap on the left side

where the body and the intake are supposed to come together and would not hold together properly and wants to pop

apart.

I like the YF-21/VF-22S. If looking for something from the Zero line try the VF-0S re issue. I have the old issue VF-0A/VF-0S with ghost booster combos so I am not sure how the QC is on the new VF-0x's

Damn it all to hell...I bought both and a Nora as well. I love my Ivanov so much (despite an exploded thigh now repaired) and I have a suspicion that Yamato will never release the SV-51 again so I picked up a cheap Nora as well.

uh...I need to work some overtime...

Heheh, the potato chip theory always applies in a Valk collector's life. ;)

FedEx estimated delivery date: 12/14/2010

Actual delivery on 12/13/2010... sweeeet!

Officially joined the 1/60 V2 owner's ranks. First impressions are very favorable; the Vermillion Squadron looks great. These are very nice looking renditions of the venerable VF-1; but I must admit that the 1/48's fighter mode appeals to me quite a bit more: the size, longer nose, and somewhat sleeker proportions - despite the lower-hanging stowed arms.

If it hadn't been for the 40% off on these and the 1/2 price shipping I would not have gotten them; as it is though, I'm quite happy to have made the purchase... problem is that now I'll just have to eventually get a Focker 1S, and a 1D, and CF,and a VT-1, and.... Ouch!... my wallet just kicked me...

That normally happens... so prepare your wallet for some serious drainage of $$..... and welcome to the club of yamato 1/60 V2 VF-1 owners
