I did the same. I fixed the reaction missiles, Rankas Lala to rirameru rarameru ran rura ran,Griffith park as well the "Delta 1 to Skull 1",also tried to fix some spelling errors and what not.

I also included the fronts with the zip

MacrossFrontier Movie - Sayonara No Tsubasa Version 2.ass.zip

Yea I did the same too. I didn't bother with the song lyrics though. I changed some of their misspellings, translation errors (like calling Griffith Park Griffithburg, or Macross Cannons Quantum Cannons, etc).

Also, I changed how Alto's final lines plays out in the subtitles.

How do these work with commie's hardsubbed version?

I actually used Matroska Demux Tool and mkvmerge GUI to take out the subs on there MKV video and add my own. Also if you have a raw you can use the mkvmerge to add these subs, with the fronts I included.

Okay, I found Xvid4PSP and it did the job just fine. Although it took 6 1/2 hours, I managed to hardcode the subtitles onto an .mp4 in 720p format (file size came in just under 1.7 GB). Works like a champ on the PS3. I didn't really notice much in the way of quality loss, due to the re-encoding necessary to hard-code. You'd have to have a very sharp eye to even notice the difference, if any. Even though it takes a long time, Xvid4PSP gets my thumbs-up.

I may start working on hard-subbing M-Zero eps soon.

Definitely going to see about ripping some of the non-album music from the film. At least that acapella Northern Cross. That really caught me off guard and blew me away (it's been my favorite fast Sheryl song for ages). At least, I don't remember it being on there, it's been awhile since I listened to it.

I didn't even recognize it at first. It's a song so much faster and more heavily accompanied than Diamond Crevasse that this was a huge change by comparison.

Hilarious since I literally just set it. ^_^ For some reason that just popped into my head while at the market.

Thanks.

Hardsubbed as in .avi? You can't then, as you wouldn't be able to remove the old subs. On an mkv, you can remux or just tell MPC to use the external. That's easily done by putting it in the same folder with the same filename (minus the extension of course).

Commie Subs only released a Matroska version, so it's technically soft-coded. As I mentioned earlier, I only recently managed to figure out how to hard-code the subs onto an .mp4 for use on a PS3 or whatever else I want to play it on. Took my computer 6 1/2 hours to do it, but it worked!

As Merc said, just name the subtitle file the same exact name as the movie file name and both MPC and WMP will play that sub track alongside the movie.

Speaking of MPC vs. WMP, I've noticed that MPC is not as finicky, but it seems to display my movies at a brighter color saturation than WMP. For visuals, I prefer WMP right now... Does anyone else have this problem?

There is an avi remux of the Commie subs on TokyoTosho, so he very well could mean an hardsub.

For PS3 playback, I recommend streaming over a home network using PS3 Media Server. Works like a charm, and reencodes on the fly for you, subs and all. Though I personally wouldn't try it with a hi10 1080p movie like this on my setup. I played it with my usual HDMI connect to the TV (laptops, gotta love them).

I've never noticed that issue with MPC. Though I can't compare, as I haven't touched WMP since version 6 (when it was good and the basis for MPC, which is a considerably better player). It could be how you've got your codecs setup or the renderer that's selected. It can be easily overridden in the miscellaneous tweaks section of the options if you're using EVR or VM9.

And exactly as I figured, after about an hour of fiddling with a 1.2 gig 2-hour 5.1 FLAC file in Audacity, I finally rip the Northern Cross. After I get it how I like it and enjoy, I finally realize my Sansa is nearby so I don't need my external HDD to check it. Sure enough, it's on the album, as I just knew it had to be. What I get for only having listened to the medley once. Anyone interested in a version directly ripped from the film anyway? The reaction shouts do sort of go well with it. I'm going to rip Ranka's Teddy Bear song. It's a bit different from the album cut.

Ok guys, if you remember I hardcoded a 720p version of The False Diva when it came out, I just finished doing the same for Wings of Goodbye.

What I did:

PS3/XBOX compatible MP4.

Used the subs provided a few posts back on this very thread, so credit to you guys for the corrections.

Adjusted the subs size, they were too big for my taste.

Added drop shadows to the song subs, the colors were getting lost with the background.

There's a part where Ranka goes "Ai-kun!" followed by "did you save us?" or something, the "kun" was missing on the subs so I added them :p

If you have a problem with big files, this is not the version for you. My priority is high quality for both video and audio, otherwise I would not have bothered hardcoding this at all.

I take no credit for either source files, subs, or translations. All credit goes to the original posters.

I'm working on a 1080p version with multichannel audio for myself, if there's demand for it I could upload it somewhere, the problem is that my up speed is very limited, it takes me about 4 times the time to upload the file than what it takes me to encode it. Enjoy.

See above. You're about twelve hours too late. It's was interesting practice though. Audacity definitely hates working with something this huge a detailed. Since I've got this thing loaded up. Anything worth trying to rip? I seem to remember some wanting the music from Sheryl and Alto's first real meeting,

Also surprised to see just how sparse the rear channels are. I don't have a surround system on this setup, but it doesn't look like I'm missing much. Just about everything's in the front, especially the center.

And it's the best part of the medley. Shame the medley isn't as good as the version in the tv series

As a song it's not as good (still great though) but as audio side of musical drama? Beats the Nyan Nyan Medley, easily. Taken together with visuals the effort that went into synchronizing the visuals, the sound and drama together it is aweinspiring.

Excellent job Tobi. By the what program did you use to hard encode the subtitles. I tried using handbrake, but I notice it sometmes skips certian subtitles at certain times.

Thank you, I was wanting a version to watch on my 360, especially since I just got a HD tv.

Yea, I would agree with you on that. Since I listened to the OST long before watching the film, my opinion on it was "meh", but after watching the film, my opinion of it went up slightly, except for the Northern Cross part which went up a lot. I wish we could get a full or longer a capella of Northern Cross.

I'm reminded of how John Williams did separate arrangements of certain Star Wars music pieces. The version meant to be paired to the visuals, and a version that worked better as a purely musical piece. They appeared as extra tracks on one of those big Star Wars soundtrack collections back in the pre-digital days. Would be nice if they did something like that for the soundtrack. A special medley arrangement accompanying the version actually in the film.

I used Xvid4PSP, been using it for a long time. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/XviD4PSP
As I mentioned earlier, I also endorse Xvid4PSP. Didn't even notice any video quality degradation when hard-subbing onto an .mp4.
Thanks both of you. I download and trying it out. I need a new encoder since the last few updates of my Imtoo video converter, no longer supports custom subs. Edited by SkullLeaderVF-X

Actually, a lot of times, that's what we get in the first place. A lot of tracks are often edited to fit the scenes. Especially in TV anime where themes have to cover several scenes. I'd love to see more of Frontier's score actually put out there. There's also a few variations of the songs not out there.

I've ripped the music during Sheryl's flashback to meeting Alto. I'm currently seeing if I can do something about the volume shift towards the end.

So have anyone's impressions of the movie changed after multiple viewings? For better or for worse.

Speaking of missing music, there's a really awesome song that plays when Alto and Brera are fighting on Gallia IV that I'm pretty sure is not in any of the OSTs. I might have to rip it myself. I guess this is a bit OT since it's about the series.
