Lott Sheen
Besides the fact that MGS 3 did the whole halo jump insertion already. Jumping from a sr-71 is impracticable. If its flying at 85000 ft and at Mach 3 and you somehow survive with a clean landing. I highly doubt you'd be perfectly fine and ready for a combat mission. 1. it is possible to bail out of an SR-71 at 85K feet using a pressurised suit 2. I`m not suggesting that the PILOT bail out, I`m suggesting the character hitches a ride in the landing gear or a specially modified pod 3. Why would it have to be travelling at Mach 3? Just because it can? 4. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Excelsior Edited May 4, 2010 by Lott Sheen
Lott Sheen
Considering they tried making Vietnam shooters and they all bombed (is this a pun?), I doubt this will take place in that war. It's a tad too controversial and uncomfortable for many, not to mention the plethora of bad games that came out left a sour taste in many gamers' mouths, Well if controversy was a problem then why the hell was half of COD MW set in an analogue of Iraq??? I liked Battlefield Vietnam Edited May 4, 2010 by Lott Sheen
VT 1010
Well if controversy was a problem then why the hell was half of COD MW set in an analogue of Iraq??? I liked Battlefield Vietnam That's because it still wasn't Iraq. It was a generic Mideastern country, which is something has been used many different times by various games. Without delving into politics or anything, there is also a bit of a difference between the second war in Iraq and Vietnam. While it may be controversial, it doesn't hit the same sore spot as Vietnam. Let's also not forget that, like 24, Russians where the real culprits. And, again, it wasn't set inside of a real war; it was all completely fictional. Other than some superficial similarities, it didn't have anything to do with Iraq. Battlefield was the exception, not the norm.

COD MW obviously mirrored current conflicts America is involved in and was much more controversial than a game about a conflict 40 years old. Vepariga
the SR-71 blackbird is there because it was a black operations project way back when. Id say its a cutscene. Black Ops isnt like a SAS team, they are secretly covered and funded military projects. Edited May 4, 2010 by Vepariga
VT 1010
I disagree. COD MW obviously mirrored current conflicts America is involved in and was much more controversial than a game about a conflict 40 years old. The two wars had different impacts on American society. Both may be controversial wars, but Vietnam is still a touchy subject--even if it ended in the 70's. And I must reiterate that even if it resembled a current war, COD 4 still doesn't take place in that war. That's still different. If you want a controversial game that takes place in Iraq, this one clearly out-shines MW: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Days_in_Fallujah

CoryHolmes
I need someone to talk me out of joining EVEOnline. It looks like a fabulous amount of fun, with Chronic Backstabbing Disorder and all that. But I want to wait for TOR, which isn't due until next fall at the earliest. Help me, Macrossworld; you're my only hope!

To read Peter Tamte's description of the Atomic's goal and intent for the game, it seems more a tribute to the fighting men than a ploy to get controversy-fed-sales. Too bad their efforts and dedication would be wasted on its intended audience: largely comprised of a generation of fu*kwitted, apathetic, unappreciative, open-mouth-breathing morons, who just wanna see stuff git blowed up and pwned, duh-huh. eugimon
New Dragon Age DLC details announced: You now fight as the Darkspawn! The city of Denerim, jewel of Ferelden, girds itself for war. As a hurlock vanguard, you alone hold the power to make thralls of your fellow darkspawn and drive them into the heat of battle. Heed the archdemon's call--Denerim must burn! A look at an alternate history: what if your character had died in the Joining ceremony, and the Grey Wardens marched under Alistair's command instead? A standalone adventure in which you command genlocks, hurlocks, shrieks, and even the mighty ogres. Complete the module and unlock an epic Darkspawn item in DA:O and Awakening. Indeed, it did sound like more of an "interactive experience" and not so much a "game." I certainly respect its intent. Sadly, I think it does run the risk of being lost on the gaming public at large. Then again, the airport scene in MW2 was better received and understood than I thought. There's still hope. mikeszekely
Aperture Science: We do what we must because we can (Until May 24th) I wonder how that works for the PC Steam users. I assume that since I already have Steam, if I installed Steam on my Mac that the copy of Portal I already bought would still be playable on my Mac even if they weren't giving it away. shiroikaze
Has anyone played this game yet? Picked this game up couple weeks ago. Graphics looks kinda bland but Im lovin the combat in this game, John Woo style!! <img src="http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-resonance-of/63360" target="_blank">http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-resonance-of/63360</a> I thought it was intriguing at first but when I laid eyes on the gameplay, I was turned off by it. It's too ridiculous for me . That sounds like what I've been hearing. That if you buy a PC copy of a Steam game, you get the Mac version free, and the other way around too. It's one copy that works on both. Like the Blizzard games. I do what I must because I can: Yeah, I know Macs can "right-click", but I still find this very funny. Galactic Civilizations 2 EVE Online: left and quit like 3 times now, currently in quit status... debating reactivating account. Final Fantasy XI: also left and quit a few times, there was a recent worlds-merge so I think the game's days are numbered.

Vostok 7
When you get Alan Wake, did you get some free stuff or free content for buying the game? I got the collectors edition so I have a code to get the first DLC for free, but it's not coming out until July I believe is what I read. It also has some free stuff for your XBL avatar and some themes as well. Edited May 20, 2010 by Vostok
Scream Man
So this hit in Australia yesterday, and i think the US has had it for a few days. I think its a game deserving of its own topic; From what I have played so far this game will be one for the record books! The sheer scope of it is staggering, the gameplay is great (The weapon selection that doesnt pause the game is annoying) the story and voice acting kick ass, and there are just fun moments. Like riding along, seeing a guy takeing a piss on a cactus....and then get attacked by a mountain lion. Helluva way to go. ANyone else playing?
