Yep HLJ got it straightened out. They are really great. I just wish it was easier to communicate with them in a timely manner. But they have always done me right.

Oh is there any for those who live in the US to get the binders for covers?

I cant yet bring myself to break my Chronicles up into pieces.. but i imagine eventually they will start falling apart as they are designed to be taken apart. at that point I may binder them.

Never had a problem with HLJ, either in communication or sales.

Sure... doesn't HLJ have a listing for the binders themselves along with the issues? They did when I bought mine (didn't wanna get stuck in the same situation as last time, where binders became unavailable before I had all 5 I needed, so I got all mine right when I started). 'course, because the first issue comes with one, I ended up with nine binders when, AFAIK, I'm only supposedly going to need eight.

EDIT: Yep, they have binders listed as In Stock: http://www.hlj.com/product/DIGWMSP/Boo

- a lot of interesting tidbits about Ozuma's past and their current significance.

Mechanic: II UN 05A: Unified Forces Armaments: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MII

- as usual with MII stuff, it's quite light on detail.

Yep they have the regular binders. But there is a special binder to put all your COVERS in thats slightly bigger. I think its a japan exclusive or something. So did you separate yours out into binders ?

OH BTW they always get back to me. Sometimes i just sense a bit of language barrier in the responses. but i have nothing but love for this great company.

Dunno 'bout a binder for the covers... I've just been keeping them in an envelope because the only cover that actually mattered from the first edition was #50's, which had errata. I just cut that out and taped it to the back of one of my 1E binders.

Yeah, I've always separated mine out into binders... that glue that they use to hold the issues together isn't meant for the long haul.

Do you leave them as issues, or have a binder for each 'colored section' ? What do other people do?

Actually, there's a guide to the recommended sorting practice for Macross Chronicle in its binders in each issue... IIRC it's on the inside of the back cover. I sort everything into binders according to that sorting scheme and I use the provided tabbed separator sheets to keep sections that share a binder apart. I had my separator sheets laminated, the same way I did with the previous ed., so they hold up a bit better and there's no possibility of ink transfer between the two.

Yeah, I thought the note about "Dakedo Baby" was intersting... I always figured, though, that they credited it to Chie because she had a solo album coming out soon, and they thought, "Y'know, we'd better start promoting this somwhow..."

- again, a basic summary. Though, most interesting is the confirmation of who the "Ominous Bird" is.

Thanks for the binder info. Gonna have to order a few. My issues are definitely hard to dig through.

Not to mention I will probably print out sketchley's translations and holepunch then and put them in there too. Might be nice to know what is going on. :)

Just seems like sacrilege to take them apart.. but.. it seems that is what they are meant for.

Dare I say that not taking them apart is sacrilege?

It's an odd touch, for sure... in his B-Club 79 interview, Ken'ichi Yatagai elaborates on that a fair bit. The way he describes it, the UN Forces have an annual open, media-heavy audition/contest that they hold to choose the performer and song(s) that'll be that year's Minmay Attack if the military locates and engages any hostile Zentradi forces. The UN Forces in the Sol system also have their annual VF stunt-flying competition that's a major publicity event for them, and the winning pilots are the ones who end up in the idol propaganda role (this one's actually mentioned directly, early in the first episode).

Mechanic: Other 02A: VF-3000 Crusader: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#Other

- the stuff on the VF-3000B Bomber Valkyrie seemed awfully familiar. Turns out its exactly the same as in the original "Advanced Valkyrie" article (courtesy Macross Compendium) and the description in "Shouji Kawamori's Macross Design Works"...

Complete!

Mechanic: Other 10A: Vanquish Race Related Aircraft: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#Other

- I have the sinking feeling that this will be the only page that we get on MtR. That said, it provides a decent synopsis of the races, racers and VFs, as well as the story itself.

Episode: F17A & B: Macross F Eps. 17 "Goodbye Sister": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF

- one of the RM's highlights just how far the homages in MF go (though, with the example they give I'm tempted to say "inspired by" rather than an outright "homage"). Nevertheless, more interesting behind the scenes stuff. Especially Kawamori's later opinion!

Just curious, what is the meaning of "RM"?

Shorthand for 'Related Matter'.

When I headline my posts with "RM++ Project", I'm using it in the sense of 'the Related Matter +headlines +other things that grab my attention translation project' (with a nod to the VF-1X Double Plus from MtR ;) ).

And so far, aside from the Goods sheets, I've been managing to keep on top of them as they appear. Alas, I'm slipping further and further behind on the Glossary sheets...

- a bit more on what Emilia Jiinasu was doing (which may or may not have been conveyed in the fan subs), and (if memory serves) the sole mention of the battle with the Kurore Fleet in the timeline pages.

Glossary Sheets: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRglossary/MCRglossary.php

Glossary 15A: Tachiwani Shouhei - Unification War

- hard to find any one item to highlight in particular. Wish I had the time to do the characters, too.

Glossary 16A: Touma Shun - Carrots Love You Yeah!

- one thing I like about these sheets is that it gives the non-animated series equal space to shine. I'm especially digging the stuff on my favourite Macross game: VF-X2! (I'm sure some would say the same, but for the MII related content. ;) )
