wasn't this 17 painting already featured in a previous issue?

In a previous issue of this 80-issue series by DeAgonstini? No. But it was featured in the first 50-issue run of the Chronicle published by We've Inc. Issue #29.

Mechanic: M Citizen 03A: Civilian Vehicles: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#SDFM

- no changes between the editions, and only a few more dotted i's and crossed t's in the translation. ;)

RM++ Project:

Character: II UN 03B: Amy Lock / Kujou Saori / Natassja Todt: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#MII

- the highlight (urm... lowlight?) is some Japanese otaku weirdness that appears to have made it into the series proper... :roll:

Worldguide 24B: Vajra: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php

- some minor changes in the original between the two editions, but nothing that affects the translation.

RM++ Project:

History M 12A: The My-Clone Capture Operation: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#SDFM

- a nice refresher to that arc of the story, but nothing in the parts I translated comes across as a new revelation.

(Also for Jvmacross) Yes it was, I checked. Look here. Issue #18 revised edition

The foldout had the same mismatched face color as the old edition 17S. I guess they are issuing a corrected version this time.

Mechanic: Other 05A: Macross 13 / CV-565 / VCV-551 Valhalla III: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#Other

- some really juicy parts and *finally*, an explanation (of sorts) for the "submersible" part of the VCV-551's name.

Episode: M28A & B: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 28 "My Album": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM

- positively loaded with gems on the behind-the-scenes production of Macross + the lost 2 years novel.

Complete:

Mechanic: All 01C: VF Masterpieces Seen From Their Development Ancestry (YF-24 Family): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#all

- lots of goodies that I haven't come across before. Alas, the stuff on the YF-30 comes up a bit short.

Gallery II: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II ~Lovers Again~ #62: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRgallery/MCRgallery.php#MII

- interesting how they've changed the way they write the name of the series, eh (MII := SDFM:MII).

Mechanic: Zero UN 04A: QF-2200D-A Ghost / QF-2200D-B Ghost: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M0

- some pretty major changes between the sheets. More specifically, they changed the name of the fighters!

How will the new tv series affect these issues?

Ya ready to shell out for revision #3? Now 100 issues long. :) Unless they slow the release, chances are that the new series will not make it into this edition. Or they may expand the edition, but likely no.

It's being published by Daegostini, who in my experiences, have a history of extending a publication as new material for a series becomes available.

That said, it really depends on how fast the new Macross series takes to get released.

RM++ Project:

Episode: 7 40A & B: Macross 7 Eps. 40 "Desire That Exceeds The Stars": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7

- some interesting summarizing of Gamlin and Basara's relationship over the series. The two Topics are a good read, to, providing an overview of Reaction Weapons and The Galactic Treaty (partially a retread, partially inferred (= new)).

Character: II Marduk 02A: Marduk People: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#MII

- the RM is quite interesting, with a bit more insight into the legend of Arisu, and its effects.

History 7 08B: The Battle Of Planet Rax: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#M7

- Gurabiru's technical name sure is a mouthful.

Worldguide 27A: Propaganda Movies: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php

- given the tone of the parts translated, I think the title "Patriotic Movies" would better convey the content of the page. Nevertheless, some interesting reexaminations of historical Macross events.

Timeline 49A: The Galaxy Fleet's Crisis (F): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php

- some very interesting RMs. Specifically the one about Galaxy Fleet. Like or dislike Kawamori's politics, it's truly a shame that the disparity between wealth classes within the Galaxy Fleet and the contrast between the Galaxy and Frontier Fleets weren't better capitalized on in the series - they're such a great source of conflict and dramatic tension!

Episode: M29A & B: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 29 "Lonely Song": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM

- the topic on Warera and the other three brought a chuckle while at the same time being depressing about the fate of the Zentraadi who sided with us Earthlings. Ultimately, it reinforces how great the Zentraadi are as protagonists.

- I was wondering why they chose to blow up Island 3. One of the topics provides an in-series, logical reason why. Also, the subtle changes to Luca's character design is interesting.

RM++ Project:

History 7 09B: Operation Stargazer: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#M7

- instead of answering questions, the RM's only make new ones. E.g.: if the Protodevilun don't need science and technology and took armaments over from the Unified Forces, where did the basis for the improvements on those armaments come from? The series didn't give the impression that the brainwashed soldiers were creative, nor could the Protodevilun just will mechanical stuff into existence...

Mechanic: D7 Citizen 01A: VT-1C: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MD7

- sharp-eyed observes will have noted that the sheet name has been shortened. That's just the beginning of the changes. In short, were the original was unsatisfyingly brief and limited in scope, this one is satisfying, provides the appropriate scope, and gives a proper explanation of the identity of the VT-1C in the warehouse in episode 1.

I have to reluctantly agree. While the Macross geek in me is thrilled to see many of the Macross vehicles prominently featured in premier cover paintings, there really is a list of Macross mecha that should be prioritized for book-cover treatment over what we're getting. In addition, some of the hero mecha should be getting multi-mode treatment here. The VF-1 and VF-25 get pimped in Battroid, GERWALK and Fighter mode, why so few of the others? Granted, DeAgostini has brought us stuff like the YF-19 Battroid and others, but we should be seeing a lot more, including many of the variants. A Milia VF-17 Nightmare, a VF-19A Excalibur, or the Enemy Battlesuit from Macross Plus. The Macross Chronicle is being sold largely on the attraction of the Macross mecha, so show us the hero mecha we want to see in the modes we want to see. We won't get bored. Promise :)

I hope they have a VF-17 Nightmare Battroid in their plan.

I'm guessing we will probably see these:

VF-17 D/S battroid

VT-1/VE-1 battroid

VF-4 battroid

Maybe a VF-2J???....VA-1SS....Quel-Quallie???....Gnerl???....

I almost half expect to see either the TV or DYRL Boddole Zer command ship.......

Also...I really hope they don't useTenjin's "Anniversario" valk in the final cover.....

- some excellent RMs and commentary in this one. The backstory from the "Blank 2 Years" is a plus, too.

Episode: F22A & B: Macross F Eps. 22 "Northern Cross": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF

- how can you go wrong with a topic on "Bobby's Manly Spirit"?

Character 7 Citizen 07A: City 7 Civilians: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#M7

- expanded my original translation with headlines and the interrelation diagram.

Issue 67.....the well is running dry

We already hit that wall with #64 - no foldout Tenjin painting! (The cover is a reprint from the foldout released in the teens.)

Hell, if they give us a VF-2JA cover and a better-looking Metal Siren cover, I will be OVERJOYED. (Okay, so I might be easy to please...)
