Blasphemy, I know, but ever since Yamato increased their tampoed markings, I've had nothing to use all those spare kites on. Heck, I might even paint these up in prototype markings, and turn em into designs that lost out against other actual Valks. I mean, they already look like rejected VF-25 variants. While being a clear rip-off this show looks way more watchable than Shadow Chronicles. Don't be surprise if this thing actually WILL BECOME RT: Shadow Rising, the series! HG has strong connection in China, heck, Robotech (Chinese dubbed-version) has won awards in China for an animated series (seriously)! Quoted from Wiki: In China, during the summer of 2004, it was awarded "Best Robot-themed Anime of all time" by the Cartoon Channel of China Education Television. It is highly likely that someone growing up in any of those countries during the 1980s watched at least some of its episodes (However, Robotech did not start its broadcast in China until 1991). RTSC is just to pleased (with mixed result) the existing fanbase. RTSR aka Astro Plan is just a whole lot better! The old RT geeks be darned! RT needed to rebooted with new animation adapted from an original (bootleg inspiration .... that's what RT is) just like it adapted SDFM, SDC Southern Cross & GC Mospeada. Then HG roped in Korean studio using aesthetic Mospeada elements in RTSC. Having Astro Plan as RT: Shadow Rising is just continuing the tradition! Hell, I'd say yes to that! Lets see: Stiff CGI that would fit in an old PS2 game...check Stupid cliche plot...check ripping off other peoples designs...check really boring character designs...check stiff, amateurish 2D animation...check People, this fits the bill perfectly for HG next anime acquisition. Robotech: The Other Untold Story...with Shadows Instead of ripping off Macross this company should just throw a bunch of money at John Woo and Chow Yun Fat and make an animated version of A Better Tomorrow. Even though it may not meat the criteria for any Court sanction this movie is just to much like Macross (I Don't care if they say it is a tribute) to be considered original so unless they show some kind of agreement saying the Japanese holders of the rights to Macross are alowing who ever made this train wreck to use their work. I might be able to accept if it was just the Fighter/Robots they borrowed like when the matrix borrowed the Digital Raine from Ghost in the Shell but to borrow so many elements Fold effect, Fighters/robots, Hoard of Alien fighters, Flag of what ever organization. Given the Chines Media unwillingness/inability to criticize Their own government they probably wont have the inept/bureaucratic/corrupt government that has been a staple of Macross since the beginning. At least these guys decided to copy modern designs, unlike SC with their 80's era mecha design. As for this becoming a sequel to SC, I would love to see that outcome. Imagine they brought this show to a convention ?! The entire place would get torn to shreds out of rage.
