I just got my VT-1 Ostrich and VE-1 and they look awesome.

People were complaining about the high prices of these toys, but there is no other company that is offering perfect renditions of these cool valkyries.

I never thought Yamato could acomplish making top quality toys as Bandai. Yes I know, there was the broken shoulder problem and other defects from previous releases, but those are fixable. Unfortunately these toys have no customer service in USA, blame Harmony Gold not Yamato.

Who coud have thought, the coolest toy I ever have the pleasure of having is from Yamato. It is not a Macross toy, it is the Ingram 1/24 Patlabor; what a magnificent toy.

Just got my VE-1 and VF-1D Virgin Road yesterday and they are nice! I am actually really more impressed with the VR road. That dark blue color is for lack of a better word "Scrumshus"!

Ahem.....Back on topic! I do love the VE-1 too and it's definitely worth the price. I did notice a couple of problems though (that I am sure has been mentioned on other threads):

- that the arm antenna array on the arm has a problem. The screw on for the rotation mechanism to change it's position on the arm was too tight on mine and needed to be loosened. Not a big problem but something to be aware of.

- Read "eye" on the head has a line going through it that I am no liking to much.

- once the arm pieces are clipped on good luck getting them off!

Things I loved about the VE-1:

- Lots of tampo printing! They even tampo'd on the landing gear door decals!

- The Elint parts are just cool and sit on nice and snug once you get everything aligned and hooked up properly.. (You really need to use those tail fin hooks on this one!) Love that telescoping radar dish!

- Wing hard points so you can put to use all those missle pods you have lying around.

- Pilots fit in nice and snug and look awesome (although some might have trouble figuring out which goes where)

- Like the VT-1 and VF-1Ds they are nice and tight and awesome like all the VF-1 1/60 V.2s.

When did you find it necessary to use them? I didn't use them for any of the 3 modes and everything seemed pretty secure.

Waiting for my VF-1D Virgin Road to come in the mail. Dang hlj's VF-11B is back ordered I ordered it anyways now the question is, when do they get more? Also I pre ordered the unpainted VF-1S and its only 85$'s i think maybe because it has no paint.

Though japan with all its technology like us why do they receive order notification and contacts and updates from manufactures the old way before computers

Yeah you don't have to but I find everything is more solid when you do. I also find the when I put the dish on sometimes if I don't have the fins locked in the act of taking the dish off and on can move the back pack out of position. Again you don't have to I just find it keeps it in position better.

Here's some of my VE-1 pics. I cut the stickers individually using a scissor after pealing it off from the sticker sheet. Making sure each cut is perfectly close to the edge of text/graphic. Almost all 1/60 'text' are small and measure 1mm or less. Smallest would be the word 'Danger'. Anyway, after a week of hard work, VE-1 looks and feels great. Panel lines are applied and I like it clean. Will surely do weathering later but not now. I like the new 'factory look'.

Enjoy.

  • 3 weeks later...
Does anyone know the dimensions of the box? I have a friend heading to Japan and she's willing to bring back 1 (or 2) depending on the size of the box.

Thanks.

UNSpacy

I dun have the dimension handy but it is probably the biggest in the line, double trays.

What did you use to panel line it?
