Transformers Super Thread 9

Wow, having a rotating part rotate about the threaded part of a screw? That's guaranteed failure if not done right. Maybe not always the first few times, but that pretty much ensures that it WILL cut itself apart after enough movements.

It's about at the 7 minute mark if you want to skip ahead.

I'm thinking that it may be a torque/friction issue. If something is too tight, then instead of rotating with the screw, it'll rotate independently--thus cutting. I think loosening the screw may be enough. (I don't have one and can't really analyze it). It actually seems very similar to the VF-1 shoulder issue where the rotating part is so tight it doesn't rotate like it should, and instead forces the part that's supposed to be fixed to move around it. (which again, was not truly ever about the knurling, but the friction in the center part of the hinge---removing the knurling cured the symptoms, but didn't change the actual cause/flaw).

So, to everyone who has a Rodimus coming---loosen that screw before you ever transform it, if possible.

:;edit:: Eeek, another break. 17 min mark.

I was kinda excited about MP Rodimus but I think I'll just pass now. There is a lot of deluxe level figures I want to get my hands on. I still have yet to find a Jazz or Tracks anywhere, but I did find a Perceptor this weekend as well as Laser Prime. Not a huge fan of the Prime design, but he's my favorite character so it was too hard to leave him on the shelf.

Still hoping my local stores get Jazz and Tracks as well as the all the great ones coming out like Kup, Sweeps, Wreck-gar, Thundercracker etc.

Not possible, I just checked it now -- the screw head is not exposed.

Argh, I did not want to hear this. And after taking a look at those problem areas on my figure, yeah, I can see stress marks developing. :(

Was that a fan video? Cause wow, that was bad. Same cinematography as a typical porn. Close up of chicks face, then zoom to the action. back the the face, back to the action, lots of static angles.

Seriously, if they would have used the in-game cinematics, it would have been tons better by sheer virtue of the game, despite the awful music.

Nope, it's an official Stan Bush video. At least it's more "creative" than his video for "

".

Picked up Generations Kup and Scourge over the weekend. Hesitated at first because I'm not wild about the characters, but I'm so glad I got these. They are amazing toys. The transformation on Scourge is particularly elegant, and the head mold on Kup is just perfect. Highly recommended!

Best, MyClone

found and bought Blurr tonite at the local Target. even at $12 coz he's the only one on the peg. he was going for $15 at fry's last year.

anyway, bunch of Bumblebee-RTS shelfwarming alongside Fallback. wait, Fall-who? Didn't he used to be an ROTF-fig?

nothing much else.

gonna be visiting the other nearest Target tomorrow for Kup.

Who the heck is in charge of distribution? There are no new Transformers in my area. At all. Walmart and TRU, if they move their stock around, have probably 4-8' of empty peg hooks. Target is pretty well stocked, as long as what you're looking for is War for Cybertron Cliffjumper, Terradive, Sea Attack Ravage, Skullgrin, or Electrostatic Jolt. I haven't seen Blurr, or a single Reveal the Shield figure. It's frustrating to hear people finding wave... what, 3? 4? Whatever wave Scourge and G2 Prime are in, and I haven't even seen the first wave.

I quit on the movie toys after picking up just a few RotF figures, so the Dark of the Moon figs could be the greatest toys ever and I still wouldn't care. But like DA said, having them look like red and blue turds makes it easier not to care.

As for the TF Prime figures, I've never cared for the "Bayformers Animated" look of the series. Megatron doesn't look too bad, so I might pick him up. And if Bulkhead turns out ok, I could see myself grabbing one and hoping it works in my Classics shelf, but otherwise I'm not interested in Prime, either.

It's alright, though. I think I could use a break from the stress of looking for the same figures for two months while people two states over are three waves ahead of me.

that movie butterfly prime is ugly.

about finding figures. i think there are collectors who actually work at some of these stores. that's probably why i can't find certain figures in different lines.

just saw updated pics of tfclub devastator and transformers prime arcee. they look nice.

same here except for replace terradive with generations thunderwing. I actually haven't checked TRU lately even though it's like 2 blocks away from campus. and TRU has absolutely nothing but RotF and powercore. <_<

Funny thing, I went in to target today to pick up a skullgrin and I ended up with a leader Starscream instead. ^_^ '

takara or hasbro should release a repainted wfc megatron with a new head as galvatron. i've seen customized versions of it and it looks good.

I gotta agree on the distribution thing. The Target by my house seems to have restocked with Terradive and some form of movie Bumblebee. Literally half their deluxe figure stock is Skullgrin atm. The Tru (which is literally right next door) is still shelf warming animated Ratchet and RotF ravage.

The selection is bad enough I just caved and ordered them through various online retailers.

the targets in my area are in the middle of inventory. They probably won't restock until all the stores are done for this region.

Yeah, so as of tonite's retail-trip...

Both nearest Target and Wally's have stocked up and filled up their TF-pegs with ROTFail figs. So if you're really dying to get your hands on Terradive/Tomahawk/Skids/Ravage/Elita-1/Jolt , well, there you go.

TRU's even worst. Combino-crap and Ravages. They do have that huge Ultimate Bumblebee ($100).

About the only thing good was that both Target and TRU has some decent sale on Nerf N-Strikes. ^_^

Optibotimus has his youtube review up. He broke his already.

The Masterpiece line aren't Tonka toys; they sacrifice playability for visual accuracy & hight detail. It's the kind of figure that you're supposed to just put in a cool pose on your shelf, and transform it *very* carefully once in a blue moon. Want playability? G1 Rodimus.

which is why I said, "he broke it already." ;)
