Yeah, it's no problem. It might take a little while, since there's a pretty big pile of Macross stuff waiting to be scanned and translated, and the book hasn't arrived yet. Just out of curiosity, why're you collecting information on Southern Cross? Planning a website?

Seto Kaiba
PLEASE, i need any help to find the other designs (Mecha, characters, places, etc etc etc) My copy of This is Animation #10: Southern Cross just came in this afternoon... unfortunately it doesn't look like it's going to be of much use to you. There's precious little information in that 119 page book... the mechanical design lineart is all squished into eight pages at the back of the book, there're four or five color art mecha pages too, and maybe another dozen pages devoted solely to Jeanna, Lana, and Marie's character designs. Most of the book doesn't even seem to be about Southern Cross... lots of utterly pointless comics and enough chibi art to wallpaper a small room. Jasonc
Still looking for those scans. Should be around this mess somewhere. When I find them, I'll get the scans up here. <Edit> I just found about 12 pages of some concept art. Someone else owns the actual pics of this stuff, but here are some good scans of it. It's a very Samurai-like, and I don't really know the background of it, but I will post them up tomorrow for you. I wish to take no credit for these, as they aren't mine, and whoever is the owner of these I'm sure is hording them somewhere. Nevertheless, tomorrow I'll have them to you. I have more somewhere, just have to look more. Edited April 20, 2009 by Jasonc

meninge
Hey Guys, look what I found... Two weeks ago, i found a pictures detailing the spector jet from Southern cross series, and the pictures show a really good unseeing transformation of this jet, but.. see it for yourself: Another transformable mecha in the series???? waw I have a question for Seto Kaiba or anyone who has the "this is animation 10 magazine": Is this mecha design appear into the magazine??? With the great colaboration of JasonC, we could notice that is very probably, The scross series may could have a second season, but it not happen. So, i'm insist again with any material of the scross series, if anyone have.. put it on this TOPIC!
Seto Kaiba
Wow, that's pretty awesome stuff. I wish Southern Cross was allowed to be the sci-fi sengoku it was supposed to be originally. I'd be inclined to disagree... this is one of those rare occasions where I can't find any redeeming features in concept art. Two weeks ago, i found a pictures detailing the spector jet from Southern cross series, and the pictures show a really good unseeing transformation of this jet, but.. see it for yourself: Another transformable mecha in the series???? waw I'm not sure where the art at the bottom of that image came from, but I'll tell you this much... it is NOT the work of Southern Cross's creators. The aircraft in question, which This is Animation #10: Southern Cross calls the "Shrewfield", is a conventional fixed-wing jet fighter with no transformation capability whatsoever. Based on image quality, I'm guessing the screen captures were taken from Robotech DVDs released before Robotech was remastered. The black & white art on the left side is from book four of Palladium's original Robotech RPG, which described the aircraft as a non-transformable fighter called the "Specter". Where the lineart at the bottom of the image came from, I'm not sure. Judging by the artist's style, it's pretty damn obvious that it's not from Southern Cross, the design aesthetic is all wrong. I would guess that it's from the new edition of Palladium's Robotech RPG Southern Cross sourcebook, which came out earlier this month. Palladium has a long and proud history of playing fast and loose with the official story and mechanical designs, and shitting all over official continuity, so that they undertook to give a non-transformable fighter a clearly impossible transformation ought to come as no surprise. I have a question for Seto Kaiba or anyone who has the "this is animation 10 magazine": Is this mecha design appear into the magazine??? Yes and no. In This is Animation #10: Southern Cross, the Shrewfield is featured only briefly, and the only information it gives is the fighter's name. However, the Shrewfield as it appears in the book is one of several non-transformable fighters in use on Glorie. That alternate transformation mode art is something made for Robotech that goes against the intent of the mecha's original creators. Ginrai
Actually its done by a fan who is a member of this forum so maybe you should lay off. I still think it's ridiculous to try to suggest that an airplane transforms, even though it is not shown to transform in any of the official anything transforms because Robotech's notoriously unreliable narrator called something a "Veritech". The art is fine, but it's not in the style of the original art at all and is not official. In fact, didn't this fan commission an artist to create this for them to bolster the ridiculous claim that this non-transforming jet transformed? My point was, do not mistake this fan-created work as something official, and this is the sort of Robotech fanwankery that is shouted down on this message board on a daily basis. Jasonc
While the art of the battroid mode and G configuration looks pretty decent, it does look way too forced for the jet. Fans seem to want to transform everything, especially if it looks like it may have a gun turret in the place where valks usually have head placement (VF-1). Not bad concept art for some fan fic, or something of that nature. In regards to this thread, those designs are definitely a no go.
meninge
WAW, too many and good answers, WAW at the end, the picture of the three modes specter jet was a fanart... but definitely TOO GOOD TO BE A FANART, congratulations to the creator!!! Well, let's go back to main request of this topic, I found this image: And i think this image is from the THIS IS ANIMATION 10, Seto kaiba is the right man to confirm this.... Seto, is this correct??? Thanks to all for posting!!!
Seto Kaiba
And i think this image is from the THIS IS ANIMATION 10, Seto kaiba is the right man to confirm this.... Seto, is this correct??? 'fraid not... that two-page spread isn't part of This is Animation #10: Southern Cross. It looks more like a page from a magazine... maybe the Southern Cross spread in My Anime magazine from '84. I'm just guessing there, since I don't have a copy of that to confirm my suspicions. Edited May 5, 2009 by Seto Kaiba
