sidearmsalpha
i think there shouldnt be any debate on the colour of max vf-1s heat shield, its blue just look at the yamato product page photos. yamato's blog mentioning it to be black may just be a typo. and if we're referring to that macross chronicles cover, then we might as well say the head lasers are white :S anyway, i'm only getting the max vf-1j if and when it comes out... none other This is good news! I guess I'm one of the few that actually prefers it blue.
Ignacio Ocamica
I prefer the blue heatshield too. It goes better with this scheme.
honkhet
i prefer it blue too. in my books, only roy deserves a black heat shield, marking the one and only original skull leader. hikaru and max should only get red and blue respectively. I think the blog says that they received complaints on the color so they corrected the color of the heat shield to black. So I expect it to be black in the 1/60 model... While I support the thinking that "only Focker should get the black", I double-checked that the Max 1S always has a black heatshield in the movie. Unlike Hikaru's 1S, which is red now and black then. Well, then my 1/48 Max 1S has better value that it is not entirely redundant Edited February 8, 2009 by ff95gj
schmungbeen
Yeah, Im with the blue heatshield on the 1/60 1s Max... though I dont think ill be picking it up anyway, the 1A DYRL will do me just fine. Too much stuff coming out all at once! Not...enough... Money!
jenius
A heatshield has to cost like 2 cents to make, they should just give all the VF-1S toys two heatshields and let their owners decide.
Guest sh002
damn just make a variant with a blue heatshield. i hope max and milia's vf-ij's come out next.
VFTF1
I've warmed to Max's TV 1A recently. Decided to put it on my "to get list." Reason is pretty simple: I have Hikaru's 1J TV and will get Kakizake TV... and I suddenly had a cute dream where all three of them were together like the time they went to rescue Misa from the Zendradi It'll be fun having the whole TV team together... Dobber
I also preordered the tv max 1A. Will the tv 1A's have the correct style head, or will they just be DYRL style 1A heads? I think I'll probably be getting 3 more vf-1's after this one, a vt-1 and possibly another dyrl valk and a vf-1d. If the 1A heads will differ, that'll probably make my my mind up for me. VFTF1
I didn't know that nor did I notice it. So Max is going to have a tv 1A head that is different from the Hikaru 1A DYRL head? Cool Pete
honkhet
yes they are different. and i'm sure by now, you would have checked the pics again and noticed the differences... on a side note, i wished they made the TV 1A head a bit fatter like in the lineart... and they clearly did so for the GNU-do TV 1As, why didnt they do it for 1/60 v2

schmungbeen
Without sounding too much like an idiot, nor being someone who is able to read Japanese - that heatshield (to me) looks blue under all that shadow. I may be wrong - it may be the shadow. It may also be the relative proximity of that shadow to the blue above it. I dont know. Im not a doctor. But Ill tell you something I do know. I will be getting this.
honkhet
even though i hope i'm wrong, but that heat shield looks like blue, its just under a shadow. also, i put the japanese into google translator, and it says nothing about a black heat shield. emerson
It was black whenever Max's 1S was shown in battroid mode. Really? Man, my eye (or memory) must have unconsciously objected to the color mis-match and color-corrected it...
schmungbeen
Oh ye men of little faith. Anyone still a Doubting Thomas? see, I knew all too well. Blessed is he who believes without seeing! Black it is! Thanks for those extra pics. I am liking the black - but it does make my choice of what sticker to put on the strike packs more difficult! honkhet
thanks IXTL! i eat my words, black it is! it sure looks awesome with a black heatshield not doubt guess max got it black cos he was promoted prior to hikaru in the movie roy and hikaru were still missing in action when max was promoted by having a black heatshield, max' vf-1s definitely looks higher ranking than hikaru's vf-1s with red heatshield, dont you guys think? 505thAirborne
I was just watching DYRL for moment during Max's dogfight scene, Its brief, but when hes in Battroid, its definitely a Black heat shield!! I like the Idea of a blue shield better. But accuracy is most important!!
logos
Give Yamato a chance I am sure they have the "Blue heat shield" Max in the works! What is the version count on the 1/60s currently anyway? 13?

honkhet
What the heck? Then how come Hikaru's Strike VF-1S has a red canopy?!?! yeah.. my sentiments exactly.... but i'll still try to answer that: by right, skull leader shud have a black canopy to distinguish himself from other skull vf-1As.. but since max was promoted first and already received his black canopy, and hikaru got promoted later, guess UN spacy told hikaru: "hey... so u see, while you were still bonding with misa, max was already promoted to skull leader and did a great job. now that you're back, well ur still promoted but... you're gonna get a red heat shield... so please live with it, any questions?... oh yeah, please use the same fast packs you got for ur 1A, we'll add a strike canon for you... and yeah no black color code for ur fast pack skulls either"

VF5SS
What the heck? Then how come Hikaru's Strike VF-1S has a red canopy?!?! It switches between red and black. It should probably just be black like Max and Roy.
