I'm kind of sad that it's finished. It was an amazing 25 weeks!!

Exactly!!! Frontier was so full of homages to 25 years of Macross...I especially liked the Isamu tribute when Alto hime gets his VF-25 in slave mode...wish I could fly a Valkyrie like that! I don't mind the open-triangle...Alto hime seems to be happier flying in a "real" sky than rushing to the two girls anyway! Are there really so many open questions left unanswered :unsure:

I became a fan of Macross with (hmm...very ashamed) "robotech", and somehow my life made me miss the all that happened later (hence being a "cannon fodder" here despite my advanced age), until I rediscovered Macross and all the sequels and prequels (edit, only one prequel: Zero), and for the last few months, anxiously waiting for every new Frontier episode, but now it is all over, again! Guess I can go back to my normal life now (will try to stay away from other anime, Macross is enough ^_^ .

Saw at least 2 Dulfim class and 1 Kaitos class when Alto and Brera were doing that low altitude trench run up to the Vajra Queen (approx 19m+). could be more out there.

Think there's 2 Kaitos classes, and a whole lot of VF-27's. Wouldn't surprise me if the entire Galaxy militairy is there.

But why did they attack the 117th Exploration Fleet? Dr Nome & Co. seemed to be making nicey-nice with them before Grace screwed it up.

Only clue we got was Grace cursing them "damn worms" who realised her plans. So i guess Grace tried something (like hack the fold network), Vajra considered it as hostile behaviour and retaliated.

Btw they never explained Luca's Cinderella's Horn project....and why Grace setup the bridge fold amplifier on the Battle 25. I thought she would've sabotaged it since she was in charge of it.

the orange one is Dulfim right? with a hollow center, which was the path Brera (and Alto?) went through during the trench run.

IIRC, the greenish one is Kaitos class.

of coz there was some script mistake back in the early episode (ep 6?) when the orange ship folded in and the 2 recon RVF-171s called it a Kaitos..

EDIT: u're saying theres another Kaitos in the 2nd pic near the claws of Queen's right arm? its quite small to tell, but it looks like one. if that's a kaitos, then there's at least 2 dulfim and 2 kaitos in these 2 pics

You're right. Too clarify, I saw 2 green ones as I rewatched the sequence frame by frame.

EDIT: Yeah that's the one. Going by frame by frame you can tell its the same as the other one.

I think Captain Perry should sue Battle 25's radar crew for not being able to locate Battle Galaxy and be fooled by a hologram...

Ah, Kawamori san, why?

On a side note, why Leon had to kill the president? I can understand Grace and Galaxy, but Leon's plan was like, kinda, superfluous. If he (like it seems) wanted to install a dictatorship, he would have failed miserably: he organized a coup d'etat without the support of the high commanding officers relying only on the help of soldiers and grunts! No surprise the officers on Battle Frontier Bridge (all except Leon's aide) arrested him.

Least but not last. Why Macross 11??? I understand that it's there just to let us see that the Vajra are attacking all the colonization fleets, but why not Macross 7 then? it would have been a nice homage.

Thus said, despite all the enormous plotholes, I really liked the ending. I think I even got up of the chair in complete awe when the destroids bombed Galaxy's main cannon. Daedalus attack!

Holy cow, does anyone knows why they suddenly shows Earth and the SDF Macross???

To imply that the Vajra were about to take out the WHOLE universe. DOMINATION!!!!

Believe Kawamori said everything would turn around 180 degrees in the last episode, and it sure as heck did ^_^ It did feel a little rushed, but it was a lot to squeeze in in one episode. Heck they used both the opening and closing of the episode to show more.

I think that it was pretty obvious it was going to be rushed. Same as the last episode of ZERO. but I loved it anyway.

Wow, was it minmay singing at the end AIMO????

We see Sakamoto Maaya credited for the vocals of the Nyannyan service medley along with Nakajima and May'n. Given that I don't recall hearing her anywhere else, I can only assume that means that rendition of Aimo is part of the medley. So based on VA... not Minmay, but I doubt it was Ranshe either. My guess is it was the Vajra themselves. The queen in episode 14 borrowed her voice as well.

I just finished watching the episode a couple of minutes ago (in other words, I haven't read all the comments here yet), but HOT DAMN, was that ever awesome!

I actually started tearing up a bit towards the end (strange, I know)...but then burst out laughing at the "Macross Attack."

Anyway, it's been quite a ride, and I'm happy with where the story ended. Even if we never see Alto, Ranka, and Sheryl again...I'm satisfied.

'Course, if they want to give us more...I wouldn't say no. ;)

So, did Alto choose Sheryl or not? In episode 24 I was given the impression that Alto had chosen Sheryl. Going off Lunar's subs, Alto said "A person can't fly alone. He mustn't fly alone. Now that I understand that...." Then Sheryl makes a statement about how dense he is and that they should stop pretending to be lovers.... Alto reacts as if he were going to correct Sheryl...then the kiss happens. We all know Sheyrl's feelings for Alto...so I don't think she'd just step aside when Alto seems to have shown some feelings for her in the past. I'd think that Sheryl would 'fight' (for lack of better wording) for Alto's love...to the end. It seemed to me that Sheyrl knew were Alto's feelings were and was okay with them...telling Alto to go save Ranka. To me it seems Alto chose Sheyrl.

Now, I don't know how to speak Japanese...and there aren't any subtitled versions of episode 25 out yet. But going off just what I saw...I'm a little confused. It's at about 11 mins and 30 seconds that I'm confused as to where the triangle is going. I don't know if Sheyrl was conceding to Ranka because she knew she was going to die or what was really going on there. I keep reading that it's a harem ending...but are we all really sure? I wish I could understand Japanese! I'm taking a class to learn it...but I'm nowhere near being able to understand it like that! I wish a sub would come out already!

Moreover, I love the nod to Macross II! Sheyrl, the "emulator" for the NUNS; Ranka, the "emulator" for the Vajra (at first).

Edit: Grammar

I'd say it's still up in the air. Wait for the movie for a definate conclusion to the LT... Just don't rage at me if it turns out it doesn't give one either ;)

Harem ending is just fine with me. I'm fine with it not being concluded at all.

All right then...bring on the gekijouban! ^_^

And for everyone who thinks that the movie will resolve the love triangle, I have two words and a number for you: Macross Dynamite 7.

I'm still on a super high from this episode...

It was a great episode if you were on acid. The re-mixed songs clashing against each other, the pace that was ALL over the place, the resolution of multiple sub-plots, the finishing off of 3+ villians in half the episode... This deserved everybit of my negative vote. Leaving the romance angle aside, the rest of the episode was a complete mess.

Unless you were only in it for the Mecha porn and didn't care about anything else. Then this was a wet dream for you.

Worst ending episode for a Macross story ever.

Dude. You cannot be serious. Worst ending ever...?

Unsuccessful Sheryl-shipper is unsuccessful. :p:D

i understand japanese, and i am really really sure it was a harem ending. the part that you're referring to, nothing was really mentioned about the love triangle. it was more like cheesy inspirational dialogue. sheryl: "i can't go on any longer. you gotta take my place ranka!" ranka: "imma slap you for tryin to give up! remember alto and i wouldn't be where we're at if it weren't for you!" alto: "yeah sheryl! you and ranka are my wings!"

Just saw it, WOW talk about intense, everything was spot on, and you gotta give credit to the director and editors, they did a bang up job with the time they had, and dont even get me started on the music, I really couldnt be happier with the series, if Alto not making up his mind means we get more Macross then so be it :)

That's true, but I bet all the shippers are making theories about it starting by the trangler's Lyrics xD

IMO the LT resolution is VERY macross style

Nicely tied up with a bow... :D

I recall everyone trying to figure out where the Battle Galaxy was and it appears that it wasn't there at all! It would explain why the Galaxy sent out a distress call. Makes me wonder if the Galaxy city ship even survived.

The battle we saw in ep 7 was not in an area where the Galaxy fleet was, but a mid point between Frontier and the Galaxy fleet. The broadcast images of the Galaxy battle never showed the Battle Galaxy. It may well have been off looking for the Vajra homeworld while Grace was sowing her treachery on Frontier. Thus not available to defend her city ship.

It was cool to see the Galaxy "disarmed" and not totally destroyed. They took out the bridge and the gunship, not much left to fight with when they are gone. The use of the carrier deck like a PPB sword on the Galaxy also reminded me of how Metal Siren used its lance from Mac II. The new take on the Deadalus attack was pretty cool too!

Also makes me wonder if Mao was on the Battle Galaxy and if so, if she will be charged along with her cohorts? Interesting twist to take this innocent love sick kid from Zero and turn her into an amoral scientist with questionable professional morals...

Was that an avatar or the actual grace who Alto shot in the queen's head?

Love the loads of implications and unresolved love triangle. Much better than how Mac 7 handled Basara, Gamlin and Mylene triangle. The enigmas left from this series will keep fans debating this show for many many years. Exactly what is needed to keep a franchise like this alive.

Well done!

I did expect Ranka would be able to cure Sheryl and laughed when she bitch slapped Sheryl for giving up.

I also liked the message that science can be perverted into evil applications. Much more relevant for the universe IMHO...

Hmmm, thanks for clarifying that scene for me. I'm still not convinced it was a harem ending though. The scene I was talking about in episode 24 has me thinking otherwise.

...How many times has Alto kissed Ranka and Sheyrl? Ranka once, Sheyrl twice? ...Without a definitive answer from the creators...I'm thinking Alto chose Sheryl. I say that because of what happened in episode 24, and because of everything else that has happened throughout Frontier. I would elaborate more....
