Time....must....go....faster! Can we skip wednesday and go straight to Thursday 9/25?

one hour before the airing of ep25, a zentraedi fleet folds into earthspace and attempts to make contact; but then a huge blast of energy from somewhere in the south of japan fires towards the fleet. and because of this, all broadcasts from japan and all over the world are indefinitely postponed.

question! do we scream,

"DAMN IT, ZENTRAEDI WHY DID YOU HAVE TO COME NOW?? I WANT MY EP 25!!! GET the FRACK OUTTA HERE"

OR

"OMG IT'S HAPPENING FOR REAL! IT'S MACROSS! GOTTA GET TO SOUTH ATARIA NOW!! Ep 25? huh? ep 25 of what?"

???

I honestly don't know how to answer this. :p

I'd head to south ataria, I'd like to live to see ep 25 if it ever would get aired.

One way ticket to South Ataria Island and bring my laptop with me!

Dream Weaver you always come up with great discussions!

thank you, thank you. :D

ah, but herein lies the problem: if SW1 does happen for real (and assuming we surive), chances are that episode 25 will never be aired as it was originally intended. we would then have to wait at least 51 more years before we find out what really happens, and we have to make sure we're aboard the macross Frontier to see it happen.

I'd need to open a chain of Nyan Nyan chinese resruants and be sure to oversee the opening of the one on Frontier...then again if Frontier gets blowed up in episode 25 I'll never know!

Silly person. It's a pre-emptive strike so the Zentradi invasion doesn't interrupt the broadcast of episode 25. Once that's done, then we can get on with fighting Space War I.

well good thing we don't have to worry about that here in the real world.

the zentraedi feet won't be here for another four and a half months.

hmmm... now why do i suddenly have a feeling that they will come up with a Macross Frontier movie special, and it will come out in four and half months? ;)

While some of the outstanding plot points have already been resolved, I'm wondering how they can wrap up everything in just one more episode and still give us a mega action mecha porn finale at the same time.

I still want to know where NUNS came from!

If we somehow end up with an hour long surprise, then maybe most major questions will be reasonably well answered. But with the usual 25 minute episode, I say there is an over 95% probability that major questions like the origin of NUNs, a reasonably detailed history of what REALLY happened in the 117th fleet incident, etc.

It's already been confirmed to be a normal length episode.

Just saw GG's subs and it was awesome.

My thoughts:

vf171snapshot2008092021bn3.th.jpgthpix.gif

* Ozma and his VF-171. :)

* Also about the apparent "death" of Alto, like some here I'm not buying it as well. Plus I'm also curious why Alto had to go around that destroyed carrier. :)

* BTW...Brera saying something about him and Ranka being the guardians of the Vajra, and calling the Humans/Zentraedis of Fontier as the agressors. Hmmm.....reverse culture FTW? I'm now more interested than ever on how SK is gonna resolve this one, since I feel Humans/Zentraedis of Fontier won't very forgiving towards the Vajra, since they see them more as bugs/insects than anything else.

* So baring anymore manipulations by Grace, is it safe to say that Ranka was the cause of the Vajra attack on Global or was that another of Grace's machinations.

* Finally Grace is really one scary mofo. I mean talk about going to hell and back. :) Incidentally was she already a cyborg back then? I get the feeling that she did'nt even feel the flames searing her entire body. LOL that scene reminded me of Terminator as well. :)

* Also I wonder, after all is said and done, if the Humans/Zentraedis of Fontier will ever be able to forgive Ranka for her being an apparent "turncoat," since a freaking huge hologram of her being projected from the Vajra planet is pretty hard to miss. :(

That's also been bothering me. I had thought that back in episode 13 or 12 that ALL data stored in Global's computers were erased. Grace must be slipping then? :)

eh - its been bothering me why NUNs never even bothered to find the SDF Global and check its records...they should have tried harder considering it was their first major encounter with Vajra (i think) and the Vajra wiped out the 117th? Or maybe Grace hacked the records and continually arranged for SDF GLobal to remain hidden (hard considering the size of that thing)

Thats right. I think its too similar to what happened at the end of Macross Zero, with the final episode being a real rush job of trying to tie up all the loose ends and it certainly wasn't a total success. Its like I've noted before, I think that the final battle in frontier needed to be spread over three episodes rather than two.

My final plot prediction is that Ranka will stay with the Vajra, Brera will die, as will Grace and Leon, Battle 25 will be destroyed, the Vajra will become our "friends", Alto will resume his acting career and give up flying (If he is still alive that is) and the SMS will become the force guarding whats left of the frontier fleet as they continue their journey for a new home.

The only major element I have left out is Sheryl because I really don't have any idea of what will happen to her.

She will be healed by Ranka, the new Vajra queen and will tag along with Alto-hime and both shall live happily ever after!!

It's looked to me like Island 1 and all the remaining habitation islands were making a ditch landing on Vajraworld. I believe their journey is at an end! They will survive and come to an accommodation with the Vajra. But it does all seem quite rushed. I think I said back about episode 16 I didn't think they had time to wrap things up adequately....

Oh yeah, another zero style finish. How predictable.

It's disappointing that such lazy storytelling has now become the norm in macross. Killing off Michael just like THAT for the sake of drama was silly enough (sheer character wastage), and now a going nowhere zero style ending has become the norm. If this goes down, the last words the writers will hear from me are:

"You have disappointed me for the last time."

Actually, that's really not a bad place to stop. A new series can quite easily pick up years later after Frontier has settled on this planet, leaving plenty of opportunity for solving more Protoculture/Vajra mysteries as inhabitants investigate their new planet. I just hope it doesn't take years to make.

That's true, if We get all the questions answered now, there will be no more Macross in the future, that leaves the door open for a movie or OVA's

If that happens, I'm fine with it. But that also serves as practically a 2nd season for Macross Frontier, which for who knows what reason some here seem to be phobic to.

If a series is good and has a lot more stories to tell, why end it?

Frankly, I think a war anime long enough (thus having a large cast) should have at least a main character dying to symbolize the casualties of war.

The problem is, well, its that it's the SHORTEST TV Macross series ever, and many episodes were spent fooling around, which would have been OK if it were longer.

Note: NOT counting plus and zero.

They also spent way too much time trying to make a simple plot idea into something convoluted and mysterious.

It's about the RL concert. Nothing to do with the series per se.

What's the announcement that happens half way through the episode (I'm guessing it's kanji and appears and lingers for a little bit). All I can see is that in English it says FINAL. What's the rest of that say?
