All right, azrael's received a link to an *.avi of gg's fansub. You get the whole gg experience now with their fonts, but the video stream has a few errors due to the incompatible h.264 stream gg included this time (ref. http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?show...st&p=660512 ), so wait for Lunar or Shinsen for a better AVI.

Scratch the video errors - uploading a new file now. Expect it in a few hours minimum.

At least Klan is not groping herself like Sheryl or Grace (yet).

yeah definitely agree with you there. If she were then she'd be just a piece of meet

Also yes I think we all are pretty sure at this point that Alto jumped ship behind the carrier. As many have said his VF171EX charged straight at Brera and didn't even try any evasions. So staged. All hail Alto-hime the actor who will save the galaxy!

You know its bothered me for sometime, but should'nt it be an very effective offensive tactic to use the discarded islands surrounding Island 1, as weapons. Colony drops, anyone? Yeah its unoriginal, but its a sound military tactic, right?

Maybe in the last episode?:lol:

Probably would've been worse for them to spare energy to fold and drag "useless" islands with them. They were discarding them because they started "rationing" their vital supplies. (air, food, etc)

Since the queen's hive makes such a nice target, why don't they just fire Battle Frontier's big ass gun right into it?

I'm quite sure they aren't in firing range. They gotta at least reach near orbit. And the spiral thing looks as big as a small continent. I doubt Battle 25's macross cannon alone can destroy the whole thing. They probably want to seek out the queen and do a surgical strike on her. Expect "trench runs" ala Death Star.

Here!!!!! here!!!!! :)

So Alto's gonna infiltrate where Grace or Ranka is at using Ex-Gear, then? If that's the case, he still very FAR Away from where Grace and the Dulfin was.

Apart from desperation, the whole frontier fleet is in enemy territory. The reason they folded in WITH the civilian quarters as well was they cannot sustain their life support systems any much longer and almost all the energy is being used for that AND the final fold onto the promised land.

That said, they had to barge their way into the planet en masse and can't leave the Islands undefended as they will be easy pickings for random Vajra. I guess the plan is to move the whole fleet together and defeat the queen and the battle will be theirs....in Leon's theory anyway.

still i think this part is way too impulsive - doesn't make sense at all.

At least Klan is not groping herself like Sheryl or Grace (yet).

cant fit them in one hand :lol:

BTW, is there anything different with Ozma's VF-171? colors or anything? How many custom VFs do we have now in Frontier series?

Is just the same color as the blue one in episode 1. It also the same blue color as Machida's back in Episode 14.

Random thoughts after watching subs:

- Grace wanted to do something to the Vajra 11 years ago but they retaliated and destroyed the Global along with Grace's plans.

- Grace cursed the blood of Ranshe and Dr Mao (Zentran/Human + Alpha Bombay?) who will slaughter each other. Does this make Mao a Vajra or at least something that is of same ancestry? Do we finally get some Macross Zero answers?

- Indeed Ranka was needed as an "adapter" to interpret the Vajra network. It was impossible before but by passing the info through Ranka, it was easy.

- The "queen" seems more like a suit/throne that a humanoid sits in rather than a being itself. I didn't notice it before but upon closer inspection of HD subs, it looks like an empty suit....possibly supposed to be for a protoculture to control the Vajra originally. This would be interesting if the throne is empty now since it would mean the Vajra were never "intelligent", but acted solely on instinct (following fold waves, gathering materials for fold quartz, protecting their turf) unless someone commanded them.

- What bugged me was the giant Ranka....why are Frontier's computers viewing it if it was metaphoric....so i guess its supposedly a holo-projection. Then it occured to me that probably behind the Holo-Ranka was actually Battle Galaxy. It was certainly big enough and there's the shot of what is assumed to be the head of Battle Galaxy just before Alto duels with Brera. Also there seemed to be red turret fire coming from around giant Ranka hologram.

I hope i'm wrong but I get a feeling that some plot-points won't be resolved by the end of episode 25. Seems like alot of questions need to be answered which has to do with Sheryl, Project Fairy, Grace's original plan, vtype virus....etc. Oh well...lets see next episode!!

Didn't my explanation make sense? :( They can't leave the civvies all alone to fend for themselves and as they are they are already vastly outnumbered. Its a convoy formation.

He was CF in nuns then, so no custom colors for him.

It was transforming, in the next episode it will. From the way things are going though, I predict

Macross Galaxy will fold right in (they implemented Fold Quartzes in their fold system) and parry the blow with an energy barrier

B))

still i think this part is way too impulsive - doesn't make sense at all.

Their fighters cannot leave Island 1 undefended, so they will carry it along with them while they breach enemy positions.

Unless episode 25 is going to be an hour long(and I don't think it will) we're not going to get all the answers. My one major gripe about Macross F, is that it wasted many of the earlier episodes and now tries to cram everything into the few remaining ones. Perhaps the last episode will be mostly exposition( like in Evangelion), however I think it would be a major letdown given the massive battle started in episode 24. It's going to be a major juggling act between explaining everything, tying up the plot points, and concluding with a killer mecha battle in space. Can they do it? Only Kawamori knows. ^_^

- Grace wanted to do something to the Vajra 11 years ago but they retaliated and destroyed the Global along with Grace's plans.

Maybe she secretly tried to comunicate with them, but it backfired. She said in episode 24 she wasn't able to parse Vajra's comunication until Ranka helped her. That means Ranka's song actually didn't call Vajra.

- Grace cursed the blood of Ranshe and Dr Mao (Zentran/Human + Alpha Bombay?) who will slaughter each other. Does this make Mao a Vajra or at least something that is of same ancestry? Do we finally get some Macross Zero answers?

I think Mao and Ranshe simply opposed Grace's research. There could be a symbolism of races (human, Zentradi, Vajra) involved, we will see.

To me the queen looks dead long time ago, but since it has a lot of Fold Quartzes on her body it's still useful to the Vajra. Probably it was the original queen.

Maybe it's a projection in the Fold spectrum, anyway it does not have the slightest importance.

I hope i'm wrong but I get a feeling that some plot-points won't be resolved by the end of episode 25. Seems like alot of questions need to be answered which has to do with Sheryl, Project Fairy, Grace's original plan, vtype virus....etc. Oh well...lets see next episode!!

I think we got most of these answers. Project Fairy is an experiment about creating a surrogate "Little Queen" (that would have allowed to command Vajra), the v-type infection is a bacterium inside Vajra's intestine that contains tiny Fold Quartzes, Grace's original plan was explained. What we didn't get was why Sheryl was an orphan and why she was infected by the Vajra, but probably it's assumable it has to do with the 117th research fleet incident, since Sheryl is now officially related to Mao.

animesuki has the episode up, strange thing though the graphics are a little glitchy (spots on the screen tend to lag behind at a few points) havent seen that happen on other gg episodes though.

See the post Suzuran made in the fanbus thread that I referenced in my post:

Apparently, some of the (possibly older) codecs won't decode gg's h.264 stream properly. Once he gets around to it, azrael will post a 704x396 XviD AVI that you won't need CoreAVC for. Of course, if you want HD quality you'll need to do it yourself. :p

I hope the last episode is an hour long, just don't see how everything....Ok most of everything can really get answered without it being "well its your interpretation what happened". Just seems likes its gonna be a rushed ending. Hope I am wrong.

Also, I watched episode 24 (Subbed) again this morning. Instead of Flashbacks, wish hey just did a whole flashback episode about the SDF-GLOBAL, and the 117th convoy, Ranka's family....would have been better. But where does it look like Alto bails out as some have pointed out? Before he fly's past Bremen/Ranka's brother?

Also Leon is a d@#che-bag, he's gonna get everyone killed!!

To me i'm just wondering if behind the ghostly visage is actually the Galaxy. Stuff were firing from behind it and something was firing at Alto when he came near giant Ranka, so i assumed them to be turrets. Then there's the image of unknown mecha head as well.

- Project Fairy: What do the pills do? Klan says its supposed to mitigate symptoms of v-type virus but has side effects that Sheryl is facing. So is Grace keeping Sheryl alive or not? Sheryl would have died on Galia 4 but Grace didn't know about Ranka's ability then or at least she is of no concern to her then. What was her original plan if she intended to kill sheryl on that planet? Did she have backup fairy or something?

- Vtype infection: We know what it does in the vajra....but why does it infect humans? Do people normally contract it? Howard Glass seems to say no. And why do Hydras become berserk when they get infected with it? Doesnt make sense. And finally...how did Ranshe get it? Was she messing with Vajra-poo during experimentation?

- Grace's original plan: Still unstructured and probably resolved by the end of ep 25, but i'm more interested to know what she intends to do if she did not find Ranka. Ranka was key to her plans coming to fruition and she had plans that did not involved Ranka initially. Then there's that thing about using Frontier as a nest or something, why?

- Sheryl might be one of many clones of the real Sheryl (Fate Testarossa?) and i think she is purposefully infected with V-type virus. She didn't just contract it.

we can always hope that Frontier's popularity and the rushed pacing of the final episodes will cause another 10 more episodes tacked on at the end to finish story telling ala SDFM. episode should have the ultimate in mecha porn two macross class ships slugging it out.

Won't happen like it did last time.

Airtime today is expensive and hard to get and schedule until probably a year later.

Simply blown away by this episode. Nice cliffhanger, plenty of great animation and fantastic battles. The story is definitely on a high note and coming toward the big showdown. I just hope Grace gets it and gets it good; I really want to see her get her due.

On another point, the fleet battle in this episode of Macross Frontier sure makes one appreciate the advances in animation in the last 25 years. There's so much detail, not just in the ships being featured promimently, but the whole background is literally filled with eye candy. Not only that, the battle is so reminiscent of the Macross style, particularly DYRL. There were shots done in CGI that were very much staged like sequences in the final battle of Space War I.

The mecha head is most likely to be Battle Galaxy. The Galaxy is linked with Fold Quartzes to Grace. It appears Alto tapped into their comunications by chance.

The pills were mitigating the effects. This was stated clearly in episode 18. Therefore Grace was keeping her alive, although to the viewers this was cleverly made to look like Grace was poisoning Sheryl.

The reason why Sheryl was discarded was because Ranka demonstrated her abilities in episode 7. gg host their scripts in their site, so you can easily access them and check facts in discussions like this one.

Information that the secondary element assumed dead 11 years ago, Code Q-1, has been living on this ship was also received and considered. At that point in time however, it was assigned relatively low priority.

[...]

Thus, hostilities between the Vajra and Frontier developed.

[...]

But the biggest miscalculation was how Code Q-1, Ranka Lee, displayed her abilities in this situation, right?

[...]

But Major Brera, who infiltrated the Vajra Mothership for surveillance purposes, intercepted a transmission of Sheryl's singing voice, in which was mingled some other type of fold wave component... When that protocol was discovered, it truly felt like the work of fate.

[...]

Operation Carnival had to be drastically revised.

By the way, it's not a virus ^_^ That's why I called it a bacterium. Maybe it's a prion, though

Why does it infect humans? Because it's a bacterium, that's what bacteria do :p The bacteria of a human can kill a gorilla

Contamination happens on exchange of bodily fluids (something like AIDS) so it was explained in a previous episode. Not poo :p

If the bacterium has a different effect on the humans, it could have a different effect on Hydras. For a real world example, cows with BSE behave abnormally and may be aggressive, thus they were called "mad cows".

Ranshe was closely experimenting with Vajra, it's no surprise she was the first to be infected.

She did find Ranka, though. Maybe she checked all people on Frontier when she arrived (that's why she knew about Michael's sister).

What is this nest thing you are referring to?

- Sheryl might be one of many clones of the real Sheryl (Fate Testarossa?) and i think she is purposefully infected with V-type virus. She didn't just contract it.

This is only speculation

That's also been bothering me. I had thought that back in episode 13 or 12 that ALL data stored in Global's computers were erased. Grace must be slipping then? :)

Alto probably was looking at the flight data recorder. And he was only looking for what, couple of minutes? Ozma and the gang probably went through the research data as well as spending much more time in the area. That data probably wasn't touched after the research fleet arrived on Galia 4.

Also Leon is a d@#che-bag, he's gonna get everyone killed!!

You know I'm really starting to wonder just how Leon is going to die (if at all). I mean he's on board the Battle 25 with Sheryl singing so, if the Battle 25 is destroyed (for the sake of bringing Leon to justice) how would Sheryl and all those innocent of Leon's crimes survive? I think that would be so wrong for the writers to kill everybody just to get Leon! Maybe he'll do something stupid like leave the ship after it's been damaged thereby giving someone(maybe Grace) the chance to kill him. I just hope they don't pull a Mospeada ending and kill an entire fleet!! Man, that still make me mad!!

Can Grace be mindcontrolling the people i charge of Macross Galaxy (Captain etc) the same way she controls Brera and Ranka? Cyborg is supposed to be normal on Macross Galaxy right?

Just 2 people need to die to end the series. Grace and Leon. Then SMS can come in and enforce peace with a song duet between Sheryl and Ranka like in the intro (maybe another song). Hopefully we get another season or at leas OVAs that deals with Macross Galaxy and who is behind Grace in this war. But wouldn't that require another enemy?

In terms of song duel, Sheryl is going to either snap Ranka out of it through Alto and the earring, or going to beat her a$@ down by singing Aimo. We've heard it in the eyecatch, but haven't heard her sing it in the series yet.

Maybe it will never be sung in the series at all. I was thinking the most appropriate song for Sheryl would be Try Again :p

Okay, just watched the non-subbed version on Youtube and there's something that bugs me about Alto's last flight.

First of all, as noted already, he stays a bit long behind that wrecked cruiser - with the speed he went behind it he should have shown up at the other side before the switch to the Brera/Klan-fight.

But there's something that bugs me about after he got hit badly by Brera: he flies towards the Varja home-planet, then makes a really weird sharp turn before going poof in front of Giant-Ranka. Now just before the weird turn, am I crazy or does something fly off/eject from his plane?

Just to explain the 'weird turn'-thing a bit better: It looks like his VF-171EX stalls, except how the heck do you stall in space? Even if it was the planet's gravity that influenced his Valk, it should have fallen towards the planet, not away from it.

Also, no visuals of him dying except for his fighter exploding. In Gundam this usually means 'not dead'.

yes but who to send to after leon? Isamu and a squadron of VF-19s!

Some people wrote that hopefully SMS will jump in. Say something or present evidence etc and the captain will happily turn against Leon. Leon will preferably resist arrest of course and be killed during the fight on the bridge or during his escape.

Brera did a half-assed job <_< Never send a droid to do a man's job

though it turns out good for our protagonists...

yeah probably many if not all folks from M:Galaxy were tricked into implants to bind them to G.A.

The one last episode seems too rush for everything. We have the Battle Galaxy to appear, SMS Quarter to return to the scene, Leon is to be killed/captured for trial of murder, Grace needs to be killed but she dont die easily, mankind making peace with Vajra and Ranka, Brera to be killed or sacrificed to save Ranka and after making peace with Alto, Bilrer to meetup with this mysterious "person" and the explanation of his real motive behind all of these, conclusion to Luca and Nanase (she needs to wake up, and Luca needs to feel guilt and remorse i hope?), and of course Alto's choice between Ranka and Sheryl... not to mention we need time for the plot explanation, the battles between M:Frontier/SMS/M:Galaxy/Vajra rematch for Alto/Brera(?), and also to wrap up the series... Too much content to stuff in 20+ minutes!! Maybe Grace will not be destroyed at the end to pose as a permanent threat in a future series? She's hard to kill, and i dont think even destroying the whole of Battle Galaxy could kill her if she is well-prepared with several network backups in various places.

Maybe it will never be sung in the series at all. I was thinking the most appropriate song for Sheryl would be Try Again :p
