Macross Ace Frontier for the PSP.

Recommended Posts

Actually, it's likely that the PSP 3000 has the new motherboard in it which is causing hackers a little bit of grief at the moment. However, it's only a matter of time before they crack it.

My bad, I wasn't even aware there was a new motherboard in the 2000-series. But as you said it's just a matter of time, eventually the hackers will get around it.

And it either case it won't matter when it comes to Ace Frontier, but I honestly couldn't see the value in buying a PSP that couldn't be hacked. The ability to play home brew stuff adds a lot to the system.

Seriously, Homebrew apps rock! I got a memory card with tons of that kind of stuff. I still think the best homebrew app is the cheat code device since it tells you how much battery life you have left.

Not 100% factual, but close. As a mixer, Gundam and Macross use similar sounds but have many different styles. If I was at my PC Id give examples.

I have heard the exact same sound effect of computer funky noise in DYRL (on the Protoculture) and in Gundam and in several other show example. I think they were pulling from the same library, it's just that every show didn't use every sound effect there.

Besides a couple of nit-picks, I'm all psyched for this release.

Hardly any of the new promotional info features Macross Zero in either text or images. I really hope it hasn't gone the way of the PS2 game, in which the VF-0 and SV-51 were supposed to feature but got pulled out at the last minute for no good reason. :(

One other thing bugging me is that the missions are all based in their respective timelines, so that might mean you cannot pilot a Tomahawk and try to take out a VF-27? Or play as Mac7 Millia versus SDF-Mac Millia? Hmm, I do think I saw a pic of a VF-25 fighting a Strike VF-1S, but I hope that's not limited to just the 2-player battles or something like that.

Lastly, the cover art is ruined by the usually-infallible Tenjin Hidetaka making a stupid mistake on the Fire Valkyrie's forearm. What's going on? Why is the elbow joint backwards? Did Basara try to fix his valk by himself or something?

And it's almost October! Let the countdown commence: TEN days to go... B))

To avoid a similar disaster to not being able to find the VF-25F model kit, I've decided to preorder.

While it will probably make it's way here (all previous Macross games did very quickly), I've decided to play it safe, rather than risk being left gameless.

Hey will this game be in all japanese or will there be english as well it being region free and all. I am really excited for this game and i am going to buy a psp just to play it. It would be a shame since i don't know any japanese to try and play through the missions. I am sure this has been answered somewhere but i am jumpin on kind of late and don't have to time to go through 25 pages of info. Thanks

Upgrades for your Valkyrie, and a few minor title pieces will probably show up in english, but the entire ingame text/dialouge will be in japanese. If this game places at all like the previous gundam games this wont be a problem to figure out.

Likely, you will only be able to play through the timeline with the planes/mech in that particular timeline until you have beaten all the timelines. At that point, it will most likely open up the ability to play through any timeline/mission with any mech/plane. This is just based off what happens in the Gundam games made by that company.

They closed the service mode hole?

I'm actually surprised.

...

Until someone figures out how to forge a signature, anyways.

Exactly. It's really just a matter of time. Sony has to have some way to fix them and without doing a whole bunch of retooling, then chances are they just changed the location/way to get to the hole instead of plugging it up.

Is that like referring to how the thrusters noise is exactly the same Gundam uses (in specific series) and Dragon Ball/Z for when SSaiyans

are jetting around? :p

Can't wait for mine to get here. Graham you've done the right thing pre-ordering!

Now if only the PSP-3000 would make it's arse available already............

OK, I just got the new issue of Macross Chronicle (I usually get it first thing Thursday morning because I live above a 24hour bookshop :p ) which has a feature on the upcoming PSP game. It turns out that Macross Zero will NOT be a playable timeline per se, but the valks themselves will be available. Better than nothing, I guess.

Also... you can control the Macross!!:lol:

lol the Macross is useable? YAY! Wonder if i can go all out ala MII style and go up against the entire Zentran(wish it was the Marduk) armada and get blown to bits cept the bridge floating left. lol.

And GREAT news for the Mac Zero valks being included. Sad that there is no missions (like Nora/DD taking out the UN Navy) or Shin VS Nora, or DD vs Roy with Sara getting all angry and blasting everything around you) but i'm sure there will be a vs mode where it lets you choose who will be your opponet. Just as good!!!

Anyone can confirm from the Gundam games concerning VS battles?

Faking signatures is hard, IF the hash is long enough and calculated in a reasonably secure manner.

7800 homebrew was blocked until Atari released the keygen to the public because of that.

It's not as vicious as SOME control schemes, but a 128-bit signature could be trivial to implement, but very difficult algorithm to crack, just due to the length. Assuming there's no blatant oversight in the implementation.

They actually HAVE plugged the hole by requiring a signed executable for the service menu restore data.

If they did it right, the signature will be transparent to older units. Even if it DOES hurt the older stuff, it just means they have to have TWO restore cards on-hand for their service techs instead of one.

I assume the original SDF-1 Macross ^_^ Imagine if we can control all the Macross class ship (SDF-1, NMC, and Quarter), we can have an ultra heavy weight battle royale here

Yeah probably but it would be nice to control the Battle 7, 25 and Galaxy too.

hey, I gotta ask a kinda dumb question

will this be released in a US version?

Highly unlikely.

if not, will we be able to play the Japan version on our US PSPs?

Yes. PSP games are region free (or so I've been told) and a game from any country will play on a PSP from any country. Only PSP movies are region encoded.

So you think this will be a sell out like the release of the VF-25 model kit?

I doubt it. Game releases RARELY sell out. They may run out of copies on day 1, but they'll be restocked by day 2. And usually if they run out, you can go to another store and they'll have it. That's the way the game industry works. Usually they make more copies than they plan to sell from my experience.

Something to pass the time before Macross Ace comes out.

VFX 2 on PSP. 1991 graphics at its finest! biggrin.gif

Uh, VFX-2 was 1998/99  Playstation didn't even exist in 91 yo :p That time the market was dominated by Sega and Nintendo.

I'm gonna preorder my copy on monday can't WAIT to get it.
