Well...the episode covered a lot of time (at least a week or two, I'd say), but it didn't seem rushed to me, nor did it seem like there were any "pieces missing"...I'll watch it again though, and see if anything jumps out at me... Holocause Posted April 24, 2008 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Another amazing episode down the books I find it great that each episode has a great balance between mecha combat, character development, entertaining homages to its roots, and satisfying soundtrack all packaged in about 30 mins... I clapped like a giddy girl when they finally played Lanka's song for her part... was curious which song they were going to remake and was happy what they chose. Making Lanka not win the Miss Macross contest also was a surprising twist that I was not expecting... It's obvious though that her singing has a major role in the series and I wonder how she'll emerge as the fleet's premiere Muse. Seems though that Foo-Foo hair had something to do with the Miss Macross outcome. Q-rau's still kick-ass 40 years on. Shame no battlepods were shown in the debri field. Seing SMS and the 3 boys all sitting at Nyan-Nyan feels so nostalgic... its like I can put a mental picture and replace them with Hikaru, Max and Kakizake. I do think though that the Meltrand mini and Mikhail will be the pair, Red Q-rau... Blue VF. I'm still wondering as to why Alto got a VF-25J off the bat. Always hated those things... I suspect Alto got the VF-25F almost like an inheritance from Gilliam. He was the last to pilot it and thus he gets it. It is also the only one, besides the "S" or "A"(?) that doesn't require special training to operate. The "G" and he "RVF" both are specialist aircraft that require specific training. Couldn't get her full name but the lastname sounded like "Mei"... any relation to Lynn? Hope not. Here's something though... say they were living in the world of Macross... you'd think being that Lynn's singing and her songs were an integral part of humanity's survival, all of Lynn's songs would be elevated to Galactic status (even to the point of being Humanity's Anthem) and trademarking any songs that Lynn would have blurted out of her mouth would have been iron-clad with not just anyone being able to sing it at will for commercial status. I hope they keep it up! So many characters and homages, I almost lost track of them all. Wonder though which of the other 2 Q-rau pilots was the one Alto was able to tag I believe it was the Q-rau pilot with the pink hair, if you watch them in the very breief half second shot they are in after KK exits the sms hanger and pause it youll see she is hanging her head in shame, by the way i agree with the rest of you there is a lot of good female designs in the series, my fav of the 3 meltrandi is the one with the short red hair. Edit nevermind i take so long to type and then spell check myself that someone beat me to it. I type old style the one to four finger method i type only with my two index and middle fingers. And about the Vajra explanation from Ozma: NUNS make a cover up story about a colonization fleet which was destroyed by Vajra. Ranka is the sole survivor of the incident make me suspicious that she is not human after all, she could be a Vajra avatar sent to spy on human.
