YAHOO AUCTIONS - JAPAN

Recommended Posts

I probably should have done this in the other thread, but here goes....

Carl,

Incredible collection!

Thanks.

Have you built any of these yet?

No. Just don't have the time currently.

Are they all really 1/100 scale or as some has said, fluctuates between 1/72 and 1/100?

The ONLY two kits with ANY scale info on them at all are the two YF-21 kits in the black and while boxes. One claims to be 1/100 and the other 1/75. However both kits are identical. Technically I'd call them ALL non-scale. I believe the true scale for most is somewhere between 1/75 and 1/100 however probably closer to the 1/75 scale end and I also don't believe they are all in scale with each other.

I'm so envious. If I won the lottery, I would have all these kits mass produced again, albeit scaled up to 1/72 at least! :p

This brings up an interesting point. SHE did do a "Thank You" rerelease of several of these kits. I passed as I already had them from the first release. I've now learned there are some differences between the original release kits and the "Thank You" rerelease kits. Aside from having the "Thank You" rerelease kits I think my collection is complete. I doubt I'll go after the "Thank You" release kits but does anyone know the best way to tell the diference between the "Thank You" rerelease kits and the originals? Are the boxes identical between the two? I think they are. Anyone remember which kits he re-release in the "Thank You" rerelease?

Thanks,

Carl

Hi Carl,

The ONLY two kits with ANY scale info on them at all are the two YF-21 kits in the black and while boxes.

Actually, the YF-19, PHEYOS, YF-21 (colored box) and the VA-3 all have 1/100 scale listed on the box as well. I think they stopped doing this once they realized their scales were off. They probably started listing 1/100 scale on their boxes after the YF-19 was introduced due to it's similar size to Bandai's variable VF-19 kits (which claim to be 1/100 scale).

I don't think there any any differences between the re-release kits and the originals box wise (at least none that I have been able to make out). I've only been able to tell the difference based off of the kit itself and this is only with the YF-19 & 21.

Sure enough... I had to dig out the large version of my SHE picture.

I stand corrected.

Thanks. Could you post the differences again? I believe you've told me before but I'm not sure where that email is at the moment plus others might be interested. Also are you saying the other re-releases are identical to the originals or that you just have the YF-19 & 21 re-released kits? Do you remember which kits SHE re-released? I'm thinking it was the YF-19, YF-21, VF-5000B ver.2, and the VF-4G but I'm now not sure. The fast pack set for the YF-19 and YF-21 might have been re-released too come to think of it.

I do not really know what the story is, though it is a very nice peice

Here is the thread from the Fanworks section. It is the same thing. It was produced by Valk009 here.

http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...=10633&hl=glass

I'm not sure if I should write to the seller or not. I suppose he/she could either be an elaborate scalper or just some person who bought it and now no longer needs it so is selling it off.. I dunno.

Wait, too late. I just checked the auction again and it's over. Wonder how much it went for. Still, I think something is very fishy about that auction.

Some of this is speculation and some personal experience: The main way to tell the difference between early release YF-19 & 21's from any later re-releases is the resin type used. The earlier kits are molded in a yellowish resin and later releases in white. It is also interesting to note that I've seen the YF-19 packaged 3 different ways. The first is where the kit was molded from yellow resin and included a clear resin canopy (first gen kits). The second was molded in white and also included a clear resin canopy (second gen kits). The last kit I saw was a 'Thank You' re-release and was molded in white, but included a vaccuformed canopy. If you look at all of your other SHE kits which include a canopy, they are all vaccuformed. The early YF-19's are the only kits which include resin canopies (that I have seen). As for the other kits I have seen muliples of, they all look the same with the exception some coming in a gatefold type box while others come in a standard type box with removable cover. Whether or not this indicates when a particular kit was released, I'm not sure.

Here's a list of the SHE kits which were listed as part of Studio Halfeye's Thanks Campaign re-release according to the Macross Compendium:

How rare is the 22...come to think of it Ive only seen it a couple times...

I'm not sure. I haven't seen it at auction very much either. It was more then just a WonderFest release as it was listed at HLJ.

http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?SHE014

However HLJ also lists the VF-11 Fast Pack kit:

http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?SHE018

and that was a "Limited production of 100 units". Though seeing as that kit is listed at the Compendium and the VF-22 isn't it's certainly possible it saw an even smaller production run however at the time it came out I don't recall it being billed as a "Limited Production" kit where as the VF-11 Fast Pack kit certainly was. Based on just that I'd guess there are atleast 50 VF-22's out there but that is just a guess.

That Minmay doll is also available in one of the vinatge toy shops here in Hong Kong and also selling at sky high prices!

To be honest, the doll looks really crap and if you really want one go for the Yellow Submarine version instead.

Andy :)

PS It is not a Robotech licensed doll but some jap company I have never heard of, probably went bust producing such shoddy dolls :D

Here's one that's got me a bit baffled...

A Japanese Minmay doll... Not the 15th aniversary Yellow Submarine one, but one almost on par with the old Robocrap one

oh hey, that's one of those hella rare dolls. Here's the ad for it in the macross ad section:

hi,

just found this..anybody knows who manufactured these stuff? kinda cool IMO

YF-19 Phone strap

i'm pretty sure that's made by banpresto. Most if not all of the keychain and gashapon type of macross products that came out were all made by banpresto. Is that yours or is that an auction your bidding on? I want's me one of those!! :p:D:lol:
