Hi there

While I was browsing magazine scans on the Macrossworld website. I came across some real beauties. So I wonder if they are available as kits and/or toys and if so from where.

Here they are:

Bear with my ignorance but what is a resin kit ?

resin kit is a fan made kit.

basically they do they're own sculpting, make they're own molds, and create a kit made out of resin.

if you don't know what resin is, look it up cause i don't know how desribe it.

most macross resin kits are going to cost you a lot, more so than any toy thats out there since it requires a ton of work with a limited production run as the molds have a short life span.

also the pic on your top left is the VF-2SS in 1/100 scale made by Bandai. It shows up on MW from time to time, shouldn't be too hard to find on ebay. But stating the obvious, these are all model kits and you'll need some basic/fair/decent experience to make them look any good.

And on the topic of Resin, don't even think about getting a resin kit until you're fairly experienced in modelling as D.N.D says they require a ton of work and you need to know what you're doing.

I guess out of all the kits on your wishlist, the BanDai made VF-2SS would be the ideal starting kit. It might cost a few bucks more than the Hasegawa kits but most BanDai model kits are easier to build; less puttying and sanding ;)

Furthermore the VF-2SS kit is a variable kit, so you will have fun and satisfaction when completed :p

I can also pick you up a Bandai kit here in Tokyo but it's going to run about he same price as dax415 so if you are in the States get it from him. Liberty finally dropped the price on them since nobody really buys them here.

The pic of VF-2SS you posted is the Bandai one but the arms and legs have the B-club resin mod kit on it. The Bandai kit you can't remove the leg and arm armor and the cannon fast pack mont can be removed but the rear wings do not fold up. B-club made a kit with the extra parts to put in place of the armor and fast pack mounts.

I did find two on ebay.

$49.99

$72.00

The Studio Half-Eye VF-5000 is a rather rare transformable resin kit. Expect to pay $300, if you can find one.

The page of all the Wave kits... prices vary greatly. I'd say $50 - $100 each, depending on which kit you're after. Most are 1/100 resin kits, but some are 1/72 soft vinyl kits. All of them are long out of production.

The Schneegans is a one of a kind scratchbuilt model, not a kit. Forget about it.
