David Hingtgen
What's likely the fastest way to get a YF-19 once it's released? Let's also say I don't want to deal with HLJ or BBTS or any other "huge" seller, as I feel I would get better after-sale service (with say, possible Yamato QC issues) with the smaller dealers like Neova or TMP or Toy-Wave etc. A related question--would everywhere in the US get them in stock at relatively the same time? Just how many different channels will the YF-19 really take to get to the US? One huge importer/distributor shipment to California, then to all the various stores from there? Or are they all different, with some stores getting stock straight from Japan, some almost straight from the factory, etc?
kensei
From experience it would seem that the American dealers get them shipped at the same time or even later than the release day in HK. I have no doubt that the US dealers will recieve them no later than two weeks after the HK release due to the fact that most of the dealers, to cut down on prices, ship my sea mail or any other slower service. The only way to get it first is to actually "live" in HK, like Graham. Next best thing is to order it from a HK dealer and ship it by EMS. kensei
And that's exactly why you pay a price premium, the insurance, tracking and service can't be beat. Most of all, the timing, which totally relates to this topic. You want it first, you have to pay the price. And this is an option is US dealers want to be competitive, keep prices down by choosing cheap shipping methods, at the cost of time. do not disturb
if i really want a new toy right away, like a couple of days after its been released, i buy from Neova. hes a stones throw away from the yamato factory so he gets his shipments fairly quickly, then it usually takes 2-4 days tops from HK to NYC. also because he's a one man show(no warehouse, no store, no overhead), he usually has better prices in comparison to a lot of other sellers out there. i've pretty much bought all my macross toy from him. as far as how long it takes for US sellers to get their stock, it really depends on the shipping service the vendor uses, some go by plane, some go by boat, so it really impossible to say.
