I have to pay off my Benelli shotgun, and I'm seriously tempted to put a deposit on a Kimber Custom II .45 even though I'm waaaaay over budget....

Nope can't afford it. Stupid holiday season.

Haha, I hear you. I always end up in the hole this time of year, plus I just came back from Japan a few weeks ago and that sucked my bank account dry. It's funny, they have all these airsoft shops there and some of the stuff costs more than the real deal.

But I'm still hoping the wifey will get me a Norinco side-by-side, haha!

In light of the fear over "assault weapons" that our politicians and the uninformed keep using to strike fear in the hearts of everyone, I'm thinking of getting another one. I'll have to see what kinda Christmas money I have left after the holiday, but I may look into either getting a Colt, or building my own AR. I really hate California and their restrictions. I have been stocking up on ammunition though, but not because of this. I've been doing that for emergency storage, as in my earthquake kit, and stuff like that.

I definitely want to get another one before the forced long gun registration in January but thinking I'll go 80% lowers from here on out... at least until they make them illegal. <_<

I thought about trying this out as well. Even bought a book on how to do it. We might need a walk through for us newbies on this. I have the tools, but I wouldn't want to screw it up. I want one of the .308 80% lowers.

Better than that, hit a build party where they'll have the tools and jigs and guys with the know how to show you what to do and what not to do.

What's funny, is I was going to suggest we do one with everyone here, but was going to suggest it as more of a facetious comment. I didn't know those are actually done. I did find one that can be bought with a jig, and it looked promising.

Good call, nothing kills an earthquake better than a shot in the head. And you can never have enough bullets to stop the evil hordes or Mordor that magically teleport after a quake

- “Oh my god, it’s an emergency!!!”

- “Don’t worry, I HAVE BULLETS!!”

In the rest of the civilized world it isn’t that hard to get guns and riffles. Pretty easy where I live actually. The difference is that we aren’t freaking OBSESSED with them. Good luck getting rid of that.

A Colt AR? Would you happen to know anything about their handguns? I'm in the mood to buy my first 1911, and I'm looking at the Kimber Custom II .45 or the Colt Government 1991 .45; they both look good to me, and I'm trying to decide if the Colt is worth the extra $200.

I thought that was happening in 2014?! Damn, I thought I had a year to buy more long guns!

Would talking about gun control issues be considered politics and therefore not allowed?

It's a difficult balancing act-we're obviously allowed to talk about guns and stuff but we can't involve the politics.

If so, PLEASE leave your politics and Anti-America sentiment out of here-we enjoy the discussions on weapons and would hate to see this thread locked...

I really want a PVS-24 but that's some boku bucks. Up there with S&B and high end Leupold optics

I would get your EBR fix before relatively mundane weapons like 1911, which are much harder to ban as long as the 2nd Amendment stands un-amended/repealed.

Everyone's been giving me the "you're crazy" look, but honestly I'm quite satisfied with my Colt M4 and my gas-piston Ruger SR556 for the rifle side of things. Actually, I was even considering selling the Ruger. Do you guys have rifle ideas I might not be thinking about? At first I was dismayed that I dropped about $4K on guns and 'ammo in 3 months, but seeing the buying madness out there and a possible upcoming ban/increased regulation I'm glad I wasn't "responsible" about my buying, because I think I have my basic gun needs squared away...

That 870 looks damn cool. If that's yours, I'm almost afraid to ask how much that set you back.

I used to have two sequential serial numbered 1911s, but they were made in 1914, and were more collector items than target guns. I have fired Colts, and as for the mechanics, there's nothing wrong with them. They come in the basic package, all the way out to super tricked out everything. It's pretty much up to what finish, and little extras you'd like, but al around, I like them for the money. Don't know much about the Kimber Custom, but hold both of them, and make sure it IS what you want as far as style, functionality, trigger pull, etc. Many look the same, but can be completely different.

Please tell me you're not as ignorant as you just sounded right there. I know that's probably asking for too much, but since you didn't get the point or have the background of where I live, I won't bother explaining it. That has nothing to do with politics, just pointing out some pious ignorance.

"Sigh." My LGS didn't have any more Colt 1991's, but I did check out the Kimber Custom II and the Sig Sauer 1911 XO; I fondled them for over an hour and they felt the same to me! Argh! They both felt great, worked great, etc, etc. The Kimber is $120 less than the 'Sig, but the 'Sig does have those nice 3 white-dot sights, not to mention that everyone in the store is telling me that the 'Sig is the best value for the money vs. the Kimber and the Colt. PPPPbbbbbbbbb!!!!

Id prob go for the Sig.

1911's are nice but down on my list for wants. I just cant get over 8 rounds in a semi auto . I splurged on my one less useful showpiece gun last year. If the world as we know it's still around in an few months it may be time for another one of those purchases.

Oh and my last impulse buy/less useful gun was a 6" 629 S&W 44mag. Its a beast.

I have another AR in my sights and then I can start dabbling in handguns again.

I like the fact that even in shitty states like Cali 1911's can still have magazines with the round counts that god intended them to have. :p

BTW, on the subject of 1911's, this is by far the single sexiest handgun on the planet, no other handgun will ever look this pretty, don't even bother trying. If I wasn't A) habitually bad at saving money and B) didn't have more immediate practical uses for that kind of money (i.e. a newer car, school expenses, a half way decent phone) I would buy a gun identical to this just to stare at it all day.

I'd go with the Sig as well. They make great quality firearms, and I'd trust it by virtue of the fact that most officers I work with mostly use Glocks and Sigs on patrol. Plus, the those 3 dot sights are nice to have, and help acquire the target a bit faster IMO. If they are the night sight version, even better.

Is it that much harder to aim on sights that don't have the white dots? The Kimber Custom II has Novak sights but there's no dot, or anything on them; I figure a tiny, dark piece of metal will be hard to sight with. That damn 92FS spoiled me!

Not hard at all, just a little quicker in my experience.

OK, just got enough money to buy an arsenal, and arm a small gang, so I'm going to start ordering all parts for a custom AR-15, and then going for that sweet HK 10 round .45. Then I'm getting that Eotech with the magnifier (which I know will take some freakin' time). Range trips are going to be a lot more fun. :)
