Auctions Of Great Absurdity Thread V2.0

Guy has been trying to sell a 1/48 scale Club M YF-19 for about a year now, at ¥90,000. Not selling at that price, so of course he lists it a ¥124,800!

Funny though, that he references Macross World in his listing description.

EDIT: He brought the price back down to ¥99,000.

Toynami is now called Hi-Plastic R?

The seller is a member here from which I've acquired a few things in the past. Good interactions.

When I saw that a few days back, I chuckled. Not sure if the average, non-MWF member would get the joke, but funny nonetheless.

Now it's funny that you mentioned that he's a member here since he knows for sure that there's no such thing as 'Hi-Plastic R' and not even putting the brand Toynami name on the main title might confuse prospect buyers. Just saying.

It's weird that he labeled it 'Used'. It's great that he put the shipping paper back properly.

But if I want this Valk, I'll just get a 'New' one for $148.95.

Yeah, absurdity it is.

I think that's the site Metal Man's referring to. When he said he thought he was getting a V2 VF-1 for $600 only to receive a 1/72 Hasegawa kit.

TBH, not sure where they get the pricing to go to what they're selling. Weird. :unknw:

That site is so dubious. All valks in whatever scale and sizes are all $499.

I checked out other random items on that site. I don't think they have one original photo. All the images are rips from other legitimate retailers or review sites (like collectiondx, toyarena, sirtoys, and so on), You can still see the watermarks. They don't even try to hide it.

And what is up with that name? Is it supposed to be a reference to the Cannon Fodder Valkyries?

A Hot Minced Meat V Ali Kyrie? Hm...:mellow::nea:

I mean, how can you tell that the one sold from YJA is also the same one posted on eBay. I mean, price-point-wise, is the eBay seller just crazy knowing that he's selling it too much compared on the YJA price.

Ah...yeah....I can tell just based on the images...but most of the time...cels will also have the frame sequence number....production cels are essentially "one-of-a-kind"....also...the seller is known, among the cell collectors here on MW, to do that all the time....basically, he will buy a cel on YJA and then list it on eBay for an absurd mark-up.....he would probably sell tons more cels if he simply added a fair "finder's fee" on top of his acquisition and other seller fees... .The markups are so high that it almost seems like he really doesn't want to sell any of them....
