Hey... I'm new, so go easy on me.

I'll admit upfront I'm actually a Robotech freak, and I only just saw DYRL for the first time. :p Shame shame, I know.

But anyway, does anyone know if Yamato is planning on re-issuing the Max VF-1J? I can find Milia *cough* Miria *cough* on places like eBay, but I can't find Max. Was he more popular? I'm loving that blue color, I know that.

It'd be great if someone could let me know if I could ever get my hands on one.

BTW - I just got my first 1/48 a few weeks ago. It was a VF-1A Cannon Fodder. Pretty good, my only beef is that the cockpit control board was glued in crooked to the point that the cockpit wouldn't close correctly. Plus I can't figure out how to get the backpack to stay up in Battroid *cough* Battloid *cough* mode. I think I transformed it wrong.

Hey meh cd. Welcome to the boards :D . I wouldn't worry too much about the Robotech / Macross thing on here. I was introduced to the series through Robotech in the 80's, and didn't get exposed to Macross until about 2-3 years ago. While I definitely like the Macross anime better, I still hold some fondness for RT, because if it wasn't for that series, I'd never have been turned onto Macross. And if it wasn't for joining RT.com, I'd never have found this site, which is by far superior in so many ways. There's a few Macross diehards, and RT sometimes gets crapped on pretty good, but still, we're all here for similar reasons... most of us for the Mecha :lol: !!

As far as a Max release, there was a thread somewhere that stated there would be both a Max Super 1J and Miria Super re-release, but no timetable, and I don't know if it was confirmed. Aside from holding your breath for that, the only two places I know of are Ebay, and the for sale threads here on occassion.

ToysNJoy definitely have the Super Max (if you are desperate), I recieved mine 3 months ago. However, I definitely did not pay $299 as priced on the site now. I paid $220 which I'll kick myself if Yamato is re-releasing it later this year, but then again who knows.

Yeah Toys n Joys I can vouch for as I used to work there years ago.

Their Macross prices are a little crazy though. Ouch!

this place used to be more die hard macross fans who hated robotech fans. I was forced to silence myself during those times. But nowadays, they've come to realize that robotech is truly superior to macross and all is well now. Good times ahead. Good times ahead...

No, you silly, the die-hard Macross fans still think Robotech sucks, but Robotech fans can be cool at times.

The "robotech is truly superior to macross" comments, not cool!!! <_<

Here's the only Miria I can find...

http://cgi.ebay.com/YAMATO-Macross-1-48-VF...oQQcmdZViewItem

Gawd it is pricey... I dunno. I mean, if I get Miria or Max, eventually I'm going to have to get the other. What happens if I buy Miria and I can't get ahold of Max?! Nooooooooooo! Plus it is eBay. *hiss* I hate PayPal.

I think I'm going to sit on this for a while. If he has 7 available, how long do you think those will last?

I doubt they're gonna' last too much longer, they've been there a while though. And just to add to what everyone else said --- I would never even have known what Macross was if it wasn't for me watching the Robotech cartoon back when I was a kid in the 80's. Back when the only robotech valkyrie I could find to play with was a transformer named jetfire...

Now I can go broke collecting Yamatos.

Soooo... if I'm going to head off to college, do you think I should buy it while I still have the disposable income? That probably won't last too long.

If you like Yamato 1/48's, and your becoming a macross addict, I say go for it! It's something you can keep for the rest of your life and your kids and grand kids will think you're cool because you have it.

Hey man! Welcome to Macross World.

I too am a Robotech fan. It brought me into this fantastic world...and although I am a fan, as an adult, I tend to be drawn into Macross a whole lot more. But, I am not a Robotech hater. I love Robotech. But Macross, Macross is my crack.

You had trouble with your "back pack" staying up too, eh? I think I know what the issue is with the fast packs, and why you can't get them to stay up in batroid, er battleoid mode.

It's really a simple solution. When I first got my 1/48, I was afraid of it! Seriously, at that time, it was the most expensive toy I had ever owned. I was afraid to apply pressure of any kind. To press on any part, to do anything! And, the directions didn't help me either, they are not the best. I mean, I don't read Japanese, (although I can speak a little) but the images made some of the "little details" difficult to process. Yamato makes the best toys out there, no doubt, but their photographers and graphic artists are less then desired. They do not do the toy any justice, and yeah. The whold directions thing. I mean, all you have to do islook at the "artwork" for the 1/48 boxes. They're okay, but they can be so much better. It is a minimal gripe, cause like I said, there has never been a toy as amazing as the 1/48.

I got derailed. Let's get back to your Valk's "backpack" problem.

Transform *cough* your valk into battleoid (battroid) mode. Look at the back. The piece that closes shut against the top center of the back (that the "back pack" sets against) can be "pushed in." It does not just rest there, like in the Toynami so called Masterpiece veritechs, or the 1/55 Bandais. This may sound confusing, so I took some pictures to help you out. See pic one.

It may not look like it, but it can and will push in. See Pic 2. It's designed to. It will snap into place.

As I said earlier, 1/55 versions did not "push in". But this piece is designed to. Once it's pushed in, press the "back pack" up against it. There is a little "hook" like device that swings over, and *SNAPS* over the top of the backpack. This will hold the backpack in place. See pic 3, 4 & 5.

Now, the super / strike parts will fit in without "falling" over. See pic 6.

I am no photographer, but I do hope these pictures and directions help out a bit!

Oh, and this is my custom 1S Low Vis. No where near being done, but a great visual to accompany my demonstration.

I hope this helps! PM me if you need anything else!

Bingo. That was the mistake I made. I never pushed that one piece in. Woohoo. Thanks.

Nice! I made the same mistake 2. It's so obvious a solution that, well, it isn't that obvious!

Damn, the 1/48's are so sweet. Enjoy it. PM me if you need anything else!
