JELEINEN
I've heard good things on this board about Legend Of The Galactic Heroes (Hildensagen vom Kosmosinsel) so I downloaded all 105 episodes on bittorrent. I'm on episode 38 and it is now my favorite anime of all time You're 5 episodes short. I also recommend not downloading the rips of the Chinese bootlegs and sticking with the Central releases. Mallet21
I'm watching Capeta right now. Its about a kid progressing up the ranks of go-kart racing with his eye on F1. Once you get past the goofy character designs its a great show.
Capt Hungry
I have been watching Ikki Tousen and it's a total guilty pleasure. But it does have moments of brilliant humor. I also want to keep up with Air Gear (being a skater), it looks like it's got potential to be really fun. JELEINEN
Just started watching Moonlight Mile. Only the first two eps are subbed, but it's pretty good. It's near future SF, and it looks like it's going to mix fairly realistic space colonization with some heavy international politics.

thegunny
I'm looking forward to BGC quite a bit. I've only seen 2040 before. I didn't think it was as bad as people make it out to be, but then I'd never seen the original before. Get ready for some great 80's rock music Kinuko Oomori could sure thump out the notes, Hurricane being a perfect example. Hope you've got the latest release as it's got all the music video's that were released for the series and full versions of all the songs 2040 was good but the music sucked compared to BGC. I reckon BG Crash tanked in the music department as well, as the original rock singer that played Priss was replaced with a J-Pop singer
chrono
Just started watching Moonlight Mile. Only the first two eps are subbed, but it's pretty good. It's near future SF, and it looks like it's going to mix fairly realistic space colonization with some heavy international politics. Just watched the first episode today and yeow! I'm in heaven! It's like they've animated some of Ben Bova's material!!! I'm in SF heaven with this series and REALLY hope that the manga comes over, because it looks like this is gonna be some great stuff! I also finished watching Aquarian Age, Dai-Guard, Gravion & Zwei, and Divergence Eve. Aquarian Age - don't even go NEAR this one! This baby isn't even rental material. It's just flat out horrible stuff, even if you give it a shoujo label. It's 12 episodes that with some thought could've been turned into a 38 episode worthwhile title, but they barely wrote enough to fill up 7 episodes let alone the 12 that it got. If you feel a WTF! at the end of NGE then you'll go WTF!?!?!?! at the end of this one. The plot/story is too full of holes to be coherent. Dai-Guard - another stinker that's a rental at most. Virtually no plot or meaningful story beyond the standard "Community is all." material Divergence Eve - brain meltingly good stuff! A great show, even with the ridiculous fan service, that puts time & history to great use without sounding badly cliched. It probably has one of the best secondary character death scenes since Alien!!! It's one of those very few SF show that uses science possibilities to it's benefit without using it as a massive crutch. If you liked 2001 then you'll probably like this one. Gravion & Gravion Zwei - are pretty combiner mecha shows that are 'ok' and ones that you have to be a real mecha head to really enjoy, because it's so damned full of usual cliches, stereotypes, fetishs, and fan service that it will almost make a normal person gag. It's very nice visually with often characters being in focus with blurried background objects, which is something becoming increasingly rare at normal animation levels. It has the standard enemy's leveling up, but overall it's got a nice casual viewer watchability to it. A solid rental. Now to finish My-Hime, Ten-Ten, AMG!, and work on my Noein. wolfx
Up till ep 15 of Samurai 7. I know nothing about Akira Kurosawa's classic samurai epic, but this anime is pretty good for casual watching. More of a tale of adventure of a rag tag band of samurai who fight for good and honour protecting a peasant village from the Bandits who use mecha. More of a tale of adventure of a rag tag band of samurai who fight for good and honour protecting a peasant village from the Bandits who use mecha. The basic story and Samurai characters are the same just without colors, mechas, steam-punk, the water maiden stuff and fewer sub plots. I finished School Rumble 1st & 2nd Semester this weekend. Enjoyed every second of it. Thanks for the recommendation. I think I'm taking an animation break.

do not disturb
i've been trying to get through Orguss but its a pain trying to reading subtitles while trying to concentrate on the animation and it doesn't help the english translation usually makes no sense. i still don't understand why they keep calling him "special point"? The Shade
Someone has lent me the '94 Gatchaman OVA set on VHS. Oh man, it's terrible, and I've only watched one episode (of three) so far. The "updated" character designs remind me of the Image Comics artists' work during the mid 90's. Then again, so does the plot & dialogue. Oh well, sometimes, you gotta watch terrible shows in order to really appreciate the good ones.
bsu legato
Btw, someone knows if ILA plans to release the complete .torrent of Orguss one day or if we'll have to leech on IRC to get the episodes between 5 and final? Judging by the comments on their web site, I would say the chances of a batch torrent are somewhere between nil and nonexistant. In fact, they seem to take joy in being deliberately antagonistic towards BT users, and just today vowed that several episodes would remain "exclusive" to their IRC channel. Comments like that make me so glad that we've moved beyond the days when fansubbers sought to control the release of their media and to restrict access to it. chrono
bsu legato, we still haven't. It only feels different because their are more subbers out there. Hell manga's gotten the exact same way, but at least you can tell who the real scanlators are and who are the real thieves. Well several new shows are coming out and I just got done watching one called Heroic Age. Not to bad, but not to good either. Kinda flat animation, but with slightly better then average 3D. It's a SF mecha show that seems to be shonen styled, but it's too early to tell right now. But the main design very much reminds you of a shark. For myself it reminds me of a Terrasque/Genocyber/Orgun crossbreed of Nono power levels. Hopefully it'll have a solid story, because overall the quality is about C+ level(slightly below standard). Capt Hungry
Started watching Gundam Seed Destiny, the Gundam designs are cool. I am kind of pleased that I can watch it subtitled. The Gundams in this one seem to be WAY overpowered, but you gotta like the colored beam weapons. I also have watched the first couple episodes of Coyote Ragtime, this one may prove interesting as well. Likeable characters and almost sort of a Cowboy Bebop feel (almost). bsu legato
I just watched a new fansub of 1998's DT Eightron. ANN has very little on the show, but according to Wiki it had some impressive critical praise, even if it never was that popular. It was alright, even though it was plainly the anime equivalent of THX 1138. I've also downloaded 78% of the first 5 episodes of Dougram, in raw format. God only knows when this torrent will finish though. I seem to have trouble getting a reliable connection to the one and only seed, and there's few other peers connected. JELEINEN
Watched the first episode of Lucky Star and it was pretty good. The opening is like Suzumiya on speed. The show itself is the same sort of no-plot commedies like Azudai or Strawberry Marshmallow, except one of the main characters is a hard core otaku. Not terribly orriginal, but well executed and fun. The Shade
Had been watching Eureka 7 on YTV, but in an incredibly weird move, they decided to only license half the series. Since this one was so good so far, I decided to finish it watching it by fansubs. The only really weird part so far is the change of voices and the translation of some of the technical terms. I watched ep 30 last night. Man, YTV stopped just when this series started to get really really interesting.
wolfx
Its a new season! Started watching new ones: Lucky Star : yay....aya hirano, Kyoto Animation, Azumanga-ish storyteling....teh win! Gurren Luggann : FTW....check Gurren Lagann thread for more info. Hayate The Combat Butler : Haha.....funny loli tsundere show...with the same voice actress as Shana and Louise. Nagasarete Airantou : Wow...i've been away from harem for far too long. Nagasarete Airantou delivers! Guy gets stuck in an island filled with beautiful (horny) ladies. Nosebleeds aplenty. Idolm@ster Xenoglassia: Mixed feelings. From 2 episodes I feel kinda bored. Based on the arcade/Xbox360 game, Idolmaster, the anime puts the idols as candidates for getting to pilot robots , instead of getting a gig to sing and dance. Claymore: One of the more anticipated titles this season. Didn't really strike a chord in me. Another one of those "bad ass protagonist going around the world killing things while we discover her sad past" with an annoying sidekick. After 2 eps, feels cookie cutterish. And a series from last season i just started: Soukyou No Strain From 1st ep, I thought this will be sorta like Harry Potter with mecha. Girl aspires to meet her brother who is a war hero so she studies hard to be a mecha pilot. Then towards the end of the episode, the whole school gets attacked with the main building and dorms exploded. Then alll her friends die! ZOMG COOL. mpchi
I'm onto the remake of Tetsujin 28: I like! Otherwise, I'm downloading Code Geass and Heroic Age ep2 The Tetsujin 28 Remake is a great TV series with high quality production. Love the stories too. But don't seem like it has a lot of followers. Definitely one of the best robot shows in the past couple years, with a touch of detective story flavor in it. Definitely a great remake with the right combination of something old and new. As for me, I am rewatching Votoms, as well as my newly acquired Votoms OVA DVDs.

Nagasarete Airantou's manga form is just plain great fun and nice comedic light reading. It has some of the best animal characters in awhile. Strain.... after the 4th episode, if you last that long, of plotless schoolmate harassment it's pretty clear that the story is plotless and badly produced. Thank god it only lasted a few episodes! I gotta admit this seasons anime is bleh/meh! Biggest disappointment for me is Kissdum's fairly typical mystic superpower plot. Heroic Age has done more with character & plot development then Kissdum & Gurren Lagann combine.... At least Ultimate Hellsing is still going...
