Gui
The Tetsujin 28 Remake is a great TV series with high quality production. Love the stories too. But don't seem like it has a lot of followers. Definitely one of the best robot shows in the past couple years, with a touch of detective story flavor in it. Definitely a great remake with the right combination of something old and new. A great show, yeah, but I can't compare with the original 'cause I never watched it: someone knows if there's a lot of dissimilarities or is it more of a reanimating (which keeps the same atmosphere and overall plot, even if basically) only with less eps? JELEINEN
Just finished watching Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (The Girl Who Leaped Through Time) subbed (had watched it raw before) and man was it amazing. It's a great film and I highly recommend seeing it if you get the chance.
Gui
I'm onto Code Geass nowadays: very cool but something's missing in IMO. Also, the relationship between Lelouch and his childhood friend (never remember his name...) reminds me too much of Gundam Seed. Otherwise, it's very watchable I'll probably watch Innocent Venus just after this

This , friend, is anime of the year. Awesome stuff. They should make more stuff like this. Well the whole thing between Suzaku and Lelouch is not something new in anime or stories for that matter. Its just something to add to the drama between protagonists and something to spur their motivations. About Innocent Venus, i'll give you a gentle warning not to expect too much from it. I did.....sorely disappointed. JELEINEN: I wanna watch Tokikake! Sent u a PM!
bsu legato
Moonlight Mile is a surprisingly adult-oriented near future SF anime. 7 episodes in, and I have to recommend it. A word of warning though: There's no toyetic robots to be found here, so the "won't watch it unless there's a Kaiyodo Revoltech figure" crowd are sure to be disappointed. T.V.
Watching Moonlight Mile and Monster at the moment. Moonlight Mile is a pretty straightforward macho show, laced with near future political intrigue. Fun, but not as challenging as it looks. Monster caught me by suprise. I didn't expect much of it, but this may be the best show I've ever seen. I'm about 3/4 in and it tops about everything I've seen before. It's truely engaging and well written.
bigkid24
Right now I'm downloading Detective Academy Q. I haven't seen any of the episodes yet but it sounds interesting. I heard that Deathnote was good but I don't know anything about that show either.

Yeah I was kinda caught off guard by the one scene, and I don't mean the bar scenes ! It did put you a good frame of mind in it's setting of the anime. The astronaut running for air COMPLETELY reminded me of the moonbase scenes from the Planetes manga! Great stuff. Heroic Age is really starting to shape up. It has "Odessy" written all over it! But the animation quality is getting to be horrible and the last few minutes of episode 5 were UGH!

JELEINEN
My only problem with Moonlight Mile, so far has been the pacing. They're trying to make it more episodic and drawing out stories that should only have taken a few minutes of screen time to tell and aren't worh an entire episode. Watched the first episode of The Skull Man. Not bad. I'm trying to figure out if it's set in the future or in an alternate time line.

I think it's the 'young student who leads the main terrorist group in Japan' concept which bugs me. Otherwise, it is indeed a very qualitative show About Innocent Venus, i'll give you a gentle warning not to expect too much from it. I did.....sorely disappointed. Yup, I noticed this aswell: I'm already onto ep8 and I think I'll finish this quickly in order to pass onto something else, with better animatiuon and a deeper storyline... Capt Hungry
Watched the first episode of something called Kurau. I didn't quite know what to expect with this one. The only explanation of the series was a brief description of the first episode. Thought it was going to be about a 12yr old girl, but it fast forwards to Kurau as a 21 yr old. She seems to be a thief for hire I think. Looks like it'll be a good show though. Also started watching Mezzo and Geobreeders recently.

ruskiiVFaussie
Just winding up on the last episodes of Mazinger Z. Got to see the episode where they FINALLY get the Jet Scrambler up and running.. err rather flying. lol BOUT TIME. But i have a question... i bought this off ebay, it's the original tv series.. What OVAs are there? I know Mazinger eventually gets upgraded to the 'Great Marzinger'.. and then Mazinkaiser? So... what other series do i need to grab? I am trying to remember my watching of Mazinger Z somepoint in my childhood. I DEFFINENTLY remember Jet Scrambler, so Maz Z flew... and i remember the Sword. PLEASE don't spoil it for me and say he gets the sword in another OVA. I only have a few more episodes i think, then i'm done. But yeah, it's the english dub... which is absolutely hilarious. lol Badly done, but forgivable. Sound quality is weird, but i like this series. I will eventually buy the original Jap, but for now i am just rekidling my childhood memories. I remember i rented a VHS and it had Mazinger Z in his first format. But it's hard, that's a fair while ago. And it seems different and contrary to what i remember. Sound effects from the anime i remember most. Please no spoilers, but what other OVA's tv series, and movies are there for me to be complete? I am really thinking of picking up a SOC 2nd Mazinger Z as well. I got the Mazinkaiser Revoltech and it kick ass. Anyways that's all i'm watching for now! The Macross marathon is all but a month and a half away. In between then i will watch the Eva series and movies again. Been a while. Edited May 9, 2007 by ruskiiVFaussie
wolfx
Just watched Tokikake (the girl who jumped through time). I liked it pretty much and I liked it better than most of Miyazaki's stuff....seriously. The slice of life (isn't it slice o life season?) + sci-fi time travel and possible quantum physics? But who cares about the boggling sci-fi eh? Also noticed one of the stills shown when time stopped was a black cat in a box with poison......you guys know what this means , right? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger's_cat Quantum physics mumbo jumbo ensues....and possibly covers up possible time-travel plot holes. Keith
If you're just up to the Jet Scrander episodes, then there's a lot more you don't have. I think Mazinger Z was about 70 episodes. I'm still only midway myself (put it on back burner while I watch some other stuff), but Great Mazinger is the follow up series, and unfortunately, there's no HK release of it as of yet. Gui
On these last days, I watched Iczer One (very average) and Blue submarine N°6 (far better even if telling's a bit confusing at times...) chrono
Well after jumping on the manga Claymore(i love the mangka's work), I figured that I'd give the anime a spin. Holy Frigging W0W! I had NO idea it would be so detailed in it's crispness, which is something you just don't see in many animes now-a-days. The same goes for the nearly pure black instead of the dark shades of gray that they use in other animes. Close and medium range character art holds together very well, but distance animation is pretty bad and the backgrounds are nearly all of the painted style so much of that is immobile and lacking in color. It definitely gets my pick for best anime this season even though it only rates a B+ at most. So if your looking for a darker version of The Slayers without much comedy then Claymore is for you. Duke Togo
I've watched Evangelion twice over this past week. After hearing about this four part re-imaging in production (which is probably what should have been done with Eva in the first place, a shorter OVA series), I decided I should reacquaint myself with the series that so put me off the first time I saw it (which was years ago). I had never seen the director's cut episodes (21-24), nor had I seen End of Evangelion with any sort of english translation. So I went remastered, going episodes 1-20 as one usually would, 21-24 as the director's cut, and 25 & 26 as End of Evangelion. I decided not to even bother with the original 21-26. So, what do I think now? I still think its over-hyped, I still think the story turned out to be a real mess (though I now fully understand the circumstances behind this), but its a far better experience watching it as I did this past week. I actually enjoyed it, so much so I watched it again to get a better grasp on the series. Also, this was the first time I actually really got to reading about their rather horrendous production problems. Hopefully this upcoming 4 parter will show us what their true intentions were all those years ago when they made those first 6 episodes.

Patiently awaitng for my download of episode 7 to complete. All in all its a cool show. Although i'm kinda confused why some are calling it shounen anime. IIRC, shounen has mostly a female cast right? Claymore, for me looks me like a cross between Bleach and Mai-Otome (w/o the contracts for the otome of course), but of a more darker tone and very bloody. I think the proper comparison is, Berserk, with boobs. Now its the "Teresa arc" which is sorta a long flashback which IMHO is more interesting than the main Clare arc. When i started the show I was kinda thinking of dropping it. Superhuman half demon half human killers sent to kill demons that disguise themselves as humans during day and eat humans at night. Claymores dispatched to kill the Yoma on sight. Claymores pwn everything you can throw at them, but at the cost of their own humanity since they will turn into demons one day. Snore.....normal shounen sorta fare, until the Teresa arc which is more interesting.
