jenius
Carl, where are you? You gonna buy this thing or what? The stickers are applied but at least you'll have some hint at what the stickers were supposed to be. Hey, if you hate having duplicates don't let that stop you, I'll gladly take the extra one off your hands
robokochan
Man how many of these things are there? It seems to not be as rare as people thought. They just keep popping up...

nightmareB4macross
I have read many conflicting stories, years ago, regarding the actual production numbers. IIRC, there were a dozen or so of these released to the public. While there were 1000 held up in customs somewhere in Asia. No one has heard nor seen the 1000 since. Don't hold me to this, I just can't recall the facts and numbers. Maybe Xstoys can fill us in on this. Man how many of these things are there? It seems to not be as rare as people thought. jenius
If guesses count: 200 Henshin Robo betas (all blue) 10 - Gakken of Japan Prototypes. One red, one green, the rest blue for photo ops and the execs. Again, that's purely a guess. Of those, the amount remaining would likely be very small. I think we're seeing them now because some shrewd collectors probably think the Toynami release will devalue there Gakken versions. I do recall the "1000 pieces held up in customs story" from some years ago, but I can't confirm or deny it. As far as I know, Carl Hoff has one of the few existing documented Japanese Gakken prototypes; his being blue. I hear there is also a "red" Tread prototype in Japan, as well as a black. My understanding is that the owner of the "red" Tread wiil not even allow his Tread to be photographed, until another Tread prototype (blue, I believe) he owns is sold first (@ some ridiculous price of course). The "black" prototype is a story which I was told by a very reputable authority of Japanese vinatge toys. I have NOT personally seen any evidence of either the red or black Tread prototypes ... just stories. Over the years, I have seen @ 10 or so Treads pop up, mostly blue Lansay. The one I own is perhaps one of the best kept specimens of a Lansay Tread. I have the complete box (w/ minor wear & tear) & styrofoam, as well as the sticker sheet (unapplied), instructions, alpha, & original gun still on the sprue tree. I would say mine is in better shape & more complete than the one up for auction right now. Edited December 8, 2005 by xstoys
myk
Wow. I didn't even know there was a Tred toy. What scale is that set in?
jenius
1/72 If anyone here is bidding on it I think I have a spare gun to go with the Alpha. That ought to make it 100% complete. Edited December 8, 2005 by jenius
nightmareB4macross
Closer to completion. You still need the stickers and the instruction sheet. 1/72If anyone here is bidding on it I think I have a spare gun to go with the Alpha. That ought to make it 100% complete. 350689[/snapback]
