They were talking about online gaming, and warning parents about "griefers", roving bands of bad players who go around creating havoc in servers. By the time the parents have discovered thier kids secret, the kids are now adults and are still using the hackerspeak. Given how long it took for them to figure this out, it shows how little attention parents pay to thier kids.
