Just a gauge to see how many would see something like this happen in their local city. I have posted this idea on another thread. I had stated, if a couple of avid collectors would consider amassing their cumulative and valuable objects to be displayed locally at their cities by renting out studio space how would the general public or yourself react to the idea?

It depends on the money amount. I have seen some displays like that at the Puyallup Fair here in Seattle/Tacoma, Washington. There is a museum for ppl to see ppl's collection. There were one that had a huge SW figures. I mean my GI Joe collection would rival it but still. There were Lego towns and train sets. I would think Anime would to small a group to focus on though.

I think it is a pretty cool idea. It would be a great day out for the kids, taking some out of town relatives out for a day, good family fun for all :)

It would have to be a pretty expansive thing though, I would want to see toys from history, from around the world, aside from just the collectors toys that we all know and love there is a ton of interesting stuff out there. Civil war dolls, dice made from lead bullets that soldiers used to play with. In fact, there is such a wide array of things from throughout history youcould have tons of exhibits, areas for kids to play with ancient toys that bronze age kids would have played with, right up to modern stuff.

Every country could have their own historic sections

It sounds like a pretty darn good idea to me.

it would be cool if there were enough people to come and enjoy it and help keep the place going. i mean, there has to be a "scene" of some sort in order for it to get attention. who knows? maybe some rich crazed (or should i say eccentric) toy nut will put a museum together one day.

We don't need to build a museum.... we can just go to Godzilla's house and loot it

You can try but you will meet my friends Remington, Smith, and Wesson. :p

remington....like the guy who makes electric shavers?

smith....like granny smiths apple pie?

wesson....like the vegetable oil?

so let me get this straight, you're going to feed me apple pie, cover me with vegetable oil, then shave me? i'd rather you just shoot me. :p

Keeping in mind that toy nostalgia, while common to almost all people, is not a huge draw. Such a museum would have appeal, but keep in mind the limits of what one can do, afford, and the number of people that would actually go.

I admit, I'd love to go to such a museum. However, it would have to offer a wide variety of different objects from different decades or centuries to modern and post-modern. I couldn't just include japanese toys, regardless of how much I or most of the members here enjoy them. It would also be great to see display of design lineages, such as similar toys made over different decades (like the way Valkyrie models/toys have progressed in just 20 years, to use a easily understandable reference). It would be great to see Tonka toys or Hot Wheels and how they changed from decade to decade, in both design and materials. Or how much they haven't changed.

Wooden toys would also be a must. I've sometimes seen examples of incredibly complex and advanced wooden toys displayed at the odd museum or antique show. These things even amaze people who are not really interested in toys, simply because custom woodworking is such a lost art in our increasingly mass manufactured society.

The museum would be a terrific idea. I actually have though about doing such a prodject, and have it free for everyone to enjoy. I just dont think I could afford to build and run one with out having to charge an entrance fee. My idea was to have like an anime cafe included in the building and shows running so people can watch some anime. It would be a safe place for collecters to store and display there collecatibles without taking up space in there house.

I also agree that it may get old quickly for the majority of the public. So i have some ideas, like to make it like Disneyland. We could have animatronics, real working robots, ect...... It would be great to walk in the museum, and have a full size 1 to 1 scale valk, legioss, or optimus prime in robot mode. They have full scale blue whales haging from the ceiling at the long beach aquarium. we could have stuff like that in the museum. We could even have ride simulators. HOw about a ride in a valk in gerwalk mode. Interesting Yes! And for all you cutomizers, what more could you ask for, than to have your prodjects displayed in a museum, under museum quality lighting, and protection. I have seen some great art work, and custom prodjets fail, due to lack of space.

It would be neat, to see a kid, into power rangers, see that they came out in the 70s. I know a lot of us are in the So. Cal. area. We all could donate some time and skill and maybe make this happen. This would totally be fun. If anybody is seriously planning on doing something like this, I would like to join in. We should really start something like this. B))
