  1. One of the most beloved storybook icons of the 20th century hits the big screen for the first time. Paddington is the tale of a talking bear who migrates from Peru to London, where he is taken in by a family. Directed by Paul King (The Mighty Boosh), the film features the voices of Ben Whishaw (Q in Skyfall and SPECTRE) as Paddington, Michael Gambon (Dumbledore in Harry Potter 3-6) as Uncle Pastuzo, and Imelda Staunton (Dolores in Harry Potter) as Aunt Lucy. Also starring are Nicole Kidman (Judy in BMX Bandits, Claudia in Nine), Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley in Downtown Abbey), Sally Hawkins (Dr. Graham in Godzilla), Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Julie Walters (Mrs. Weasley in Harry Potter), Jim Broadbent (Don Speekingleesh in Black Adder, Frank Butterman in Hot Fuzz), Peter "The Twelfth Doctor" Capaldi (Doctor Who), and Paddington Bear creator Michael Bond. Paddington premiered in the UK on November 28, 2014, and is set to hit U.S. theaters on January 16. It is already a box-office hit (US$109.7 million and counting) and a critical success (98% on Rotten Tomatoes). Official Site Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 98% Metacritic Score: 75 out of 100
  2. Maleficent is Disney's live-action prequel/remake of their 1959 animated classic Sleeping Beauty. The film marks the directorial debut of production designer Robert Stromberg (Alice in Wonderland, Oz the Great and Powerful) and stars Angelina Jolie (like no one here knows who she is...) as the iconic Disney villain. Also starring are Elle Fanning (Dakota Fanning's lesser-known sister) as Princess Aurora, Sharlto Copley (Wikus in District 9, Kruger in Elysium) as King Stefan, Brendon Thwaites (Jonas in The Giver) as Prince Phillip, Juno Temple (Jen in The Dark Knight Rises, Sally in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) as Thistlewit, Sam Riley (Vincent in 13, Darvell in Byzantium) as Diaval, Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter in the Harry Potter series, Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland) as Queen Ulla, and Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake, Dolores Jane Umbridge in the Harry Potter series) as Knotgrass. The film hits theaters on May 30, 2014. Official Site
