Zootopia has been under our radar for months, mostly because the trailers weren't that impressive. However, even before its official U.S. release on March 4, the film is already receiving rave reviews. Coming to theaters on April 15, 2016 is Disney's live-action adaptation of their beloved animated classic The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man 1-2, Cowboys & Aliens). Coming to theaters on November 25 is The Good Dinosaur, which may be Pixar's most difficult project. Originally slated for release in 2014, the film experienced production problems toward the third act to a point where the whole film had to be scrubbed and the entire voice cast had to be changed after original director Bob Peterson left the project. Then, as the years passed, you forgot most of them. And when you saw them on DVD, you thought to yourself, "I actually enjoyed that movie when I was younger?" Take Condorman, for example. It flopped at the box office and was heavily panned by critics. Kids back then thought it was cool because Condorman could fly and had a badass supercar. Today, one can't help but laugh at the film - not because it is mostly a comedy, but because its production values are laughable. The storyline is ridiculously hokey, the acting is unbearably cheesy and the wiring is clearly visible in the scenes where Woody uses his Condorman suit. And a lot of Porsche fans are still pissed off by the car chase scene. But who cares?! This falls under the category of "it's so bad, it's good." It's that one toy in your prized collection that everyone hates. Despite all the bad parts mentioned above, Condorman has an equal amount of great parts in it. The cinematography is excellent - especially with the use of Paris, Monte Carlo and Switzerland as the film's settings. And the music by the late, great Henry Mancini (1924-1994) (The Pink Panther, Peter Gunn) gives the film a sense of epicness. Also, you gotta admit that Barbara Carrera was hot in this movie. Of course, this movie could use a little bit of remastering TLC, as the DVD shows it hasn't aged well. Hopefully, Disney will give more attention to this underrated classic. In short, Condorman is an acquired taste, but it's still one of the greatest guilty pleasure films of the 20th century. Maleficent is Disney's live-action prequel/remake of their 1959 animated classic Sleeping Beauty. The film marks the directorial debut of production designer Robert Stromberg (Alice in Wonderland, Oz the Great and Powerful) and stars Angelina Jolie (like no one here knows who she is...) as the iconic Disney villain. Muppets Most Wanted is the upcoming sequel to the highly acclaimed 2011 film The Muppets. James Bobin and Nicholas Stoller will return as director and writer, respectively. All the main Muppets from the previous film will be back, with Walter having a significantly smaller role. The film stars Ricky Gervais (David Brent in The Office, Dr. McPhee in Night at the Museum 1-2), Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy in Modern Family) and Tina Fey (Liz Lemon in 30 Rock). And what's a Muppet movie without cameo appearances? Scheduled to make cameos are Sean "Diddy" Combs (the most overrated rapper/entrepreneur), Celine Dion (some Canadian pop diva), Tom Hiddleston (Loki in Thor and The Avengers), Frank Langella (Robot & Frank), Ray Liotta (Tommy Vercetti in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City), Danny Trejo (Machete), Usher (he introduced us to Justin Bieber, unfortunately), and Christoph Waltz (Col. In 1994, Disney released Gargoyles, proving that they can make a serious action cartoon and go head-to-head with Batman: The Animated Series. Gargoyles is known not only for its darker tone, complex story arcs and Shakespearean themes, but also for the people behind the voices such as Keith David (Childs in The Thing, Armitage in They Live), Ed Asner (Carl in Up), Michael Dorn (Mr. Worf in Star Trek: The Next Generation), Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troi in Star Trek: TNG), Jonathan Frakes (Riker in Star Trek: TNG), John Rhys-Davies (Sallah in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), and Richard Grieco (Dennis Booker in 21 Jump Street and Booker), just to name a few. The series lasted for three seasons and 78 episodes before going off the air in 1997. The Pirate Fairy is Disney's next animated film, set for release on April 1, 2014. It is the fifth installment in DisneyToons Studios Tinker Bell series, with Mae Whitman (Katara in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Roxy Richter in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) reprising her role as Tinker Bell. Also featured are the voices of Christina Hendricks (Blanche in Drive, Lois Lane in All-Star Superman) as Zarina and Tom Hiddleston (Loki in Thor and The Avengers) as a young Captain Hook. So yeah, Loki's in it, which probably means it's gonna be really good. Official Site

Disney and the crew behind the Pirates of the Caribbean series bring The Lone Ranger back to the big screen, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Gore Verbinski. Armie Hammer (the Winklevoss twins in The Social Network) puts on the mask as the title character, while Johnny Depp plays his trusty partner Tonto. How much Disney paid Depp for this is anyone's guess. Also starring in the film are William Fichtner (Ken Rosenberg in the Grand Theft Auto series, bank manager in The Dark Knight), Ruth Wilson (Jane Eyre, Princess Betsy in Anna Karenina), James Badge Dale (Chase in 24, Eric Savin in Iron Man 3), Tom Wilkinson (Falcone in Batman Begins, IMF Leader in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol), Barry Pepper (Jonnie Tyler in Battlefield Earth, Pvt. Over a year after it was announced, Disney's decided to uncharactaristically unveil the first episode of the new series for free on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjbwVzJR8w4&feature=player_embedded Just watched the whole thing, and after expecting absolutely nothing from a Disney XD series, I was totally blown away. The story, design style, acting, execution, all suprisingly awesome. Dare I say better than the first episode of the new Thundercats series. The character design & animation reminds me of a combination of Tron Legacy & the old Out Of This World PC game series. Dare I say this first episode was so good i totally expect this series to get canceleld becasue there's no way I trust a kids cable network to support it. Here's hoping I'm wrong and it has a full story arc run. I also hope they can keep up the story & animation quality, but considering it's got a heavy dose of CG, the aesthetic should at least hold up. Oh, and did I mention Starbuck is the voice of the grid?

Lowdown It's great to be a Muppet fan again. The Muppets is not only the first Muppet film in over 12 years, it celebrates the 35th anniversary of The Muppet Show. And what a triumphant return! Just about every Muppet you grew up with is back, and they're as wacky as ever. Many of their characteristics are still intact as if the last episode of The Muppet Show (which aired in 1981) was just yesterday. Even The Muppet Telethon opening number is spot-on to the original show's iconic sequence. And even though Walter is the newest Muppet, he really holds his ground as the film's lead Muppet. Another big plus is, as with all Muppet features, the music. You can't help but sing along to the musical numbers - even the ever-cheesy Starship song "We Built This City". And the Muppet Barbershop Quartet's rendition of Nirvana's "Smell's Like Teen Spirit" is priceless. Of course, this film wouldn't be complete without new performances of the landmark Muppet songs "Rainbow Connection" and "Mah Na Mah Na". But perhaps the main showstopper is the Oscar-winning song "Man or Muppet" by Gary and Walter. Yes, the Muppets are great as usual, but how about the human actors? Jason Segel and Amy Adams deliver a great performance, even though Adams is not as cute as she was in her previous films. Chris Cooper doesn't do much as the film's villain, but even for such a cheesy role, he is one villain you'd love to hate. Jack Black's uncredited appearance really brings down the house as the Muppets kidnap him and torture him with their skits. The cameo list is a who's who of stars from yesterday and today, including Sheldon Cooper as Walter's human form in the "Man or Muppet" segment. In short, The Muppets is not only a big love letter to long-time Muppet fans, but also one of the best family films of this century. Shortly after the release of At World's End, the last (and weakest) of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, there have been talks of a possible fourth Pirates film. So far, here are the details gathered over the past year: * The new film will be a loose adaptation of the 1988 Tim Powers novel On Stranger Tides. Since the novel involves the Fountain of Youth, there should be no problem connecting it with the trilogy, as At World's End left off with Jack Sparrow and Barbossa venturing to search for the fabled fountain. * Geoffrey Rush will be reprising his role as Barbossa. * Keira Knightley is not interested in returning in the film as Elizabeth Swann-Turner. Same with Orlando Bloom, who played Will Turner in the trilogy. * Gore Verbinski was to have returned as the film's director, but he was busy planning out the film adaptation of the game Bioshock (which has been put on hold). Rob Marshall (Memoirs of a Geisha, Chicago) will take the director's chair instead. * Seeing that the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise is nothing without Jack Sparrow, Disney announced that Johnny Depp will be paid $55.5 million to reprise his role. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is currently in pre-production and is expected to be released before Disney's remake of The Lone Ranger (which also stars Depp). Hopefully, it will be much better than At World's End.

This Summer, Disney/Pixar will release the sequel to their 2006 hit film Cars. Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy will return as Lightning McQueen and Mater, respectively. Joining the cast will be Michael Caine as Finn McMissile, Emily Mortimer (Rachel in Shutter Island, Nicole in The Pink Panther) as Holly Shiftwell, Jason Isaacs (Lucius in the Harry Potter series) as Siddeley, Joe Mantegna (Joey in The Godfather Part III) as Grem and Peter Jacobson (Dworkin in Law & Order) as Acer. It is unknown, however, if certain characters from the first film will return; Paul Newman (Doc Hudson), George Carlin (Filmore) and Joe Ranft (Red and Peterbilt) have passed on since then. One night, on his way to pick up his younger brother Jeff, he falls into a ravine deep in a forest and is knocked unconscious. When he comes to, he finds out that he is in the year 1986 - eight years after his parents reported him missing. Everything and everyone around him has changed over the years, except for him. Overwhelmed by the events that just happened, David passes out and is taken to a hospital, where doctors perform tests on him to find out where he's been for the past eight years. Meanwhile, NASA officials arrive at a scene where an unidentified flying object just crashed through some power lines. They take the ship to their facilities to examine it. At the same time, while David is undergoing a test, his brainwaves transmit information directly related to the spacecraft. He is promptly taken in by NASA for 48 hours, where they discover that his brain contains alien navigational data and star charts. It doesn't take long before David leaves his room in the facility and makes contact with the ship, where he realizes he is its navigator. Together, David and the ship's pilot - nicknamed "Max" - leave the NASA base and embark on a journey to fulfill Max's mission. "Compliance!" Over the past 30 years, Disney's live-action films haven't usually been the memorable type. Most of them were fun to watch when you were younger, but nowadays, you'd steer clear of them. Some of them are just plain crap, such as Flubber, National Treasure, The Pacifier and the Jackie Chan version of Around the World in 80 Days. (I personally haven't seen The Black Hole, but if you have, and thought it was crap, feel free to tell us about it.) But among the pile of rubbish are some diamonds in the rough. Of course, you have your box office blockbusters such as Pirates of the Caribbean and The Chronicles of Narnia, but there are those rare gems that are unbelievably good. One such product is The Rocketeer, which I believe is still the last great Disney live-action film. And then, of course, there's Flight of the Navigator - a film that came and went at the box office at warp speed, collecting a mere $18 million. Watching this movie is like going back in time. Sure, it reeks of '80s cheesiness and the acting leaves much to be desired. But what makes this movie shine is its innovation in special effects. Universal's 1984 film The Last Starfighter may have been the first to use full-time CG animation, but Navigator was the first to feature environment mapping - over a decade before it was standard on video games. Five years before Terminator 2: Judgment Day came out, Navigator first gave viewers a look at what a moving chrome-colored object would look like on film. Even after 20 years, the flying piece of chrome still looks great. The aerial shots are also breathtaking. Max: "What are you doing?" David: "Can't I have a little privacy?" Max: "Do not know privacy." It's hard to believe that Alan Silvestri (Predator, Back to the Future) composed the score for Navigator, as it's primarily synthesizer music instead of orchestral. And because of this, it does make the film seem outdated. "Navigator, I do not leak. You leak. Remember?" Paul Reubens steals much of the film as the voice of the klutzy pilot Max. He starts out serious at first, but as soon as he scans David's brain, that's when his Pee Wee Herman persona kicks in. Other than that, a young Sarah Jessica Parker also has a bit role in the film. Not that anyone around here cares for her... "Hey, blimpo! Oink Oink! Too many Twinkies!" Overall, Flight of the Navigator is surprisingly enjoyable for a family film. Definitely a great rental at most, as the DVD has no extras at all (unless you really, really like this movie). Rating: B DVD Extras: F What extras?
