  1. Syfy's KRYPTON. Premieres on March 21, 2018. Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Based on DC characters, Krypton is executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy). Cameron Welsh (Ash vs Evil Dead) will serve as executive producer and showrunner. CAMERON CUFFE / Seg-El The Man of Steel’s grandfather, Seg brings hope and equality to the planet of Krypton, turning a world in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest superhero ever known. Revealing a chapter of the DC Universe that has rarely been explored, KRYPTON, is set 200 years before the Superman legend we know. SHAUN SIPOS / Adam Strange A world-weary, time-travelling human, Adam Strange finds himself stranded on Krypton as the unlikely mentor to Seg-El. Adam will stop at nothing to ensure that the greatest hero who ever lived actually exists. http://www.syfy.com/krypto
  2. There's a local modeling competition in less than 3 weeks. Suddenly felt the need to enter into the scifi portion of the competition. Last year a friend of mine entered with a very basic HG gunpla kit he did in candy colors. I think I can top that! My idea is to use this wave 1/100 VF-1A I got from a convention a couple years ago and turn it into some kind of a low-viz scheme with some kind of a Macross First twist like Hikaru's VF-1J, not so crazy though. But I also thought I saw someone did a custom job on their take of the brownie but I can't find it anywhere. I'd like too if possible try to even replicate that. I may even go as far as to customize my own decals since I'm a bit of a graphic designer and we got excellent printers so long as I'm not doing white. Any suggestions you guys got to help make this kit stand out would be appreciative as I'd like to take home my first trophy. Couple things I'm curious over are seamline removal since there's 4 locations I'd like to fix in the nosecone and fuselage and than the underbelly at the knees up to the thighs. Also how to properly paint the canopy if there are good easy to follow tutorials. Some of the ones I found on youtube seem to have some really bad dislikes for some reason.
  3. Anyone else seen the pilot for this one. Watched it last night and will keep watching, if I don't forget or have laundry to do... Not terrible but not great. Supposedly a follow up to the movie "Legion", but I have never seen that movie so can't compare - though I plan to put it on my Netflix queue. Basically God goes away and the Angels start a war on Earth, the show picks up 25 (?) years later.
  4. So while Macross Frontier will probably never be broadcast on US TV on Sy Fy channel they started up season 1.5 for Heroes of Cosplay. I included a link and it has Yaya Han dressed as Sherly Nome in her Kimono outfit at 9 sec and 16 sec in this promo for episode 7. Not sure if you'll need a VPN to view it and SyFy may put up the full episode in a day or two. Keep in mind the show isn't the greatest but it puts exposure into Cosplay and Macross Frontier in a minor way at least. Link http://www.syfy.com/videos/Heroes%20of%20Cosplay/Promos/vid:2782200 Here's the link to pics of the costume she wore on her site as the video is real fast http://www.yayahan.com/portfolio/costumes/sheryl-nome-oiran-garb-macross-frontier
  5. So I recently made a thread for Arrow on CW, but I just gotta make another. I believe we're in the golden age of TV, we're finally at the point when we are getting truly quality performances and stories on both basic and premium cable, there's literally something for everybody. So how about Hannibal? This is yet another series that's been blowing my mind for two seasons now, easily the most graphic and disturbing show on television, I find every episode to be pretty excellent. There are some really incredible performances throughout, Mads Mikkelsen is pretty much my favorite Hannibal since Anthony Hopkins horrified people in Silence of the Lambs, as a long time fan and reader of the Red Dragon novels I've got even more to love. Another fantastic episode tonight, the situation Graham has found himself in is hard to watch but you know there's more there than we're seeing, Hugh Dancy also absolutely dominating his role as the tormented Will Graham. My DVR is full, I've got something recorded almost every night, but I always find myself looking forward to Friday night Hannibal.
  6. Helix on IMDb. Didn't find using Search. The premier is this Friday, the 10th at 10 pm EST. Here's a 15 minute preview; http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=CviEeDRBr6w Looks interesting enough, is anyone else going to watch? -b.
  7. They actually have a whole slew of SciFi titles in development... A bunch of series, many with spaceships (and most of them at least sound interesting to me) http://www.blastr.com/2013-4-10/syfy-developing-7-new-series-aliens-magic-angels-and-more And two Miniseries I am looking forward to seeing as well. http://www.blastr.com/2013-4-10/syfy-announces-childhoods-end-and-ringworld-miniseries Of course, being SyFy, I am prepared for disappointment...
  8. Syfy Channel originals, they are low budget classics that are primarily creature features that have been going on since 2002 with over 200 some film titles having the honor of being classified as such. With that said I figured we need a thread and I'll start by posting every original I've seen to date: What are your thoughts on this classic legacy?
  9. The original thread may be locked, but there will never be an end to the debate. Whether it's Battlefield Earth, Highlander II, G-Saviour or anything directed by Uwe Boll or produced by The Asylum, we'll always have our arguments over which is the worst science fiction movie of all time. To start things off, let's play a little game called Bad Movie Night, which was inspired by my own experience. Over a decade ago, my old roommate kept on telling me that Wild Wild West was the worst movie ever made. I hadn't seen the movie, but as bad as the reviews were, I disagreed with him. So we did a bad movie challenge. He had me watch Wild Wild West, while I made him watch a bad movie of my choice. I made him watch Disney's Inspector Gadget. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhC2bqVxoA4 A week later, he demanded a rematch. He had me watch I Got the Hook Up. So it was a typical rap movie, but not as bad as he said it was. And it made me feel bad because I made him watch Steel. Round 3 came, and he challenged me to watch Cyborg. At this point, I wasn't sure if he was trying at all or his movie pain threshold was just really low. Needless to say, my challenge to him for round 3 was the 1990 Captain America movie. We did one final round because he wanted me to watch The Wizard. You know, that theatrical Nintendo commercial with the Power Glove and Super Mario Bros. 3. I ended the round with Robotech II: The Sentinels. So with this in mind, if you were to challenge a friend to Bad Movie Night, what three movies would you make them watch that would guarantee you a win (provided they haven't seen them yet)? And what would you wager (whether it's a buck or a drink)?
  10. This was previously reported in the Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time thread, but it has a cat fight so epic, it deserves its own thread. With no further ado, I present to you... Mega Python vs. Gatoroid - Premiering January 29 at 8:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. Central) on Syfy. Check local listings. Can't wait for that date? If you live in Austin, TX, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will host the world premiere on Saturday, January 15, at 9:15 p.m. Let's get it on!
  11. trailer - MGM has provided us with three "SGU: Stargate Universe" posters and the new trailer for the SyFy show premiering on October 2nd. "SGU" follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth. Faced with meeting the most basic needs of food, water and air, the group must unlock the secrets of the ship's Stargate to survive. The danger, adventure and hope they find on board the Destiny will reveal the heroes and villains among them. looks cool i think, more serious tone.
  12. Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus The Asylum, 2009 Directed by Ace Hannah (a.k.a. Jack Perez, who directed Wild Things 2) Running Time: 90 minutes Rated R for violence, mature situations, profanity and suggestive drug use on the part of The Asylum. Cast Deborah Gibson as Dr. Emma MacNeil Vic Chao as Prof. Seiji Shimada Sean Lawlor as Prof. Lamar Sanders Lorenzo Lamas as Allan Baxter Synopsis When oceanographer Emma MacNeil "borrows" a submarine to study whale migration off the coast of Alaska, a low-frequency sonar device is suddenly dropped by a military helicopter, causing the whales to go berserk and ram a nearby glacier. This incident unearths and awakens a Megalodon (a giant prehistoric shark) and a Giant Octopus from their 10-million-year suspended animation. All hell breaks loose, now that they're awake - whales are found mutilated everywhere, an oil rig in Japan is destroyed by the octopus in seconds and the shark defies physics by eating a 747 from 30,000 feet in the sky. After a failed attempt to corral both sea creatures in Tokyo Bay and San Francisco - resulting in the shark taking a bite out of the Golden Gate Bridge, Emma, along with her mentor Lamar Sanders and Japanese scientist Seiji Shimada, proposes to have the shark and octopus stage their "Thrilla in Manila" and kill each other off before they create any further damage. Lowdown I know what you're thinking: What the hell am I doing reviewing a crappy B-movie? It's not like I've never done that before; after all, I did sit through the sci-fi abomination that is Resiklo. So what could possibly be worse than that? Well, the first indication to this film is that it's produced by The Asylum - the same people who brought us low-budget "mockbusters" like Transmorphers, AVH: Alien vs. Hunter, Snakes on a Train and The Terminators. Not a good start at all, right? Then comes the second indication: the cast. We all know that former soap opera star Lorenzo Lamas is pretty much washed out, but former teen idol Deborah Gibson in the lead role? She must be desperate, as her Playboy stint years ago was a disaster, and I've read that she recently sold her house. In typical B-movie fashion, the acting is atrocious, the storyline is riddled with plot loopholes you can jump your car through, and the CG effects are downright cheesy. So why, then, is Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus not reviewed as a bad movie? Well, it's simple: it's a movie so bad, it's actually good. The scene where the shark eats a 747 alone saves the whole movie. This film makes a perfect party piece if you're in the mood to laugh at something - whether or not you're smoking a joint on the side. In a nutshell, Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus is a bad movie that you'd actually want to show your friends. As long as there's enough booze in the house. Rating: B+ (if you're stoned); D+ (for everyone else) Links Official Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus Homepage References The Internet Movie Database
