  1. "The movies, nowadays. That's the trouble. Sequels and remakes, bunch of crap." - Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) Without a doubt, Transformers: Age of Extinction is one of the worst sci-fi films ever produced. Unfortunately, its total earnings of US$1.1 billion means we're getting more Transformers films. However, there will be numerous changes (not including less humans, sadly): - Michael Bay originally stated he will not return as director, but Paramount threw enough money for him to stay. - Mark Wahlberg will be reprising his role as the bumbling "inventor" Cade Yeager. No word if Cade's hoochie daughter Tessa (Nicola Peltz) or her Irish boyfriend Shane (Jack Reynor) are returning. I hope not. - Akiva Goldsman (Batman & Robin, Lost in Space), who was once attached to the live-action Robotech project, is in talks to write the screenplay. - Hasbro is looking at a 2017 release date. Mark Wahlberg Just Found a Transformers Sequel More Transformers Movies: Akiva Goldsman to Ramp Up Spinoffs and Sequels Hasbro Expects 2017 Transformers Release Date
  2. The original thread may be locked, but there will never be an end to the debate. Whether it's Battlefield Earth, Highlander II, G-Saviour or anything directed by Uwe Boll or produced by The Asylum, we'll always have our arguments over which is the worst science fiction movie of all time. To start things off, let's play a little game called Bad Movie Night, which was inspired by my own experience. Over a decade ago, my old roommate kept on telling me that Wild Wild West was the worst movie ever made. I hadn't seen the movie, but as bad as the reviews were, I disagreed with him. So we did a bad movie challenge. He had me watch Wild Wild West, while I made him watch a bad movie of my choice. I made him watch Disney's Inspector Gadget. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhC2bqVxoA4 A week later, he demanded a rematch. He had me watch I Got the Hook Up. So it was a typical rap movie, but not as bad as he said it was. And it made me feel bad because I made him watch Steel. Round 3 came, and he challenged me to watch Cyborg. At this point, I wasn't sure if he was trying at all or his movie pain threshold was just really low. Needless to say, my challenge to him for round 3 was the 1990 Captain America movie. We did one final round because he wanted me to watch The Wizard. You know, that theatrical Nintendo commercial with the Power Glove and Super Mario Bros. 3. I ended the round with Robotech II: The Sentinels. So with this in mind, if you were to challenge a friend to Bad Movie Night, what three movies would you make them watch that would guarantee you a win (provided they haven't seen them yet)? And what would you wager (whether it's a buck or a drink)?
  3. Early this year, it was announced that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures signed an agreement to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Both companies will produce yet another Spider-Man reboot, which is slated for release on July 28, 2017. Here are the details so far: - According to Marvel president Kevin Feige, this reboot will not have an origin story, but would take inspiration from Batman Begins. Compared to the previous films, Spidey will retain his humorous side. - Jon Watts (Clown, Cop Car) has signed on as the director. - British actor Tom Holland (Billy Elliot the Musical) is the new Peter Parker. - Oscar-winning actress Marisa Tomei (Mona Lisa Vito in My Cousin Vinny, Cassidy in The Wrestler) is the new Aunt May. 4. There's enough interest from some in this site on the ongoing Monogatari series for it to have it's own thread and thereby keep it from monopolizing other threads. Let's keep it all here, TV series, films, novels and those fine looking 1/8 Senjougahara PVC figures too.
