  1. Well, clearly anything is speculation, but I suppose it is possible that the Protoculture, being in such awe of the Vajra, tried to keep the Interstellar Republic away from Vajra territory. So maybe the Vajra were completely unaware of the events that were transpiring.
  2. I'm still waiting for the subs (damnable non-fluency in Japanese!), but I am intrigued by the idea that the Protoculture tried to emulate the Vajra. It would explain partially why the Bird Human looked the way that it did (as well as some members of the Evil series of Zentradi). If all this is true, then I would be thoroughly satisfied with how well SK managed to tie many different elements together. I was never fond of the idea that the Protoculture was the only game in town, and that no other sentient life existed.
  3. Well, it was meant to be an attempt by Kawamori to remake the novel 1984 into a Macross story, much as he attempted with Moby Dick and Dynamite 7. That's why it would be called DoublePlus. But yes, I am inclined to agree that at this point, the future does lie in a continuation of Frontier. However, we should all be careful not to get our hopes up too much, because as we know, the follow up stories aren't always what we want them to be. Flashback 2012 was a music video with only a few minutes of new footage. Dynamite 7 was...well, it was what it was. As such, I remain cautiously optimistic.
  4. That's far too reasonable a thing for a crazy old obsessed Zentradi fanboy to realize! But yes, I would agree with you on that point. However, considering that fold faults would not be problematic, and communication could be near instantaneous, it would be far easier to find her.
  5. With regards to Dicky B., I'd have to guess that since he seemed to be such a huge Minmey fan, he was hoping that when the entire galaxy was connected, he'd be able to "meet" her again. Of course, this was all assuming she was still alive.
  6. Hey, Basara got to release an album from that experience: "Basara & The Space Whales Rock Your Socks Off" featuring such hits as "Angel Voice", "Kujira! Kujira! Kujira!", and the much lauded "We're Just Space Whales, But We Can Harmonize Really Well." Needless to say, it was not his best selling album. Besides, there's nothing better than taking classic novel and putting them into a far futuristic setting. Coming soon: Macross DoublePlus In the year 2084, the New U.N. Spacey government has control over the entire Earth populace. Wishing to eradicate free thought and emotion, they have eliminated music from culture. Watched over by the enigmatic "Nii San," the people of earth are powerless to stand in the way of this oppressive government. However, when a citizen comes across an album by the long forgotten band Fire Bomber, he will attempt to reignite the culture that made Earth the great planet that it once was. Brilliant!
  7. So in all likelihood, there are no Protodeviln left. That's probably how SK would keep it, since he doesn't like to retread old territory...
  8. My apologies for the length of this post. Reading through all 11 pages got my head going. Kawamori has managed to create an incredibly rich history through relatively few series. I like to consider the following when thinking about what I want from a new Macross series: 1.) The original series made it clear that there were still many Zentradi and Supervision Army fleets across the galaxy, duking it out. It’s been that way for thousands of years. I doubt fifty years have changed that too much. 2.) The Supervision Army, were Zentradi and Protoculture drained of their Spiritia, much like the Varauta army. M7 made it clear that Anima Spiritia could be used against spiritia drained beings, much like culture shock to the Zentradi. It stands to reason this could be used against the Supervision Army as well. 3.) Macross Plus (and the video games, and Macross F) showed that, even many years after Space War 1, not all Zentradi are willing to coexist peacefully with humanity. Also, the new design of the power armor in Plus indicates that the Zentradi, who previously had no experience fixing their equipment or building anything new, may have gained some of that knowledge. 4.) Dynamite 7 showed that capitalism is alive and well, and that UN Spacey technology can be bought through the black market. Who has managed to gain this technology? 5.) The Protoculture seeded the earth, and maybe even the planet Zola. What other planets did they attempt to manipulate to continue their existence? 6.) Macross Plus seemed to indicate that there are non-colonization fleets in existence, with the job of seeking out these renegade Zentradi. 7.) Frontier has shown that NUNS is not unlike the Roman Empire toward the end of their days. It is large, with a very capable military, but it very spread out, lacking the ability to communicate effectively and move forces around in a timely fashion. 8.) And finally, are there any other Protodeviln out there? I think it would be interesting to see Kawamori sew some of these threads together, perhaps focusing on a deep space fleet given the task of expanding the NUNS controlled territory. Or something along those lines…
