Actually... The base is a synthetic hardwood floor panel. The Home Depot and other renovation stores practically give these things out as samples (for color/pattern matching. Its a small panel at least 6 inches long, and serves as a very steady base, even if the model's center of gravity is off center. The triangular piece that grips down from the top is taken from the same panel. It has a circular slot cut into it to wrap around the surface of the ball joint. The ball joint was taken from a cheap foot massage roller (like the one here http://www.blackpearlbotanicals.com/produc...massagers2.jpg). I cut out a socket for the joint in the base as well as the top triangular piece, and screwed it together. Works pretty much exactly the same way as a flexidisplay, except with just 1 screw.

I meant to upload these in early december when they were taken. I had some spare time and I was still waiting for the flexidisplay V2s to release and get shipped to me XD. I went and made my own with spare materials around the house. The one good thing about them though is that the arm lengths are easily adjustable... Cause they're really just the chopsticks you get from takeout. Lol

Hopefully Bandai's MacF VB-6 will be better than Yamato's attempt. Needs more gerwalk posability, fewer giant gaps, better detailed arms, and some badass lineart-accurate armor! Although at this rate, we're all going to have to build it from a model kit if they try to DXify the Koenig. lol.

Couldn't find it either... But honestly Nanase served 2 roles... 1 to jumpstart Ranka's confidence, while ironically being an adversary (the anime uses Nanase's bust to intimidate Ranka more than once) at the same time. And second, to unconvincingly push Luca into seek vengeance against the Vajra. Anyways, this topic is getting seriously derailed. Ranka figure looks like it was done well, but I think Klan's figure was better I wouldn't get this figure, but I wouldnt mind getting a VB-6 with Ranka tampoed on the side.

nanase was really uninteresting imo. Not sure if anyone else felt the same.

VFTF brings you: Justifications for pedophilia 101.

Guess they wanna save their canon schemes for another pack XD But I guess this also answers our question about whether or not Yamato is allowed to release VFs in non-canon schemes.

that vf-1s has one of the worst paint jobs ever.

Macross variable fighter/mecha pose thread

Lol VFTF... That's one perverted mecha. Kinda looks like he's trying to peer up her skirt. -
May get a few, but the base + stand is $30... Getting 2 Flexidisplays is around that price. Regardless, one or two wouldn't hurt, but they're not going to replace the Flexis at that price.

yea, a SV-51 might just topple that thing. Looks a little flimsy. The other thing is that I'm pretty sure that even a 1/60 yammie, if balanced, will be too large to position on a lower tier, because it'll obstruct the columns around it. However, if its cheap enough, I'd want to put a 1/60 version of each plane on the mounting arm and its respective GNU battroid underneath. Also, they really shoulda sold something like this with their GNUs... having a figure without a stand to pose it on is kinda dumb. I didn't mind them cutting out super packs as much as that.

yea the enamels are still liquid. Some have separated into the oil layer. So the order I would be doing things is like this? 1. cut & sand prepare the parts. - I understand this easily enough... 2. prime the surface - Prime the surface? With some sort of Primer coat? I've never primed models in my life. I've primed my back deck, but I think thats kinda different. 3. spray on your base color - Is it okay if I just brush it on? Will the brush leave streak lines that will be noticable? Enamel paint? What specific parts/sections do you guys suggest painting, rather than relying on the natural plastic color? I'm working with the VF-25F. 4. spray a layer of gloss. - What kind of gloss paint should I be looking for? 5. Do your decals and wash lines - Decals first, then panel lines? 6. spray a layer of flat to cover up the glosiness. thanks ghost

Anime has more often than not had kids under 15 pilot war machinery. Categorizing all underaged females under loli would be just make the selection far too broad. I don't think Minmei or Mylene were considered anywhere near loli, even in that time, and public acceptance of prominent loli characters didn't surface in anime till much later. I think there would have been severe social backlash about it then. Ranka obviously aims at the lolicon crowd, but at least the creators were reasonable enough to diversify the female populace in Frontier. Unfortunately, they made all the male characters feminine while they were at it. >_> About the toy though... Considering that many of the members here are married and even have young children... How the hell are you going to slip this into your collection? Keep it in a closed cabinet? Socially awkward.
-
..... Minmay was not flat. At least.. Thats not how I remember her. I don't even think drawing lolis was popular then. Mylene wasn't loli either. Mao was loli for sure... But she wasn't the main war-altering singer, that was Sara.

Lolis are a tradition in Macross? Since when.

I think they fixed that by now. They should be shipping with correct screws.

Why was Plus so much deeper than all the other Macrosses >_> Maybe it was cause it was OAV? But Zero was terrible! >_> -
I just recently started up construction of my VF-25F as well. I haven't touched a model kit since I was 12, so I am pretty lost when it comes to stuff like this. So far, I've slowly panel lined all the parts still on the sprue and rubbed off the excess. I'm guessing my next step is to exacto knife the parts off the sprues and runners and smooth them off with some sandpaper. I would like to apply a matte coating to reduce the glossy look of the plastic, so do I apply this first? then the decals? then a sealing coat? Considering I didn't apply the decals yet, do I have to redo the panel lines once the decals are applied? What kind of coating solution should be I using? I also have some left over paint from when I was a kid, although they are enamel and I think the paint has separated. Is this no longer going to be useful or would I still be able to stir it up and apply small portions of it (I only intend to paint the upper intakes after masking it) with a brush (not really worth it for me to go get airbrush equipment).

That pic is so bad ass though. Brings tears to my eyes. -
I'm in the same boat. Started with a GNU and a Revoltech... Then Yammy VF-0 and YF-19. Now I'm working on a 1/72 VF-25F, and considering getting another. Also thinking about a SV-51. If I start a post about the SV-51 though... I already know the negative influence I'm going to get XD.

I got the model kit. Unfortunately, I dont have any time to put it together for the next month or so. Awesome huh? " I really do still wish that it'd be in the same scale as the Yamatos -
Ranka - Funny cute Klan Klan - Just funny Macro Klan - Uh... Not funny. Not really cute. Just overdone. Sheryl - Pretty Grace - Hot, better mannered Sheryl, complete with tentacles. It's not even fair! Ram - Hot
-
Grace was one of the sexiest women in Frontier. Too bad they had to turn her into a neurotic psychopathic bitch . Killed it for me.
-
Yeh, I know. I was making references to intense debates over VF toy/model accuracies =P

But but... SK didn't provide detailed and accurate lineart for that area! It can't be canon! XD
