  1. thanks guys. to both Sithlord and VF-1Guy, what size stands are those? My Elint is still sitting it's in box, I think to do this Valk justice a stand is a must. Now i just have to decide what size stand i need...

Well the one used in that pic is an "original" 4 inch rods you can use interchangable rods from other stands but I think this stand does it justice.

  2. I need more money before I can order some... I want two sets I think... maybe three.

Hey s_i_t_h.... Your stand there has two different size rods... Did you buy some 6" and some 4"?

exactly... all the rods were interchanged from other sized stands to get that pose.

  3. No offense intended, but... Those things look like crap on the Bulky Lee!

I'm glad I passed. I hope the TV version is a different color (like black or deep gray).

will these pics help to change your mind :D

  4. The rods are interchangable and the "DLL" weight capacity is at 2lbs but I've tested it with a SOC Dancougar (4lbs at least) and it held up fine and very stable. The major concern would be not to overtighten the adjustable screws which will create small cracks on the base other than that there pretty tuff. You can check it out here and more available pics will be posted tonight.

  5. I do purchase once in a while my collection of Dougram, Orguss & SOC but not motivated enough to buy 'em all. I only buy stuff non-Macross related if I think it looks cool like for i.e. the 20th anniversary Optimus Prime, I'd buy it in heartbeat. As a kid I like fast planes & robots what a way to combine the two with Macross. In your quest to see pics in due time... patience is a virtue for a sith and we will reveal ourselves to the jedi at the proper moment... in other words probably tonight cuz I got to square away my 'bidness'

  6. Before Macross, I use to collect every Mcfarlane toy out there in doubles and when compared to my Macross collection my mcfarlane collection beat it out since they had at least two toy series coming out every month. As soon as I heard that Toycom was releasing their Mac plus valks I was like a kid all over again so I started selling off all of my Spawn toys to supplement my Macross addiction. I started collecting from the Toycom announcement and I do have 2 of the first versions of the 19 and 2 of the second version which I bought from Kevin. Since then I collected 4 of every new release.

  7. Hi VF-1Guy,

well, I'm definitively not going to do it. But Excel will... :D

    Typical deviation

    1:48 1:60 1:72 sum

    19,41 7,77 15,54 4,59

    Variance

    1:48 1:60 1:72 sum

    376,60 60,44 241,50 21,03

I'm not sure about the correct results (I'm not going to check it...), but of course the graphics are distorsioned by s_i_t_h_l_o_r_d... Oh, how much I hate this guy... :(

    See?

 ...hate only leads you to the dark side

  8. Absolute maximum: s_i_t_h_l_o_r_d.

    He's got: 16 1/48's  , 42 (did you hear? Fourty two!!!) 1/60's and 31 (OMG!!!!) 1/72.

No one beats this guy. I still hate Graham (privilege of information and an absolute awsome collection -which I hardly envy), but S, do you have family? I HATE you so much!!!

s_i_t_h_l_o_r_d, you need to find a girl and spend more time out of your home and away from valks.

damn i am so jealous :(

Not being married has its plusses... and I got enough cashflow for the girl as well and "no" not the kind you pick up in the corner

  9. Very cool, please post pictures as you progress. Man this thing will be huge, can't wait till you start!

    Good Luck!! :D:D

yeah I think around 4 feet deep 6 feet wide and 3 1/2 feet tall... just a guestimate. Will create the facade in some styrene material but will create the framework in some hardwood. I will have to design it in my Lightwave program before I can do some damage pretty much like d-stance's (1/72 variable yf-21) method of sculpting it in a 3D program before he sets out to sculpt.

  10. Hey Monty any chance of you putting spot lights on your diorama. Man I've been wanting to do a 1/48 diorama for the longest. I've got all the accessories and support vehicles to pull off what Yamato did and probably even better here's a couple of pics of what will hopefully become tangible and not limited to the figment of my imagination.

If you want a good source of spotlights (actual lights that can be used in a diorama), try an automotive parts store. Some of them have these weird dash lights, that are basically small canisters (about a 1/4" in diameter) with a LED inside, that hooks up to your cigarette lighter. I've got a set (they come in different color LED's - blue and white at least), and I just need to make the platform that I want to mount them to, to put a mech on (basically, have them on the ground, and pointing up, illuminating the mech). Great plans sith - can't wait to see it built (and feel free to ask if you need any help with the mechanical moving bits - being a mechanical designer, it's what I do! ).

Thanks Fulcy I'll keep you posted as soon as I finish the final sketch and then it will be off to my Lightwave program. I will post final sketches soon.

  11. you betcha... in fact I've asked around alot of modeling sites I think one was called dioramabuilders.com and asked what would be best for this setup and they said any ink jet printer motor including the belt would do the trick. I've got an old epson waiting to be dismantled. I still need to work on the crane in fact here's a better view of the sketch. Plus still debating whether the platform from which the valk will be standing will be mobile and become the elevator pad. The sketch is still in its conceptual stage.

  13. Graham, Shawn, good evening. If you don't mind me asking, is this some kind of feedback to Yamato, to see in average what is the calculated amount of valks MW members own? Is this "research" done to get some kind of projection, or to predict the next move on the Macross market? At least I guess outside Japan, and limited to the MW membership. Just wondering...

    vic.

I am curious about that too.

me 3... how about an update on the tally... anyone willing to go thru 13 pages... As I see it 10,000 valks would be an eye opener from these MWers alone.
