  1. The yf-19 is probably is the most prized trophy out of the series and definitely worth getting like version 1, 1.5 or 2.

Version two is the fix and many more changes; version 1.5 has the fix but still has die-cast pivotting shoulders; version 1 has what 1.5 regarding die-cast shoulders but the ever fragile tab b was the reason for all the changes.

Also pick up the vf-19a its the 3rd evolution of the yf-19, the knees sculpt is a whole lot cleaner than before.

Of course the evolution continues with the fast packs and is gonna look good since Yamato has invested so much in perfecting the toy.

  2. Why would this mecha need armor when the sentinnels don't have guns just a welding lazer and tentacles that pierce or whip around and a bomb drone that could destroy anything even with armor. I agree with Pat S those guns would suffice and its slow and cumbersome design is only good on long range targets if close encounters where an issue ground support soldiers equipped with that EMP gun used in the first Matrix by Cypher to fry Tank and Dozer.

  3. If the director is sucha big fan of both monstrosities he could have adapted the book, game or comic book versions instead of pyramids. What is this Stargate all over again?! How about a tripple crossover the Guaold/aliens/predators, that would be an ultimate war.

In the featurette how did the aliens get here on earth? Does that explain the mysterios ancient civilization disappearance in antartica because of alien infestation?

There's a great chance an alien or in this case a whole civilization of aliens is gonna survive a small nuke blast just ask "Dutch" or Arnie.

Where is the space marines in all this mayhem and why bring in scientist into the story? How much more do we need to know about these creatures?

I'm beginning to be a skeptic about this crossover. I think the director didn't do his homework and pure ego has alot to do with the AVP universe being dumped in the trashbin and the big shots at 20th century just want 100% of the profits and not split it with the likes of Darkhorse.

What a big dissapointment and I aint seen the movie yet!

  4. sorry to hear that, I always put my 1/48 near the middle shelves so if they do tumble, it doesn't have long to travel. What you should do is put up a thread for anyone that has broken their valks and do a trade with the other unfortunate owners.

  5. There's a possibility they will release it again. Since it has a Mac Zero pilot and the series isn't over yet they could release it under a Mac Zero label. The box graphics would be different and a slight color difference might be used to sell it if they re-released it.

its HG hyping up an animation mistake. supposedly Tommy Yune takes credit for naming it.

yes... HG is an animation mistake!

  6. Yup, I'm gonna have to agree with Monty. If Yamato released this 2 months after the 1js then I would consider buying it. Just to many things to buy at one time and it can strain the Macross defense budget!

  7. Well the first time is when my dad came home one day and he had a really detailed 4x4 truck. It was really fun assembling it and I was probably 6 or 7 at the time and I had thought we were building a toy and what an awesome toy it was. Working steering wheel and everyting opened and even the seats folded. It was truly an awesome kit that didn't last a month of wheeling it around the house.

Well it was back to legos for me until my skills emerged around 11 when I bought my first kit and it was an ambitious kit. A weekly allowance that accumulated to about $30 bought an aircraft carrier CVN-65 "Enterprise" which had been the first of many trials. I don't recall the scale but it was big. Working elevators, service vehicles and 80 aircraft to paint. Disappointingly enough the aircraft were only Corsairs, Phantoms, Hawkeyes & Skyhawks and no Tomcats which was my favorite aircraft. Anyways, don't advise ya to buy such a massive kit to start off but I had completed and painted it but wasn't anyting like the picture on the box as far as paint finish is concerned.

Now its been way too long since I built a kit and I want to get back into it. I have a couple of Dougram kits and I always wanted to build the "Bromry LTR63" that I've held on for so long.

  8. I wonder if anyone tried using Hasegawa's fastpacks on the HCM. It would almost be blasphemous IMO to combine a kit as finely detailed as Hasegawa to a pretty dated but yet fairly detailed HCM toy.

  9. Hey Graham

    First off Happy be-lated B-Day.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but is Yamato gonna fix the problem with the armor on the arms especially tthe holes that the pegs go into when positioned in fighter mode. They simply flop and it's annoying that this is the only flaw to an almost perfect valk.

  10. But all that aside, I've never understood all the love Aliens gets.  B))

It's all about the gadgets (guns & vehicles), all those classic one-liners and of course Hudson :D

    Graham

Don't you mean Vasquez! :D (the space marine pull-up latin chick, for those who don't know)

I was watching the first alien movie over the weekend and I was really laughing at some of the special effects and it just shows how far we've progressed in the genre. Their AI computer displayed graphics as if it was back in the dawn of personal computers, DOS-like interface. But overall, I can't dis this classic because of one out-dated flaw.

    VE-1

Say "no" to mechs with hats

I never understood the love for that POS. Its ugly.

VE-1 reminds me of Raiden in Mortal Kombat! One of my least favorite valks next to the VA-3 Invader. Elintseeker's Battroid mode serves no purpose in space.
