[attachmentid=41647] [attachmentid=41648] [attachmentid=41649]
I reluctantly bought the Urban Camo GBP armor while I was in Japan, because I didn't think it looked nearly as good as the customized model it was based on. I figured I'd pick it up because I was there and would ant to regret it later. Well, it turns out I'm pretty pleased afterall. I did a very subtle detailing/weathering job that anyone can do, regardless of skill.
I just used a gray gundam marker, panel lined it, and smudged it here and there. Then i used a brush with hardly any iridescent paint on it to hi-light some corners.

I have a mint, loose set for sale, 75.00 shipped

wow, now that's a good custom paint job, very professional
I acutally like the dark red on it, very original, good job!! I wouldn't sell it on ebay until (God forbids) you hit really tough times, or until the GBP armor is discontinuyed and you could sell it for a higher price
oops, just listed it on ebay. I think i need to save money for the SV-51 and of they ever make a yf-21.
I still have one more set of urban camo armor to customize

Nice repaint. I think the chest plates should have been some shade of grey. Otherwise, great paint job.
The paint is a semi-gloss black from krylon. The chest plate and forearms is a brown red from the woodland camo. I never painted them, but maybe another shade of grey would be nice. hmm.
the urban camo one is actually nice if it could all be darker greys. i think that's my next project.

Ugh, I won't be buying that. I really don't like the green on it. 3 shades of grey would have looked a lot better IMO.
yeah, i don't dig the green either. I'm going to paint the green parts a green grey or another shade of grey.

I'm in Tokyo, and the new armor set is out!
I'll be back in Canada in 2 days, so I've already bought myself one, along with some other macross goodies. If they weren't so big I'd buy a whole bunch more.

I have:
2 x VF-1J 1/48
2 x VF-1S 1/48
GBP armor
Strike Parts set
2 x VF-0A (stress marks on one elbow)
2 x VF-0S
2 x YF -19
and I sold my 9 1/60 VF-1 valks (which only had some diecast paint wear)
and no breaks yet. If something felt too stressed, I would see if there were screws to loosen and vice versa. I know some people will always be unlucky enough to recieve the occassional quality control problem from the factory, but on the whole we should remember that Yamatos are expensive because of the complex design (nothing transforms like them, trying to be true to anime line art which depicts sleek fighters and tough battroids). Yamatos fall somewhere between Takara transforming toys and perfect grade gundam models, and that is absolutely fine by me.
Yamatos will always be somewhat delicate. I mean could you imagine if you took your masterpiece Convoy and smashed him into your YF-19 with full force. I have no doubt which one would come up unscathed.

I need a pair, but the guy who makes and sells them doesn't respond to me (3 attempts over the last few months). Maybe because I live in Canada, I don't know. I have a 100% ebay feedback rating of 750, username "briareos".
Anyways, anyone got an extra set of these? I can paypal you

If you think crooked skulls on tailfins are bad, wait until the panel lines aren't between the panels but on the panels due to some misalignment.

I love the Yamato valkyries, but they're hit and miss.
Vote: no way
I panel line my own, and I have learned some things over time. Definitely, lighter/ more subtle lines are always better, and I really feel the 1/48 VF-1's don't really need much at all, because the lines were made rather deep, that the shadow within them is almost good enough.
and the production cost of a panel-lined valk would be way more than it's worth. And really, panel lining doesn't take that much skill. If you're scared, use the mechanical pencil like some people have done.

I don't know why people don't seem to use hlj.com like I often do. It's fairly cheap, and the shipping is quite reasonable, especially when you buy a few items at a time. You have the option of sending items that are available at one time, or to wait and ship them along with any preordered items. I've had my YF-19's since last year.
now we just need an SV-51, and a YF-21... and oh yes, a regult... and then maybe a big monster too

what's with the massive squishy distortion going on in those pics? That 1/48 almost looks like an SD!
only the pofile pic seems to be squishy on my computer, and sorry forum people, i meant to put this in the display your valks thread

I found this pic of the first one, and it made me buy one myself. I have yet to assemble it, but hope to do it soon. I dig them, and i have a feeling they'll be close to a 1/100 scale. I plan to build a vf-22S 1/100 scale to go with this one.
It's funny. I've sold off a lot of my toys, and I'm pretty much down to a few 1/48s, the mac plus and zero 1/60s, but i still really like the wave vf-17s, non-scale vf-0s and vf-22s

You know, the true measure of our addictions is what percentage of our monthly income is spent on Yammies. If i was a millionaire, I'd definitely have more... as well as a 911 turbo.

Just over $2000, and I now only collect macross stuff, so some of you guys are definitely making me feel better about myself and my addiction.
So all I need now is 2 x YF-21s, 2 x SV-51s, and some battlepods, then I'll quit...

Someone probably said this already but here's my guess:
flap flap flap can either refer to ostrich or sv-51. Defintiely not a monster, TV VF-1s or a yf-21. And...
in one post G rules out the possibility of 2 seaters from Yamato. And...
in one post he refers to one of 8 aforementioned comments as being prophetic. One of whom suggested a plan of alternating between macross 0 and macross plus properties.
Just simple speculation, nothing more

OK
I was bored, so I decided I just couldn't wait for pics of the colored YF-19 to be released, so I quickly COREL'ed the picture that David Hingtgen posted.
Here's a comparison
I'm such a geek that I had fun tainge David's old picture, and my painted one, and just flipping back and forth... and I bet some of you are geeky enough to do that too.

Here's a pic of my 1/60 Battroid WITHOUT the squashed face.
I learned something when doing this simple custom job. The minor addition I put on his jaw makes it so that his head can't rotate 180 degrees during transformation. I have to actually unscrew the head to raise it up enough to turn it around. This leads me to believe that the Yamato VF-1S Squishy head was purely to aid transformation. The 1J heads all extended necks enough to clear for raotation.

Here you go admitidly this one has a missing arm and the funny back pack that some of them had but here you go, I really couldnt be bothered to get my Roy one down from where it is glued.
Wow, that brings back memories. When i was a kid and knew of Roboteh and not Macross, i had one of those that I don't even remember where i got it from... a friend or someone, but you won't believe the fun I had with that ugly piece of crap.
Yamato has taken Macross a long way1
Yamato's 1/60 SV-51.

You said it!
It's like when I was a kid, my little brother played with my jetfire (well built chunky monkey) and broke it by throwing it. It's just a different level now. If you transform them correctly, they don't break. I have 11 yamatos and they're still fully intact.
