  1. Genetically engineered, yes. Artificially created intelligence downloaded into her body? Doubtful, seeing as how if it was a designed AI all they would've done is programmed her to sing and act nice around people but have complete obedience to Grace. Not to mention there would be a fail safe to disconnect her bodily functions and kill her.

  2. Yes while their are people like that in real life as I do know some one whose 25 has had a kid and still looks under 16 I.E. short no breasts young looking etc... I just dont like how THATS become the big attraction in japan and in anime in the past few years. Like talk about promoting pedopholia when one of the love interests in every anime looks like shes 12 but IS 16-20 and has 10000 pron comics made about her because thats the in thing in japan I guess... short flat chested girls that dress like elementary skool kids :S

But that's not the worst japan has come out with, by far. There are much more disturbing stories....and by stories I mean the lack there of.

  3. Ok so did Sheryl actually tour anywhere else? we know that Frontier was the end of her intergalactic tour. But from what we have seen in episode 15 she was downloaded into her body on the flight to Frontier.

Like Jenius said, Sheryl's known for being "all natural", although if Grace has always been her informant, and Sheryl's been an experiment since she was born, the truth of that is questionable.

And even Grace said it was a Galactic tour, moving throughout the other expansion fleets that would end at Frontier. If it was a lie, she would've just said that during the recap episode.

  4. It's just another theory to put out there. Since the Vajra aren't on Earth there's no reason to believe that their hive society should be held to the restraints of Earth's hive socieites (so my original quote should have been: "that's how all hives work in the whole universe" so it didn't sound as grandiose as the workings of the universe itself). Really though the theory doesn't have to hinge on this bigger/worse Vajra being a King, it could just be a more grand queen or some sort of ranking that doesn't have any earth equivalent whatsoever (nor indication of sex). It's not like we really know much about Vajra reproduction at this point other than the fact it involves eggs often times left in the hulls of ships.

Well keep in mind evolution will dictate the best structure becoming prevalent. Since every hive society on earth has evolved to involve only a queen and no king, it's only logical to deduce that even extraterrestrial hive societies will form the same structure. But this is all "sci-fi science".

From a writing standpoint, the vajra are modeled after bugs on earth and their hierarchy here. The hives, a drone's lack of independent reasoning, and the central queen dictating actions is all pointing out what they're based on. As such, I'd think their behavior is just one of survival. There's different colonies of vajra, just as there's countless bee hives, but in the end they're all the same species. One grand ruler of all the hives, a sort of 'super queen', seems rather unlikely and would result in much larger scale attacks against Frontier because then all vajra would be united rather than the separate groups and individual sorties.

  5. It's been pretty dependable up until now but the subbers we have left seem to be coding the lyrics with the same timings as the dialog. I switched (on Mac) to using MKVtool to open the file and play it with mplayer - this worked fine showing the lyric on above the subs until mplayer crapped out about 10 minutes into episode 16. All my mkv' s seem to have sound sync problems when I play them on my PC. Same files play Ok on the Mac. Some I guess it's my PC set up but my CCCP is okay so, I dunno.

If some one knows how to launch mplayer by itself with a command to play the subs let me know!

That sounds like you're computer can't handle the higher quality versions. I had a similar problem on my old desktop.

I just wish everything was compatible, it'd make technology so much easier.

  6. Can someone tell me how to (or if it is possible) fix an issue I'm having with subs? It seems like whenever a song is playing the subtitles of the song's lyrics get layered right on top (or below) the subtitles of the dialogue. The result is a stack of letters right on top of each other that is utterly illegible. This was especially annoying in Lunar's subtitles for episode 15.

Gotta let us know what you're playing the episodes on and what type they are. It sounds like you're using VLC player and it's a .mkv file. If you're not using a Mac, google CCCP and use the Media Player Classic. If you are using a Mac, watch the .avi versions.

  7. What is Sheryl Nome?

    A. Android

    B. Clone

    C. Cyborg

    D. A real person that was kidnapped and then reprogrammed.

    E. A completely original creation of genetic engineering.

Combination of B and E, she's not an exact clone but I imagine there's some real Nome genes floating around in here.

  8. I've been beginning to wonder if Sheryl's earring really were her mother's. It seems much more likely that Grace gave it to her as a part of the "Fairy 9" project and told her that it was from her mother to insure that Sheryl always kept the earrings with her.

Once Grace revealed Sheryl was an experiment anything linking her to any 'past' is guaranteed to be fabricated. Also, the fact it's made out of fold quartz, which is the aim of the Galaxy AI, is too convenient to be a coincidence.

  9. So it appears Grace is some kind of multiple-entity, but was born on Gallia 4 suggesting she wasn't always this ephemeral being but once was human.

I think Grace was "born" on the SDF Global, since the way they said it was like destroying the planet was an additional side effect. Also, this group on Galaxy working behind the scenes had to get the information from somewhere, so I'm betting they're survivors from the 117th Research Fleet with their own agendas.

I think there's a lot of things we can speculate about now but we'll have to wait until the series resolves them.

  10. That second one is most likely it, we want different angles of missile firings so the hatches need to alternate somehow. That can only be anime magic though unless we really want to presume they designed them different for whatever reason. You could say I guess that Ozma's is an older pack and Alto's was made more recently but we don't know that. Gilliam could have used that armor pack before but it seems clearance is rarely granted for more than one pilot to use those packs.

I think it'd be more that Alto's still the newest recruit and his track record with armor packs and suits in general isn't the best. The heavy pack is probably the most expensive out of the available lists.
