Here's what I've been working on for the past month.
(Painted & Unpainted same armor)
This was my first experience making something like this. It is not complete, needs some more adjustments and I need to repaint an entire section. Proportions are not anime accurate. From across the room it looks pretty good. Less than 3 feet away not so much. Learned a lot making it. I have plenty of materials left and plan to start again and make an improved one.
Awesome work man. The raised effect with beveled edges on the helmet visor is spot on. I know the feeling of not being 100% accurate, the artist is their own harshest critic. People are going to get a kick out of it and thats the point. from Macross the room it looks pretty good. Would like to be at the convention to get a pic.

What did you use for the helmet faceplate?
I cut this to size with a dremel http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00435MT16/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Then used this to coat http://www.amazon.com/Transparent-Candy-Green-Enamel-Paint/dp/B004R6Z9YA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426782324&sr=8-1&keywords=testors+candy+green

thanks for the options & info. Understood that it's a safety precaution, I'll go with a sharp orange, looks good with the black, white, blue color scheme. Now I can go jogging at night in the Dyson flight suit.
-
I'd like to throw out a question:
The Shoulder pads, shoes and helmet Dyson wears has a color that seems to change a bit depending. Would you consider it more of a yellow, orange or mix? Some reference pics https://www.google.com/search?q=isamu+dyson&safe=off&rlz=1C1ASUC_enUS617US617&espv=2&biw=1858&bih=952&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=tdAFVYu1KMaWgwS2p4LACQ&ved=0CCQQsAQ&dpr=1

Well I really did it this time. All four panels I submitted for Anime Boston got accepted.

The Beargguy is a mobile suit from the Gundam Build Fighters anime. The Bruinsguy is a model kit of the Beargguy I'm doing a custom paint/decal job based on the Boston Bruins hockey team. Its something I've been meaning to do for a long time since before last years AB, but life and the rarity of the kit has been getting in the way so it might not be ready.

Congrats! Looks like the kaiju vs mecha theme will have some quality mecha content! Always bet on mecha!
I'd like to see that paint job! Sounds badass! Was looking forward to watching them play the Penguins today but got stuck with a long work day. I'll stream the broadcast
Go B's!Not trying to start a fire here but has anyone seen this? http://animeboston.com/news/article/505

Great to see Macross will be featured in a few panels this year. Depending on schedules (chaos reigns during the con) I'd like to hit up Heavy Metal, Air Combat and RotV.
renegadeleader1, what's Bruinsguy beargguy?
david, anime con birthday weekend, go for it. Sunday is kinda beat, the meat of the con is Friday and Saturday, not that it would not be fun but bang for the buck, i recommend Saturday.

Just saw an update, Richard Epcar will be attending AB '15. Awesome! Would bringing the 1/60 Yamato YF-21 be too much?
-
Hello MW,
Will anyone be attending this year? I'll be going all 3 days. Let's hope the snow will be gone by then....

lucky :0Hey everybody, I'm Canadian and in Canada.
Lurker here, getting back around to typing instead of point & clicking

Happy The Super Dimension Fortress Macross Hybrid Pack [30th Anniversary Box] Release Day!
I am one of those fools that ordered this beast ( play-asia seemed to have the "best" price..)

The ultimate dilemma I am facing, besides the bill, is to open or not to open....The collector in me wants it to remain sealed and pristine while the gamer / Macross fan in me wants to open and play and watch and generally dig around like a pig looking for truffles.
Thankfully everyone here at MW have uncovered the fact that the BD of DYRL will be edited for violence. Violent images that are commonly shown in everyday commercials. I still would like to see and more importantly HEAR what the BD has to offer. I still dream of a day when I can afford/find a copy of the Macross Plus Limited Edition Blu-Ray.
Now I'll wait while EMS takes, what will seem like, forever.

blasphemy....no..... you have corrected a great injunction against what is called truth. C'mon!!!! Transformers are/have been ripping off the veritech for long enough! You made it as it should be and superbly done.
Maybe mike bay <-sp? will get $100 gillion to do a crappy US Macross film. Bay will star in his own movie as Fokker but he wont die in the rewrite! <-more blasphemy.

Can you perhaps take a picture of the stuff in picture 5 - only from straight ahead rather than from above? It would make things look much better

Hiya Pete!
thank you very much for the compliment but compared to what ive seen in the boards here ive got a small fry in the pan but glad you enjoy it

here is the shot you recommended.
Max & Milia are en route from HK so i should be able to post another pic next week.

Hey MW!
i've been lurking the site for some time but never really had much to post about. I just like reading the details you ppl jump into and seeing any and all that is Macross. Mw'ers and hardcore and I have much to learn here. Glad to be a part of it and hope to make a MWCon sometime in the future
Quick back story; i was talking to a coworker about anime in general and I brought up SDF and Plus, then asked why there was no more Macross (i didn't torrent at the time but now i unfortunatley HAVE to in order to see the newer series') and he sent me a link to this site so i could get the full story of the attrocities and harm that harmony gold brought to all the U.S. fans.
here is a w.i.p. that should have been posted weeks ago. I'm looking for advice but would also like to share the Revoltech fun.
Post any ideas / critics / advice.
I have seen the Island project by ron and have already bothered him. I look forward to any and all comments. -
No posts since '05. Well... I'm on

I hear you about not wanting to 'Stand Clear Of The Closing Doors PLEASE' <--great automated recording. Not worth being indoors and the bars/restau's did have the cool quality of having hidden outdoor areas. If you go to Murakami, there is a Greek spot that has a pretty nice outdoor area hidden away. It's across the intersection at the corner by the Water Fountain opposite side of the street.
His book is $65 and its crammed with his whole life story, influences and thougths behind his work. Lots of fun.

If you hit that other figure store give us an update (Image Anime or Forbidden Planet, thanks Sturmvogel). Let us know how it is, I'd like to go back soon and would like to see more spots in the city and Get some Macross Valuable Items!!
-
I just got back from a weekend in NY and that is one great city!!!
There is the http://www.toytokyo.com/ store near St. Marks place that was pretty good, although the only Macross item found was a weird barbie style Hikaru Ichijo Rick.... *_* but they did have the 1/4 size Cloud figure for $400!!!
There was also a video game store that rocked! Its http://www.videogamesnewyork.com/?page_id=87&category=40 and it had a good selection of import games and 3 foot tall Mario out front!!
Plus I highly recommend going to see the Murakami exibit

If you ever take the Chinatown bus to Boston let me know. Gotta go to Tokyo Kid http://tokyokid.com/ they have an old VF-1J in the window.
Wraith!!! that horrible to know, so sorry

Hi MW,
this is my first post and I am here to see if anyone is going to this http://providenceanime.com/ . It is the first year of PAC and ITS ROBOTECH!!!!
After reading up on HG forum and the reason why we cant have Macross w/o 'illegally' DL'ing all the recent episodes I gotta say that Im pissed that hobotech is taking the cake for PAC and a friend (who told me about this site) are going in order to raise hell to THIS GUY http://providenceanime.com/programming/guests/mckeever.shtml
Hell or hi water they NOT hear us out.
poo, they are still accepting panelists and Id like to see a ninja Macross attack.

^
hehe sh!t IS poo (funny editing MW)
Anyway. Macross World is great. Much needed and greatly appreciated.

Anime Boston 2015 April 3 - 5
in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Posted
We will certainly be there. Particularly looking forward to Air Combat in Anime clips/scenes.
A side note, I'm looking to bring my unopened copy of the amazon Cowboy Bebop blu-ray to the swap meet. I posted a pic on the swap meet forum http://forums.animeboston.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=19053 and got some responses but nothing really caught my eye. Anybody here interested? A bucket list item of mine is a Yamato 1/60 VF-11, I'd hand over Bebop plus cash for that.
One week to go!
