  1. Once again Mr March I'm with you on the creative license in that scene and the later one with Roy. And just to try and get this thread back to Frontier (I know it was me who started this in the first place) I would be open to hearing anyone's ideas on what they think about the head guns and the wing root guns on the 25. I think that they are the same model of weapon, from the little that I have seen they look to do the same amount of damage and the fire looks the same. And it would be smart to have four of the same gun as to having two different types of guns that appear to do the same thing. But hey its all tech! -edit- On a side note I am still waiting to see the nacelle guns on the 27 get some screen time.
  2. You could chalk that up to two facts. - One it could be a first gen energy weapon and have been underpowered. (the UN might not have planed to go up against an anti-UN aircraft with energy converting armor) And two, the VF-0 did not have the reaction engines, only custom tuned turbofans. So it may have not had too much extra power to feed the laser depending on how much power was going to the energy converting armor system.
  3. Yeah I saw that too, btw loved that scene in DYRL? at the end, even with everything else he had, he STILL flipped the head lasers down and that look on his face, sweet!
  4. I totally agree with you Mr March, I was just going on a 'how cool was that' tangent. It was never my intention to say that later VFs were or are lacking in the firepower department. I do like wing guns on 25, but for some reason the wing guns on the 19 just never have clicked with me. I guess that it has something to do with the fact that with the wings swinging into the wing root where the guns are at and that the wings themselves are mounted on that one single mount just seems to me that maybe a little too much is going on in that wing. And it would be just a little bit of overkill to have a VF that had a gun pod, forward firing head guns and wing root guns, but then that too would look damn cool all going at once.
  5. I agree that function is part of it but I think that it may have more to do with making the transformation system a little less complicated in that the head unit does not have to be moved from the ventral side all the way to top of the airframe. It also allows for the improved waist joint system.
  6. We have Grace and those that she is working with are saying that they will do something that has not been done before and then we have Alto's boss telling Alto that he wants to make the problem of fold faults a thing of the past. (not what he said word for word but basic idea, at least I think) So what if Grace and Co. are not controlling or using the Vajra but instead WANT to use them as they seem to have no problem with fold faults. That could be what Grace is trying to get the Frontier fleet to do, wipe out enough Vajra so that those that are left can be rounded up and put to use. Kind of an out there theory but I am having a hard time thinking up reason as to why the SMS was tasked to round up those dead Vajra at the start of episode 16. (and if anyone has said this already, sorry I'm a little out of date on the theories thread.)
  7. Yeah March and Master Dex, I'm with you guys on all that, the only thing that tips it in favor of the turret is that it is more of an offensive weapon system as to the defensive nature of the dorsal mounted guns.
  8. A thought came to me about how the fold system works in Frontier as to all other macross series I know that something like this was talked about before so I hope that I'm not restating what someone has said already. (and sorry if I do, too lazy to hunt for the topic) Anyways my thought is that the fold system that jumps the ship may not be as efficient as the ones seen in Frontier. It may have been found that opening a gateway ahead of the ship has more benefits than the first systems. The only way that I can think to explain this would be to say that you could just take a running start at locked door and kick it down or you could stop and take the time to unlock and open the door then just walk right through. Both work but which one would you want to do. Kind of simple I know.
  9. Aw, come on this is the tech thread I love the long posts. And am I the only one who misses the way that the VF-0/1s kept the head stored on the ventral side of the VFs in fighter mode. I always thought that having that as a turret was just cool, I know why it isn't done anymore but still like it.
  10. Does the Galaxy have Quadrulunn? I thought that Sherly said that there where no Zentradi in the Galaxy fleet or did I miss something. (always a possibility)
  11. I still have to go with Hikaru on this. Even though as someone said earlier he has trashed a good number of VF-1s, he has also fought and lived through some of the largest battles ever seen. He survived a run in with Milia (he did right haven't seen it in so long, there was that one episode of SDF Macross right before he got shot down by Misa - Remember, friendly fire isn't!) Survived Misa. But to each his own.
  12. I think that we need two polls for this, one for best hero and one for best pilot, Dyson's a great pilot but the way that he just does what ever he wants to is the only thing that puts him out of the running for hero in my book. I know that he saved the day on earth but thats not why he was going there in the first place. Makes me wonder just what he was going to do once he got there.
  13. As of right now I have to go with Hikaru because he was not only a good pilot but was also able to fill the roll as a leader, ask again at the end of Frontier I think that Alto has potential if he can calm down a bit.
  14. I think that the line art was pulled from a magazine by someone on the forums but I can't remember but I just remembered about this one as well (and it is fan made but still good) and don't forget to post what ever you get done here I'm sure that we would all like to see and good luck. And about that end piece you were asking about, if it is the very last part of airframe then that would be the shield that is mounted on the left arm.
  15. I think that the best images of the VF-25 for what you want to do would be this line art that posted a while back. As for the part you are asking about, if you look on the lower left Gerwalk image it is the part just ahead of where the arms start (at least thats what I think) hope this helps. Sulendil Ang beat me to it - I type too slow - oh wait its a different image.
  16. Ok this has been bugging me but is it just me or does the Frontier fleet with all those islands hooked on one another seem like it would cause problems during things like course corrections. I can't even start to think of the mass involved with something like that. Also I was thinking about what would be the ideal atmospheric pressure. Would too much, i.e. sea level, make the air rush out faster in the event of a hull breach, would too little decompress the island just as fast. On a different note, after having seen more of the 27s, I am not seeing too much open space for the mounting of fast packs. I would say that it could mount leg and arm packs but not anything like wing packs of the 25 or the dorsal packs of most other VFs, unless it was a single pack on the center line like the VF-5000. And that may not be a design defect, the 27 with the wing mounted engine, cannon and missile launcher nacelles could be the first attempt at an integrated fast pack VF design. And on the subject of fast packs, looking at super and armor packs of the VF-25s it seems to me that one could mix and match parts from each to create the loadout needed for the mission at hand. Something along the lines of a 25 with the super packs, but with the leg packs of the armor pack to up the missile load. Can you think of all the kit bashing possibility when the toys come out.
  17. After seeing this last episode I am convinced that Brera is a jerk. He and his flight stay out of the fight so Ranka can be tested, then when Rabbit-1 has bandits on her tail and Alto rolls in to clear them out Brera is like 'No you suck, its my job to protect her.' So he seems to care more about Grace's plan until Alto is about to show him up. And I'm with the others who think that Brera and the other VF-27s are just a litte too welcomed by the Frontier. Someone, aka Leon has got to be doing some great work to cover that all up. With just the fight between Alto and Klan vs Brera that should be more than enough to raise a few red flags on these guys, and thats not counting all the other run ins with the 27s but like it has been said - coverup. As for how the Vajra seem to have been turned to cannon fodder I am a strong believer that combat it the fastest form of Darwinism out there and the Frontier fleet has adapted to the new threat. To me the Vajra are bioweapons and as of right now I don't feel bad for them, I haven't seen any attempt by them to stop fighting or break free over who is holding them and until I do they will be labeled as weapon systems in my mind. Maybe in later episodes it will be shown what was done to them and more and then maybe my thoughts will change. (I try to keep an open mind.)
  18. Ok I did a little hunting and this is what I came up on the those pics - _Mr.Shoji Kawamori's sketch to VF-4A(B,C) "Siren" and FAST pack VF-4A/B/C "Siren" FAST pack page These image is contained "MUSASIHA Ltd. 1/72 resin VF-4A kit" drawn by Shoji-Kawamori._ -Not my words they were taken from the site that I found.
  19. It turns on and off based on where a certain VF-25S is at any given time. (I wouldn't want to be the guy to explain to Ozma that it was me who 'painted' that nose art of Ranka!) Ok now I've got the idea in my head of two guy standing on the deck of the Quarter, one with a pair of binoculars and the other with a remote going "Off." "He's clear, quick back on." "OFF OFF OFF, aww we're dead."
  20. Hey March don't know if you have come across these before but thought that I'd toss them out here for a little VF-4 love. Can't for the life of me remember where I found them.
  21. Looking at the image of that unknown aircraft again I saw a few things that I didn't pick up on at first. One It looks to me as if it has the same cockpit setup as the VF-27, no standard canopy with a fully enclosed cybernetic control system. And two, the quad set canards looks close to those on the 27 as well. So could this be a support/scout craft for the 27s, or it could be part of a 'Hi/Low' mix of the Galaxy's fighter wings with the 27s being the top of line and this (could we give this thing a name?) is a cheap, quick to manufacturer non-variable fighter. Almost forgot but at the end episode 14 when Brera is leaving the ship with Ranka in her 'egg' did anyone else catch that he had his 27 in fighter mode with the arms still deployed? Don't think that I've seen that done with a VF before.
