    Bandai DX VF-31

I pulled this up on my phone at work today and laughed out loud. Knew there would be grousing-a-plenty here and was not disappointed

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

I got burned by a bad eBay seller on the initial 29 (Alto's, right?) before I really understood the release cycle for these things, so I was plenty happy to be able to get the Isamu variant when it came down the pipe

    Bandai DX VF-31

I've been lurking on this thread for *checks* essentially three years to the day since it started (off-and-on, admittedly). When the Deltas were announced, having not seen the show (still haven't) I took a look at the illustrations of all the color schemes and decided I could pick one that I liked best, purely on aesthetics, and limit myself to that. I picked Chuck :| Glad I waited- that orange is really working for me (and the degree to which it is or is not cannon is meaningless in my case). Really excited to finally add a radome to the collection; also just glad to simply get in the 31 game- it's taken me long enough. As has been said elsewhere, the armor feels like a bridge too far so I'll be passing on that, mercifully.

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

Knee-jerk reaction from the 31a ordeal...?

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

Overslept like a chump! Thanks for saving my bacon, CDJ...
  8. I want to go to there... Would be in for the black
  9. If any body else has overly tight hip ball joints out of the box, it's a very easy fix: Just loosen to desired tension! It removed a lot of the drama of transformation...
  10. So I'm about 90% of the was through a (harrowing but mostly enjoyable) transformation no. 1; anyone else have like wicked-tight hip joints? I feel like amount of force I'm putting on the ball joint is roughly twice what is reasonable, and the thing barely budges! I've got half a mind to loosen a screw or something... The guy on the transformation video (@ 5:48) makes this look so easy!
  11. I just got payment request from HLJ as well (FYI: my PO was from one of the "open for 2 minutes" windows a few weeks back).
  12. Thanks to everyone posting links. After seeing the pre-order button on AmiAmi and getting cart-jacked at HS, scored my first pre-order with CDJ... despite having to stop and create an account >_< Also: thanks to people chatting in this thread before POs opened up. Really helped calm the mood before the madness!
  13. "Curse my metal body, I wasn't fast enough."
  14. Looks like I picked a hell of a time to get back into collecting valks. Thanks for the NY link. Coming out to almost 400$ exactly with the fast shipping is something I can come to live with. It's kindof fun to be getting in super early on a release with all of the legit/hardcore people on this board. Conversely, it feels silly to be up at 4:45 AM on the east coast. But it is the burden we must bear, amirite? Also it seems worth it for some sweet, sweet Lightning III Action.

    does the scale matter?

Erm, on a non-innuendo-related note: I just started collecting earlier this year with a 1/60 YF-19, as the mech has been a favorite of mine for quite a while. Just recently, I made my next entry a 1/48 VF-1J Hikaru. "What?! He must be crazy! The scales won't match! Ichijo will be several times taller than Isamu!!" I know. And the detail-nut that I am, that kinda bothered me too. But having stalked these forums for a few months now, it's easy to see that the 48's have been a pretty big part of the history of these kinds of toys. The shift to all 1/60 seems to be the end of an era, and I know for a fact that there are some real die-hard 1/48 people out there still. So, for me personally, I just kinda wanted to see what all the hype was about. (My initial impression is in the affirmative: it is an impressive work of toy) Does scale matter? It seems like if you have a giant collection, it certainly does. If there's all sorts of valks all over the place, they should probably be arranged in a manner that is internally consistent, and makes sense on the eyes. As for me? Sorting's a pretty easy job right now. I can sort by series and scale in about two seconds. ::scoots the 1J a few inches away from the 19:: Done!

    gummy pilot

Maybe this wasn't the most delicate way to remedy this, but I got a little irked: The first time I tried to get the little guy in there, I think the sharp corners of the console scuffed a bit of the white paint on his little knee. Not the end of the world, by any measure, but a little irritating. So, that console was in the way? I popped it off. I think I just hooked my finger nails around it, and pulled up a little bit. The glue gave way, and the console just comes off the peg it sits on quite nicely. With it off, you have the room to get the dude all situated, and then the console just sits right back on its peg really snug-like. I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that this was not an intended feature, but there's no damage done, and it makes getting the guy in and out a lot easier! More on topic: I only own the 19, so I can't speak to the others. Hopefully their cockpits are a little roomier, for the gummies' sakes!
  17. I've been lurking for a month or two now, but I feel so strongly about this I have to weigh in! YF-19 all the way. No question. This is the valk that got me into Macross in the first place: I saw Macross Plus maybe... 5-6 years ago, and out of the blue I looked into getting a YF-19 toy earlier this year because I just remembered it being so cool! (I'm sure you guys know how it goes after the first one...) I'm currently looking into a QC-sound Zero. Wish me luck on that... P.S.: I always harbored this weird grudge against the 21. No idea why. The 1/60 iteration is quickly wearing that away though.
