Ah, here's a good one, being a cast off from Robotech.
Did the U.N. Spacy ever complete the rest of the Grand Cannon system? I mean Jesus, in the one episode we see it in it is by far the most powerful weapon ever seen deployed in Macross, ever. Not even Boldoza's fortress did more damage in DYRL. I find it hard to believe such an awe-inspiring weapon would never be replicated.
-
Which is a shame, since the Macross saga Robotech novels were actually quite well written.
What nationality is Bruno?
-
Interesting, what about the visual aspect though? I've heard most of the DYRL designs replaced those of SDF.
-
Any real details of the various battles that happen? Are they generally superior to what we see in the show? And how does Ozma fair?
-
As a general rule, Macross canon is pretty fluid right?
Do You Remember Love and Macross are both seperate stories, but parts of each series are 'truth' correct? Same with Macross Plus the OVAs vs the Movie, and Frontier vs False Diva / Wings of Goodbye?
In other words the broadstrokes are true, but the smaller details are left up to the individual's imagination? Is that what the creators have said? Or something else entirely?

Too soon to request some nice HD wallpapers of Valkyries 2: Second Sortie?
There's a tragic lack of good, official HD Frontier mecha wallpaper.
-
Does Ozma survive?
Answer in spoiler tags please.
Graham
From what I read on Animesuki...
Ozma gets shot down by Brera, but survives. And yeah, I was rather worried about that too, screw the love triangle! We need more senpais to survive.
-
It has lots of explosions and dakka though right?
Because really, that's what is important.

Hey guys, questions from a Macross toy newbie.
The Macross Frontier VF-25S Armored Messiah Valkyrie Ozuma 1/72 scale is going for cheap on Amazon. But it's a model kit and I don't have much experience with those.
I've heard there's no painting and glue, snap together style, which is fine with me. But is the assembly guide easy to follow? I have patience, I just don't read Japanese.
-
I'm prepared to wait the year or so before it hits DVD/Blu-ray and gets translated. I'm just worried that I'm going to see a spoiler somewhere before then. I wonder if we'll have to censor any scans of related material as it gets posted here on the site? Sometimes, those can give away the story. Fanart might do it, too!
You have will of iron, far more than me.
Probably worth the wait though, let's just hope the release comes soon than a Hellsing OVA.
From what I've read though, it sounds like I may end up liking the films better than the series.

There are some pretty detailed summaries raging on Animesuki at the moment. But 90% of it is centered on the love triangle, which is not important to me as the battles.
-
Ha ha, holy poo poo. Did I read that spoiler right? Spoilers obviously.
Isamu-gawddamn-Dyson shows up in his VF-19 to help out SMS? Daaaym. With him and Ozma blazing away, the Vajra don't have a prayer!
Screw the love triangle, it's already better than the TV show!
-
Soooooooo many new faces in here.
NO SPOILERS FOLKS. Or I'll track you down and END you.
Oh no, spoil away, just put them in boxes.
-
Well, I guess the waiting game begins for those of us stuck in the States, but summaries will do for now. And don't forget the battle summaries! Shipping is nice... but so are ships.
Interested to see how the plot with the Vajra works out, since they seem much more ruthless this time.
-
Hey, it gets bonus points for being named after my favorite mythic sword.
-
Well, I sort of like it has elements of what superficially resembles an F-14 and X-29. Not sure if the VF-19 had those elements before.
As for being overpowered? Too early to tell, Valks aren't Gundams afterall. The only ones that can drop Capital ships like a bad habit have reaction missiles or shells. As long as there's no uber beam, I'll be happy.
Perhaps it's something similar to an F-15 ACTIVE. The VF-25 is the next generation standard model, the ACTIVE was proof of concept and test bed. That doesn't seem too unreasonable.

here it is:

Let's test it out and see if it works, never done this before >_>
Dude, you're a god amongst mortals. Thanks for this! Saves such a headache from splitting/resplitting the mvk. sub files to hard sub and the reformatting to MP4 to work on my Playstation. Really appretiate it!
Are you planning to do the same thing when Wings of Goodbye comes out?
-
Well, since according to the subs the Vajra decided to bugger off, that prior concern about a new 'super villain' needed isn't necessarily true now.
-
Makes sense as a weapon of last resort, but the unpredictability of it means it can't be used often.
-
So an interesting conundrum now has occurred now that Frontier and the Vajra have made peace. Sure, you can tell smaller Macross stories like Plus or Zero, but what about, say, the big 30th, 40th or 50th anniversary show?
The bugs are now defacto allies of NUNS, i.e. they'd probably fight active Zentradi fleets looking to crush NUNS near the vicinity of their home world.
Since the bugs are now pretty chummy with humans and now understand individuality, it brings up the issue of the next group of villains.
For there to be dramatic tension, the bad guys have to be overwhelming at first, completely superior to the heroes in nearly every way. In Macross, it was sheer numbers and firepower, with the bugs it was their adaptability and totally alien nature.
Basically, the next group of villains have to be able to completely and totally curb stomp the Vajra so bad it again falls upon our human heroes to fight and survive. Oh sure, there may be 'rogue' hives just like rogue Zent fleets, but once an 'enemy' has been cultured in Macross, they stay that way basically. Thus, the next group of ultra baddies need to be able to take down the NUNS, Zentradi and Vajra... and that's going to be more than a little terrifying to witness.
-
Important question:
Alto killed the main queen right? Does that mean the Vajra are going to have to start growing a new one or are they totally screwed in this part of the galaxy?
-
The show kept me entertained episode to episode. The battles and music were fantastic and the characters worked for the most part. I have a feeling the movie is going to continue the love story and solve some of the lingering mysteries, so my inner-shipper is sated. As a stand alone ending though, you could do worse, much, much worse. I rate the series an overall 9.
It's definately the second best Macross TV series. I'd rank it the following:
1. SDFM
2. M+
3. MF
4. M7
5. M0

Dang it I need a better raw....
Is it me or did BG hit BF's right arm or gunship? Cuz I see BF punch BG with the right arm and in the end, with the gunship. Either way, I think there's a animation hiccup.
It punched through the barrel of the gunship and blew it apart Daedalus style. Then Frontier comes in and punches the main body.
-
Anyone else notice the Galaxy fleet (including the Galaxy colony ship) is totally unaccounted for?
Not really, you can see the Galaxy's Kaitos destroyers guarding Grace when Alto and Brera do their epic back to back charge.
Killed off screen. Like most of Boldoza's fleet.
Does anyone have a clean HD picture of this VF-25 armored lineart?

Poor Valkyrie, overshadowed by it's hero VF-29 and VF-27 brothers. This is the ONLY cool looking piece of lineart I've been able to find of the VF-25 armored through Google image search, and I've never seen a duplicate of it. Anyone have a clean version of it?
