  1. I have all all 3 and they are great. Thanks go to Rob (Monkey Nugget) who managed to find me 2 of the 3 kits for a great price! Pity bandai never released a MG kit of the mechs or the kugai..
  2. nahh.. make mine Mac Plus - I love the streamlined design of the 11b and the 19. Although to match the size of the macross 1:48's they would be roughly 1:55 scale? (at a guess?)
  3. haha, I did a Film & TV degree and I work in television so I can give you a few tips! Just stay away from the zoom and you'll be fine! But I hate being on camera - that's why I went for the behind the scenes work.
  4. Well, it's all males so far. Sebastian said he'd bring his backpack (wife) and my wife is going too, so they will probably look at us 20/30-something guys and go "LOSERS!" and go and do tourist things together.. Or, if the more salacious members of our shopathon group visit a girly bar, we may end up with a few hangers-on! Sebastian: you'd better hope your wife doesn't come along, unless she likes girlie bars too!

    Banpresto Valks

yep. get em if they're cheap. I noticed hlj.com is having a sale on the super hikaru. What I DO like about them is they look cool on a shelf if you have a few other scale toys - sort of like a school photo with the shortest guys in front. I have a shelf with my banprestos, a 1:72 hase battroid, 1:60's and 1:55's. oh, and 3 of those mini destroids the exo squad toy line rereleased. My secret shame is I paid WAY too much money for the roy, max and hikaru when they first came out, and everyone was saying how limited the Max one was so I shelled out money thinking how cool they'd be... <_<
  6. lol, that's so cool - our own commemorative fashion wear! MW Superdimensional Shopathon: our motto should be, "STICK IT ON MY CREDIT CARD"
  7. Thanks for the great itinerary! What a shopathon! I see you included a few bootleg shops - I'd love to take home a bootleg jumbo grade 'GUNDAN' toy - not worth the postage but if I could bring it back with me that would be excellent. We could do tourist stuff before 1pm while we wait for the toy shops to open. B) not just that: we'd be a bunch of rabid DRUNK macross fans high on a berzerk toy shopping frenzy!
  8. I hate to say it but this crazy idea started from me saying to sebastian "wanna go shopping in HK in January as that's when I get my work holidays!" And it's mutuated into this! Hmm, we may have to split into 2 groups: the 'singles' group and the 'married' group... we can keep shopping while the rest of you go off to a girlie bar!

Yep - all my banprestos have blue tac to stiffen the joints. I like them personally, but I try to avoid touching them as they are as solid as a house of cards! one touch and they fall apart.
  10. when I had more room, my biggest toy was a star wars AT-AT. And that made a great coffee table! Stupid thing would always have coffee rings on its back.
  11. 1/72 = 3 pcs 1/60 = 11 pcs 1/48 = 4 pcs
  12. For anyone who has the metallic versions, is the paint job better than the normal ones? - ie, crisper lines and less over/under spray?
  13. That's true. Only LOTR has lived up to the trilogy hype. Star wars = disappointing. Matrix reloaded = didn't bother seeing it.
  14. Hi Kevin, I don't have my toys yet, but the dimensions from HLJ list it as: Elint: 38 x 38 x 12cm/1170g OStrich: 38 x 38 x 12cm/1140g and for comparison: normal valks: 29.5 x 27.5 x 10cm/820g super valks: 30.2 x 27.5 x 11.5cm/950g So it seems the box is bigger in length and height but almost the same size in width.
  15. 48 hours!! Did they open up a shop in Florida? Maybe they've fixed their shipping problems finally. So I won't have to wait 25 days to get my stuff.
  16. Yeah, I thought so too. Saving a few bucks on shipping costs is not worth the gamble if I miss out. I know! I'll go and cancel that SEED kit and get a second fastpack set instead!
  17. Go for it, you won't regret it. The FPs are a first class product. I always thought the 1/48 VF-1 by itself is beautiful. Also, the FPs by themselves are beautiful. But when you combine the two together, you end up with something where the whole is oh, so much greater than the sum of the parts. A FAST Pack equipped 1/48 Valk is stunning, really a work of art and all the photos to date just don't do it justice. Graham I just ordered a set at hlj along with the SOC eva 02 and the Assault Shroud SEED KIT! MWA HAHAHA! hehe, you will hate me now. In your opinion, would any fastpack sets be around in hong kong when we're planning that HK shopathon in january? Or should I buy extra sets now?
  18. Damn you Graham for posting that pic of the valk with fastpacks on one of sithlord's stands!! It was the final push I needed to crack and order some.. if he's got any left!
  19. Yes, poor VE-1, while in the prototype stage he took a vacation to Papua New Guinea and tangled with a tribe of head-hunters and got his head shrunk Graham wow... that is tiny... I was gonna get one... but now I'm not so sure. ... VT-1 rocks tho! lol, but it would be pretty easy to mod a new head for it. After all it's just a tube! *ducks*
  20. Stone the heretic! Cast out your evil SEED kits, get down on you knees and pray to the hory Froating head for forgiveness hahah! "Kawamori-san, please accept my next month's paycheck. I will buy 3 more 1/48 fastpack sets to atone for my blasphemy!!" .. after I get a 1/100 assault shroud. hehe, what can I say? The Seed kids are toy crack. Well, model crack. At 17 bucks a pop, they quiet my addiction until the next yamato macross release comes out.
  21. This is very true. What happens when us 20/30-somethings are old and in nursing homes? Who will be interested in Macross if there are no more series coming out? 4 part mini series like Mac+ are great, but they don't get the continuous on-air advertising that a 24 or 36 episode series gets. It's long been accepted that the tv show plays a supporting role the the merchandise. It's funny when I re-watch old Transformers epsiodes that had me hypnotised for half and hour every saturday morning as a kid - they were just brainwashing my small mind to buy their toys! And I loved it! It's no surprise that Gundam is king. They never stop making new material. And then comes the 100's of model kits and toys. I've never seen an episode of Gundam Seed but I own 3 kits.
  22. The only thing that could improve those photos is one of Sithlord's stands: http://www.macrossworld.com/cgi-bin/mwf/ik...t=ST;f=4;t=1857 Which I am saving up for after I buy the elint, ostrich SOC eva 02 and 1/48 fastpacks.. The elint really needs one to show it off with all its radar gear deployed.
  23. Unfortunately I was away for 2 weeks getting married so I missed out on a good member number.. which is SO important, lol. I can't believe I am no. 821! Is anyone lower than me?
  24. That's so true! But I kinda like it. I never got into Gundam Wing with all those feathers and crap. The Freedom has a more mecha look to it rather than looking like an angel.
  25. If the Freedom comes out as a MG kit it will come down to price vs. quality. I've got a couple of the 1/100 Seed kits and they're great value for the price, but the detail is not nearly as good as the MG kits.
