It makes sense... since they regenerate all their ammo, they must need more time to replenish it after a long battle... I'm becoming more and more a fan of the Vajregult... I like the design a lot... Hope we see something like it in the upcoming episodes...

Sorry... I didn't want to overreact, hehe. Actually I liked the art in the pic a lot. However... I found it somewhat disturbing, hehe. But after all, is just fan art... Hehehe... As weird as it may sound I find most of that art made by fans very very well done & beautiful to some degree. I know many ppl find some of the content difficult to watch, but in the end... is just art. After all we are all adults... and that art is aimed toward us, not for kids, hehehe... ...the universal symbol for "very nervous" as shown in manga and/or anime...

Hehehe.... I believe u should head to the "Newbies Questions on Macross" thread... I'd rather turn this thread into a "name the SCI-FI inspirations for Macross..." one. For example... I've always thought that the Zentradi Esbeliben Regult Battlepods were inspired by the Tripods from War of the Worlds & the Space Pod from Stanley Kubrick's "2001"...

Actually they looked more like a mixture of both the Cheyenne & the Tomahawk to me... (the torso of a Tomahawk with the arms and legs of a Cheyenne... an APACHE Destroid?).

So... What's causing that strange glow in Ranka's belly then? & Why Ranka's glow causes the purple stone in Sheryl's earring to glow as well? Answer: Super Dimensional Resonance Crystal...

Speaking of which... I bet those pink crystals are the reason for the Vajra attacks. Maybe they are harvesting the crystals to keep any race from using them to conquer the galaxy, since apparently it could improve fold travel a lot... The Protoculture (or some sentient creations of theirs) must be controlling the Vajra... Maybe the 117th Long Distance Research Fleet was experimenting with those crystals... the whole "fold dislocation" cover story must have been a proper cover up for the Vajra attack. Ranka must be a cyborg created from those experiments... Perhaps she even has a fold reactor inside her... (which could explain her belly "glow").

Yes... Another reason to think of the VF-27 as a Vajra technology demostrator... NO WAY!!!! Can't believe it got low ratings... Episode 7 was great!!!

Actually I hardly believe Galaxy could be a threat since its fleet got severely damaged by the Vajra. More than civil war seems like a weapons development race to me (between Galaxy NUNS & Frontier SMS.... Since Bilrer seems to be from Galaxy... who knows, hehe... maybe he left Galaxy NUNS & made SMS to counter it). Thanks to the subtitles I just realized that Brera's mission was really to analize the Vajra carrier (a type of ship never encountered before by NUNS... That's why Leon said "finally" & Mr. Bilrer seemed very very amused by it). Cathy Glass statements about gathering info before giving aid also make me think of this. The fact that Brera was folding at the end of the episode could indicate that he also was going to Frontier... Brera must have shot the gunpod to avoid anything that could keep him from fullfiling his mission. Luca & Alto really didn't matter anything to him. Since the Vajra carrier overcame the Fold dislocation it must be extremely advanced (hence NUNS interest in it). Luca said something about a fold reactor (the thing made of pink crystal I believe). I'm begining to see Protoculture/Birdman in there... Btw... does anybody here know the name of Mr. Richard Bilrer's seyuu?

I completely agree... The yellow ones seem to compensate the lack of the red's powerful armor with speed. I wonder what other types will be shown in the upcoming episodes???

Because in the past the fleet wasn't prepared for them... (and didn't use reaction weapons, the Monster or Macross Quarter before). As mighty as the Vajra are, they are not indestructible or invincible. (Actually I still found the little S.O.B. Vajra units as deadly as ever... just look how one managed to destroy Alto's VF with its last dying breath... stabbing it with its tail...).

I disagree. If you remember episode 5 (which came after 4, which had lots of military action), several important bits of information regarding the Vajra were shown there despite being a relatively calm episode... It also showed Mr. Bilrer for the first time (sort of) . I bet we will have some VAJRA/Bilrer/NUNS/Harmonica revelations next episode beside all the moe/kawaii/fan service/school action stuff shown in the preview at the end of episode 7... even a new character could be introduced too, hehe... I just love the pace of this series...

I believe most ppl are confusing NUNS with the New United Nations and the New United Goverment. NUN is the New United Nations... which I believe is the same organization that has been ruling the Earth/Zentradi since 2010. NUNS is The New UN Spacy...the new updated space armed forces branch of the NUN... (established recently). Now... NUG is the New United Goverment, which means a new type of goverment system... (which could explain why President Glass is the President of NUN and also the administrator of Frontier... not like years before, when the President was only located on Earth). This new goverment system must be also recent...

Indeed... Most of the designs from Junya Ishikagi look great. I hope they are used eventually... I was about to say that!!! I re-watched the episode and it looks a lot like it. Maybe the Ex-gears were created from "an specimen" of whoever is controlling the Vajra... (Remember... NUNS knows about them since 2040...). Maybe the Vajra are controlled with fold transmission from very very far by someone using a suit like those...

I hope it is eventually used... The design looks great and actually some more variety to the "enemy" forces would be more appealing. So far there have been only 3 types of Vajra units shown in Macross Frontier... The small yellow units, the large red ones and the carrier... (the Zentradi from the old Macross series had several types of units and most of them were shown since the first episodes...). I just noticed something... Maybe the Super Dimensional Resonance Crystals resonate/activate with certain frequencies of music/sound (like the voice of Sheryl and Ranka, or even Brera's harmonica...).

Err... the Vajra Regult actually seems like some Vajra unit that is deployed from a hive like structure... it seems to fly by deploying some sort of wings (like the red large Vajra type unit) and then folds those wings while in the "Regult" mode... If this is ever used in the show... it will mean one thing... Protoculture!

Can somebody tell me where is this from? Found a link in 4Chan to a download site. The file is called animation_note_apr_2008 (is like 20 megs or so). It contains several designs from macross Frontier. This image seems to be about some Junya Ishikagi design notes... There are more from the VF-25, the large Vajra and some other mechanical stuff. Is this from some magazine or is this actually from the Macross Chronicle?

Found this in 4Chan... Junya Ishikagi VAJRA designs... Now... take a look at the designs that haven't appeared in the show yet... will give u a heart attack... (specially the one that looks like certain enemy mecha from the old Macross series... a Protoculture connection?).

Indeed... I have made some info contributions there and is constantly revised by the ppl in charge of such things. You just can't post whatever u want unless it had some sort of official back up and even that is checked a lot. I'm amazed how many ppl didn't know about Howard Glass position as head of the N.U.N. It's been there all time, hehehe. Now the size and extent of the Frontier Fleet makes more sense to me... I regularly check the site for information, u should too, hehe... Macross Compendium I completely agree. Most people I've shown the series (even non-Macross fans of anime) tell me it rocks. And none of them have even seen episode 7!!!!!
