Does anybody remember how much time passed since Frontier was first announced and its premier? I discovered these forums in the same year Frontier started....

I think he means that the Plus valks were not CG. Anyway, Save in the latest podcast mentioned that the valks in the commercial were actually modelled in 3D and then made to look like 2D hand-drawn anime.

I do see some vectors in the animations and they look a lot like those from other productions (exactly the same sequences) but the texturing and the art looks 2D.

And yes, Macross Plus had some CG valkyries in it...

I'm surprised how many people tend to "take sides" regarding the new series setting. It should be either brand new stuff or an exact remake. Why can't it be a mix of both? Yamato 2199 did it already and it was great...

Macross 30 would be perfect as the next macross TV series. It has all the elements that make Macross great.

Kawamori has already said that Macross 30 is the official sequel to Frontier and is part of the official Macross canon, so making a new TV series about it would be redundant...

A reboot of the first series on the other hand...

As much as you seem to be excited by this old style animation (I like it too), it is not hand drawn nor 2d, it is CG all over again.

Is digital art but is obviously hand drawn. Is not computer generated (vectors and stuff)... that's why the models do not look as 3D realistic as those of Plus, Zero and Frontier...

Is your logo made with Photoshop or illustrator?

I'd love to get a vector or hires copy.

I completely concur with Marchomatic, it is a very refreshing update on the UN Spacy kite insignia!

UN Spacy is an abbreviated form of United (Unified) Nations Space Navy.

To shorten it would be UNS, which is rather vague on its own. I also have concerns over the latest iteration on the Name, "NUNS" [New (neo) UN Spacy] in that, when is the organization no longer new or neo?

I think that the whole concept of "nations" is going to be moot by then. It will be more about planets... that's why I thought of the name United Planets (U.P.)... a coalition of worlds... Earth, Eden, Zola, etc.

While the original TV series had awesome sequences and designs... lets face it. The anime friend and starpro episodes haven't aged well. In fact, every person I know who didn't like the first Macross told me it was because of those episodes...

Besides.... I it find pretty suspicious that they used a classic DYRL SDF-1 Macross shadow in the official announcement...

Interesting concept art for the Valkyrie. Very different but would need some refinement to make the Battroid mode much more stylish. Since the highly advanced technology of your fictional world allows such radical transformative capabilities in the Valkyrie, It's not like you'd have to be constrained by traditional Kawamori-esque design (since there wouldn't be any toys, lol). So you could litterally make the Battroid look however you want

I think your logo is my favorite piece of design work you've done for this story so far. I am REALLY impressed with how you've managed to keep the style of the old logo, but create a very different graphic design from it. I like it!

I love the idea of "far" future science fiction, but it's very difficult to get it right. By virtue of far future technology, many traditional "dramatic situations" that we are used to in our current fiction are either hampered or obsolete by default. Much like how cell phones would have solved the conflict of a lot of older movies One of the few writers I know that has been able to write far future fiction really well is Iain M. Banks, particularly his "Culture" novels. I'd recommend reading his work for inspiration or ideas.

And they can link neurologically with a human "handler" or operator (who can also get inside them). They would be more like EVAs or something from Dragon's Heaven or Diebuster. BTW, the logo is intended as a mix between the old kite logo and the NUNS one. The white shape now symbolizes the forward-swept wings from the hero VFs from Macross Plus and the Frontier film...

So in 3 to 4 centuries.....Macross will evolve into Transformers?

My proposal for a new Macross series. It would be set 3 or 4 centuries in the future. The hero VF of the show would be the VF-900 "Vajra", a new liquid metal advanced and sentient VF (I was inspired by the ship from "Flight of the Navigator").

The NUNS would have changed into the U.P. SPACY or United Planets Space Navy by then...

I hope is Macross The First animated. We already had Yamato 2199, which was awesome, and there is Gundam The Origin coming soon... so the next logical step for Bandai would be a Macross remake...

The Megaroad was going on a tour of Earth that would've led to death and destruction. They should animate this for fun and keep it in an alternate universe. Sunriser and Asteroid Cracker; I just love those special attack names..

Yeah... Kawamori and Co should make the Battle City Megaroad series so they make toys based on this beast...
