  1. i would hazard, that all the hurt ranka's been through over several episodes is topped out by sheryl in just one.

i'm bracing myself for a sheryl drought, but as long as she wins in the end, i'll be happy. still have this nagging feeling she might go out moulin rouge style.

d3v, yeah i changed both the personal photo and the avatar (in the required pixel sizes) but still no dice. the updated avatar (sheryl looking longingly into the sunset) is showing in My Controls but not on the boards.

can someone please, please make an animated gif of that? even if i can't get use it as an avatar, at least i'll be able to look at it from time to time. <geez, i sound like a smitten teenager, but wth>

For the record, I see your avatar as Sheryl staring into the sunset, so it does work. That problem happened to me for a while, before I changed to this pic of the VF-25G I had a different one of the G and at first it looked to me like it didn't change but in my controls it did. Eventually my avatar on my posts showed the updated picture. If refreshing the page doesn't work, close out your browser and come back and check. If not then maybe restart computer but I don't think you'll need to go that far, mine just took a little while.

  2. Anyone notice that the VF-25 can store its gunpod on its leg in Episode 12?

Watch carefully when Alto switches to the knife to stab Temjin's Q-rea. It's stored on the right leg.

Yes, you are correct. I didn't notice that first so I went to check and it is true. So now we know what the VF-25 battroid can do with its gun when it's not using it.

Also, I have pictures to show what Sumdumgai is saying. Gunpod circled in red.

This shouldn't need spoiler tag anymore as the episode aired over 24 hours ago. However if I am supposed to have something like that I'm sure someone will let me know.

  3. When the Kamjin clone gets the call on his eye phone, just after the eyecatch, any idea who he is talking to?

Also, I get the feeling that the first time the Zentradi open fire on each other, they are missing on purpose.

    Graham

I believe it was Grace letting him know what Alto was up to. That is how they caught him so fast. I got that impression anyway, it seemed he was talking to an informant of some type.

  4. Er, no. Construction was halted during the Space War I, and it resumed in 2010, when the half completed vessel was redesigned into the Megaroad-01.

Agreed, the way I always knew it was that SDF-2 was designed to be exactly like the SDF-1 but bigger, however when the Zentradi attacked the project was halted. After the rain of death and the decision to spread humanity across the stars it was redesigned and made into the Megaroad-01. There was never a completed second Macross class vessel (or if there was and this thing on Gallia 4 is one then we never knew about it).

On another note, MisaForlorn, is your changing of avatar just so people will forget about how you so quickly ditched your love of Misa for Klan Klan? You can't run away from your feelings. ;):p

  5. Yeah, I can tell it is still a prototype even though these are the first colored prototypes of the DX. I have so far not been disappointed. I am remembering back to the earlier prototype pics we saw of this thing and there were so many people convinced that we were seeing the final product just because we were seeing something. Even now with colored models of the toy we still aren't seeing the final version (probably not even done with that yet since it is for November release). Heheh, patience is a virtue.

  6. I was thinking, maybe this is some copy of the Macross that was created somehow and ended up on Gallia 4, so the original may still be on Earth. I am suggesting here it isn't a copy humans made but just somehow happened (as in something yet to be explained or understood). It's a possibility anyway. However I am kind of liking the twist idea that it is the Earth's Macross that randomly ended up there.

  7. Or probably they have enough of Macross-jack. SDF-1 has been hijacked twice, first by Sharon Apple and second by the roque UN Spacy during the VFX-2 event. This probably makes the higher up to decide to re-activate SDF-1 as fleet flagship and probably during that time the fold drives went berserk again and took the whole ship to Galia 4.

So epi.13 is Golbal report, so I can assume that

Alto and Ranka find the remains of the captain and his bridge bunny in the bridge

Who keeps saying these things, it wasn't the Macross that got hijacked in VF-X2, it was the Macross 13. Which was promptly blown to bits.

  8. I'm starting to wonder if a second Macross class ship was made and that isn't the SDF-1 we all know and love. I know the original SDF-2 became Megaroad-01 but maybe for reasons known only to themselves the UNS.. or NUNS depending on when this happened built another ship in this configuration... only to have it lost and end up crashed on Gallia 4 for some reason. Those are definitely Guantanamo's and others in the background during the preview.

  9. Ok, I had a class to attend this morning in addition to an exam, so I couldn't watch this episode earlier. Then there were thunderstorms all day keeping me from using my computer until they finally lifted. I have since gotten through the 6 pages here, downloaded and watched ep. 12. Now the first think I need to say is.....

WTF!!?? (I have read everything in this thread now so I know I had to say it).

It's the frakking Macross!!! I never expected the Macross to show up on not-Earth. My head is swimming with ideas of what could explain this but I don't think I can. This is something that I think only waiting until next week will do for me. However I love reading speculation.

On the other hand I thought this episode was really well done. I find the Fast pack storage system intriguing. Also I kind of liked the way Ranka came along and tamed the Zentradi. Sometimes the power of music (not magic) is a good thing (I've said I don't care for Mac7 that much but I think they did this well in this ep). I have so many things I could say now but I has all pretty much been said and this episode was so astonishing I don't know how much more I can really say anyway.

    Good Episode.

  10. Maybe Yamato can make the 27 and they can re-enact the fierce battle between the 25 and 27 that I'm sure will eventually happen in the series (not counting the small struggle in ep. 9). That would be a Yamato/Bandai war there, personified in Macross Frontier valkyries.

  11. Any notion of a bad VF-X2 disc is a myth. I know this because I originally played the game on a US PS1 via the disc swap method and as the last mission was over, the screen would go to black. Playing the same game on a Japanese PS2, I never encountered the game freezing or going to black. Seeing the ending is dependent on playing the game on the proper hardware, a Japanese/Asian PS1/PS2. I have heard of someone getting to the ending with a mod chipped PS1, but I don't know the specifics of that instance. IIRC, the bad ending only rolls the credits (which are in English btw), but the good ending shows a static picture of Gilium's flight helmet over a gravestone. I have seen screen shots of the ending somewhere on the net but it's been so long I wouldn't know where I saw them and as I have seen the ending, I thought nothing more of it.

Makes me wonder why it does the screen going to black glitch on the PS1 emulator then... maybe some plugin I don't have is causing that problem. I just want it to scroll through so I can save it and then have access to the stuff unlocked for beating the game.

And I don't own any version of a PS1 so that is why I am using the emulator option.

  12. On the other hand... not many sci-fi shows DON'T have inertial dampers.

    Hooray Macross!

I was always under the impression that there was just ONE fusion reactor, and heat was transferred away from it to the engines' "combustion" chambers.

Either way, I agree the thrusters probably function more traditionally.

Heh true, never noticed the lack of inertial damper mentions. I guess then Macross ships either don't accelerate too fast or they use the same systems that make artificial gravity to counteract inertia (which is a form of theoretical inertial damper) and they just don't talk about it or refer to it as such.

Well while that is a possibility and certainly could be how it works, given the way everything is set up on a Valkyrie I think it makes most sense to assume that there is one fusion reactor per main engine and it is in the leg/engine piece. Although I don't really know what an Overtechnology fusion reactor would look like, I assume it isn't tiny so it just seems to me the logical place to put it is in the engine and there is two of those so I guess each have one and they combine to generate the total power of the valkyrie. I don't know where else the reactor/s could be on the valk to tell the truth, so it just makes sense to me to believe one in each leg. Now I can believe the main battery that the fusion reactor powers might be elsewhere (there probably is a battery that the reactor charges that can be used for things on the plane when the engines aren't active, like how a car battery is used almost).

  13. Good call MisaForgotten, that makes sense there. Zentradi didn't know what culture was and the Protodeviln are form another dimension so they never heard music before. I didn't say anything about the speakers though, I've been informed that they aren't actually playing sound in space. I just think the whole thing is weird.
