SMS007? is that alto's number or the one who painted it also happens to be a james bond fan?
a work of art. really like how the perspective stretches the nose making it look even sleeker than it already is.
007 is indeed Alto's number, even though he's been called Skull 4 his valk has always had that number on it.

From Bubblegum Crisis, she was a police officer who was also one of the Knight Sabers vigilantes, and able to get classified police info. In the same way, Luca can acquire special items, though I don't expect him to do it very often. Some fans see Nene as a "lightweight," there to scream and flail wildly at the enemy.
Ah, not even Macross at all. Well that is why I didn't know who it was. I have watched other animes of course, but I am not really a person who has watched a lot of animes in my lifetime. Lets just say I can count on two hands the number of animes I've watched in my lifetime probably (I'm not going to actually count them though). Anyway thanks for the information.

Ah, if that is a character from Mac7 then that is why I don't know who it is. If from something else, I guess I just forgot.

Luca is Nene, and he'll have his day, just like she did.
What was Nene's day, getting stuck with a paint round by Alto?

I have found a VF-25 (ozama) for sale on ebay....it is from a hong kong seller and is stated to be available for shipment 30 days from purchase...is this for real? Are the Bandai figures being released that soon?
No, it is best to ignore it. I have heard of people getting a hold of prototypes and selling them to customers who would bother (this actually happens a lot with Transformers toys), but if you want the full finished product and not a prototype then don't bother. Also we can't be sure it is even that, it could just as easily be a hoax or scam.
-
Yes, I suppose Luca's reason for being there is fairly believable. Just think how many times you've seen (or been) a summer intern who was there because of nepotism.
While entirely possible, I think Luca endeavors to be more than the rich kid getting a fun ride. Although you have to admit he hasn't been doing much, mostly sitting there and getting in trouble while others bail him out.

Wow, good find Kronnang, that is very nice. The engineer in me is gushing out like that bunch of Zentradi when Ranka came a' singing.

Kawamori did request changes during the designing process of the toy, and retconned one of his own designs...so if anything blame Kawamori at this point. No one should be surprised, this is the same guy that didn't want an animation accurate tan tinted VF-0A out by Yamato because to him it was always grey.
Thing is Takara is their main rival in Japan. Both make great toys, I'd love to see a valkyrie from Takara at some point, Masterpiece Starscream is my favorite Transformer.
Bandai is doing a good job so far, I eagerly await announcement and pics of the armored Ozma.
I agree on Masterpiece Starscream, one of the best things in my collection, and of course Kawamori himself designed that one, so I'm glad to say (as a person who currently doesn't actually own any valks) that I do own at least one thing designed by Kawamori.
Also agreed that Bandai seems to be doing excellent so far, my faith never waned. While armored pack doesn't interest me as much, I will want to see how it looks as well.

What about Alto and Ranka's flight in the 12th episode, in Sheryl's view there's a smoke trail on the VF, but in the close up of it zooming away(back view), it's not there.
That could have been for dramatic effect because we were supposed to see that Sherly could tell it was Alto flying and she knew she missed it. Without the smoke trail it might have been hard to tell she was looking at the plane.

*PSST* I didn't realize...sorry.
*PSST* It's cool, but still doesn't help my situation much.
EDIT: Ah, I decided to make it easier on myself. I forgot you can just link to an avatar instead of uploading (which I was more used to). So I uploaded it to something I can link to, problem solved.

Something to add to this generation talk, in one of the history lessons in the earlier episodes of Frontier.. episode 5 actually because it was talking about the fleet and it's islands, it says Macross Frontier is the 5th generation large scale colonial fleet (Shinsen subs says the and not a but like Gubaba said that can go both ways). Now of course this line may just be referring to colony fleets in general and not even count the original Macross class, and we know Macross 25 itself is a New Macross class vessel (it's kind of obvious) so this may not mean anything at all, but I figured I should point it out.

That gunpod being five barreled isn't new information. We've known that since ep.1 deculture edition, they showed a close-up of Ozma's gunpod during his fight with the lobster, which for the record did open then to fire as well. Truthfully I'm not sure of the purpose of the opening thing because the gunpod fires in fighter mode while closed it seems.

Wow just saw a new VF-29, is it true????
j/k kiss dum yeah!
Where did you see it?
Wait.. I remember something like this, I believe the response is "No it's from Kissdum!" or something like that.

Wh-hat?? so that was the plan all along? lead us to believe that Misa is back in misaforever's heart, but it was actually just a prelude to the klanklan slap scene? so ultimately it would still be klanklan, and misa would still be forgotten!what a ploy! a sly and almost perfect plan! but foiled by Major Focker! good catch sir!

The only problem being that other people have already used the Klan slappage of the VF-25G.

*PSST* Avatars automatically resize when you upload them...
*PSST*, it isn't the size of the pic, it is the file size that is too big... and it actually tells me I can't upload it because it is too big.

And:
Excuse me, but these kind of statements make me boggle.
Bandai (well, their design office Plex) has been designing transforming toys for at least as long as Takara, including really complicated ones (already in the early 1980s). Back then, they designed tons of really complicated toys for various sentai series and (especially) Machine Robo (known as Gobots overseas).
Suggesting that they do not know how to make complex yet show-accurate transforming toys 'a la Yamato' is....inane. Especially considering what they've turned out in the Soul of Chogokin line the last couple of years. Maybe you should pick up such nice transforming toys like (only mentioning the ones I have, other people might comment on other Bandai toys):
- SoC Xabungle: about the size of a 1/144 Gundam model kit, with diecast, tons of accessories, and an accurate transformation.
- SoC Dancougar: One of the first transforming SoCs, and a really fine one. It also strikes a nice 'average' between how Danny looked in the show and the vintage toy...
- SoC Irongear: This is like a giant big cool playset, with tons of opening panels, a buttload of small PVC Walker Machines, some pretty cool accessories, and of course it transforms.
Some cool vintage stuff:
- Flash King (from sentai series Flashman, 1986): Simple transformation, but you've got to admit that the way each jet becomes an arm and a leg is incredibly inventive (hint: it doesn't involve taking the jets apart...).
- Super Gobots Raizor and Nightfright (1985): realistic helicopters (okay, Raizor is a cross between an F-4 and a helicopter) that change into pretty well proportioned robots. See if you can figure out Raizor's transformation by only looking at the helicopter and robot modes... A lot of the later smaller Gobots are quite complicated too.
Also, Bandai /= Gundam. They might be the motor behind the franchise, but they're certainly more diverse than some people assume.
There's loads of other companies that have made and are making transforming toys, some good, some excellent, some bad, some trying-but-not-exactly succeeding. I'm not saying that Bandai is perfect (they're not), but they certainly aren't the retarded newcomers that some people here seem to think they are.
Dude to needed to see the post I made after the one you quoted, I never thought Bandai couldn't do it. I was just pointing out that they could easily get tips from someone else if they needed help, but I know they don't.

i felt that Ranka Attack was a much more powerful scene

Ranka attack is good, but I was looking for mecha goodness. However that pic is over 300 kb and the avatar settings won't accept something larger than 200 kb.. so it is too big I guess. Unless you can shorten it, I didn't really want the actual stabbing of Temjin anyway, I was more or less just looking for the VF-25F pulling the knife and charging (I'll still save the whole thing though so I have it, it is cool). Thanks either way Shun.
EDIT: Nvm that Shun I forgot I can link to it if I upload it somewhere else so I did that. Thanks again.

If they say there were others besides the Macross in 2009-10, then Frontier will drop A LOT in my esteem...VF-0? Fine, I can deal with it. The Supervision Army was created by the Protodeviln? All right...
But there were other Macross class ships during Space War I? No, I refuse to believe it.
And with that, I will drop the subject and patiently wait until next week.

Actually I didn't mean during SW1, that would be just stupid.. why wouldn't they have helped in the war? No I meant after SW1, or even after Mac+.

3 animated gifs of Ranka causing Zents to gush out and no one has made that gif of the VF-25F pulling it's knife and charging at Temjin yet... Well hopefully my restating of that will help a bit.

Sorry, didn't mean to drag you into this...I just thought it was funny that someone posted "Many of our Japanese speakers have noticed that it's ambiguous." and then said, "It was mentioned by Shun."
I think it this case, it comes down not to translation issues, but to what you think a first generation Macross ship is...I tend to think that means the SDF-1, and nothing else. Others seem to think that the Megaroad-01 is First Generation.
I wasn't thinking of the Megaroad ships as other first gen. When I heard first gen I though of other Macross class ships, that is battle cruisers like SDF-1 and not Megaroad, that may or may not have existed whether we knew about them or not. That is all I was saying. I think it still may be more likely to be the original Macross, but who knows.
-
I don't think they're bad, I've liked Bandai for years. I think they'll be find on the transforming aspect, but if they really did need help the people at Takara are pretty good at it by now, but I think they're good.

Also, since it was so close to their crash site, someone explain how they didn't see something that big when coming in? Even if Alto was struggling with the controls to try and land it, he how could you miss that? (I thought the valks were all fly-by-light ... the electronics go, I don't think it would matter at all how hard he pulled on the stick - it's going down like a rock).
I can't prove this but I too thought the Valks used fly-by-wire systems so maybe he had an emergency kill switch to switch to some sort of manual control for getting down. However I have my doubts even of that, it seems unlikely you could manually control such an aircraft like that. I think Alto got lucky with his landing that the air guided him down gently.

It's been debated a lot whether ot not the events of DYRL and/or the TV series are official. Here is what Kawamori himself said in an interview regarding the canonity of both DYRL and SDF Macross...
Interviewer: It seems many American fans tend to thing of the Macross movie as the "official" Macross continuity. What's your opinion?
Kawamori: Consider real history. Many different stories have been created based on the same historical facts, haven't they? For example, there are many stories about World War II. It's the same thing with Macross. The real Macross is out there, somewhere. If I tell the story in the length of a TV series, it looks one way, and if I tell it as a movie-length story, it's organized another way.

Makes perfect sense to me actually. He refers to revisionist history. It all depends on who is telling the story and how it is being told.

My guess is that Bandai found out that designing a "simple transformation" Valk, while still having it look good enough for the discerning standards of todays consumers is not as simple a task as they expected.
Designing a simple transformation toy that looks average or that looks crap is easy. Designing one that looks good in all three modes is actually a lot more difficult than most would expect.
With Gundams its easy, cus' most transforming Gundams are just bend the leg at the knees, point feet down, rotate waist 180 degress and attach the shield over the head. Valks in general are a whole different kettle of fish and several orders of magnitude more complex in transformation.
Graham
Perhaps Bandai can get transforming tips from Takara, they've been dealing with Transforming toys for almost 25 years now. The best and biggest ones are really complex sometimes and even the small ones are not half back most of the time (depends on which line of TFs though). Of course a Valkyrie is very different from a TF however it is not like they haven't crossed paths before (there are still some Macross-ignorant TF fans that wonder why Jetfire's transformation is so nice and makes him still look cooler than the original Starscream).

Don't give any of them any ideas in case they are the kind of people that actually read fan comments on the internet for ideas. Of course the likelihood of Japanese show writers getting ideas from an American hosted message board presented in English is unlikely.
