  1. The commentary track on the ADV Megazone discs are full of errors. The ADV people may be old school fans, but they are also full of inaccuracies.

Is the Aramaki interview you guys are referring to the one with Kakinuma as well from the ADV Mospeada DVD set that I transcribed on my old Masterforce.org website?

    Here's that interview: http://web.archive.org/web/20050316002800/...icinterview.txt

No, it's not, though that is an interesting read. It's an old interview I read about 3 or 4 years ago online. I've been looking for it ever since, but haven't been able to find it. He went more in-depth on MOSPEADA than I've seen in other interviews, except for the one with the MOSPEADA DVDs, and had sketches from the AD Patrol design stage.

  2. Just order the Proto Garland, hopefully will get it in 2 weeks time.

I still think the 'red' Garland looks better though, if only it has no 'design' and 'qc' problem... <_<

I actually really really want to order the Proto Garland, but their shipping estimate is around $40, which seems really high to me. What did you actual shipping turn out to be, if you don't mind saying?

  3. If you listen to the commentary track on the first Megazone 23 dvd by ADV, they talk about the potential Megazone 23 was going to have as a TV series and would be a prequel to that of Mospeada or something.

Yes, it's on that commentary track, and I think I read it in an old Aramaki interview as well.

  4. I know about how MOSPEADA went through several incarnations, starting as AD Police (not the Bubblegum Crisis AD Police), then eventually becoming what we know of as MOSPEADA.

I also know that Megazone 23 was originally intended to not be on a spaceship, but rather underground, as the one last city surviving after a nuclear war, but was then changed to have space action sequences.

What I can't really picture is how Megazone 23 was originally intended to be a sequel to MOSPEADA (which has been cited in a number of places).

Anyone have any more info or a better understanding of this?

  5. Oooh, I don't own a detolf anymore but I suspect you'll have problems. If my tape measure pops up suddenly I'll try to give you better dimensions. the wing span is pretty huge so even if it would fit length-wise it might prove problematic width wise.

The greenie is going to be volume 3... it's probably the one I'm looking forward to the most as well. The instructions that come with the blue Beta show that Lunk will be the guy on the book.

Sorry if this was asked before, but does it show who will be on the book for the Shadow Beta?

  6. 2) I just rewatched the last 5 minutes of Robotech's TNG to try and remember what note Scott leaves on, turns out Sera (Sorji) has her own ride armor paint scheme variant. My hope is piqued for a future limited edition (it look's like it's the same model as Rand's).

I'll admit I haven't watched Robotech: TNG in a good few years, but I just watched all of the original Genesis Cimber MOSPEADA about a week or two ago, and honestly don't remember this at all... wait, as I'm thinking about it more now, is this in the very very end when you see that she stayed on Earth, as you see her ride off on a bike? Darn, I think you're right...

Anyone have a screen cap of this?

  7. Slightly off topic here, but there are two upcoming anime which I am very excited about: "Viper's Creed" and "Rideback" (as anyone who knows me will attest, I'm a bit obsessed with variable bikes).

Both of these, I believe, premier in January.

Does anyone know if there is any way to see these, living in the USA, when they come out, or do I just have to wait for a DVD release?

    Thanks.

  8. I should have clarified. The dark smoke screens look great on black bikes. I had a FZR400, FZR600, two FZR1000’s and a 98’ R1 custom painted back in the day all black with smoke shields. Loved em’ Yours looks great too.

But a red bike with a red screen……I think I just threw up a bit.

Ok, I'll definitely agree with you on that. Red bikes with red screens... blue bikes with blue screens... green bikes with green screens... might as well buy a half plastic Buell.

    FZR400, FZR600, FZR1000, and an R1? Wow, you've got great taste. I'm a Yamaha junkie.

  9. Thanks for the pics. The release date is great!

I just did a google search for pics of the CM and out of a billion picks not one good ¾ shot from the side. Go figure.

At this point I am torn between the two. I think they both look cool. I’m not buying both though, LOL. I sure would rather have a blue one too (for the kid in me) but the red ones can be stolen for almost no money at all. Too bad the red one has the red canopy. It just looks crappy to me, drives me nuts. I don’t care if it’s anime accurate or not, red “windscreens” remind me of sportbikes with colored screens which I think is the cheezest thing you can ever do to one (I race them, I have nit picky issues).

Though generally I'd agree with you, I personally like the look of the dark smoke windscreen on my Raven R1.

  10. I just remembered I've got a MPC Blue Alpha in it's box somewhere around here. Don't care much for it. I might be convinced to sell it. There MIGHT be pieces missing, I don't remember (I can check) but I don't believe any pieces were missing or broken. I just wasn't impressed as it's the crappy first Alpha complete with potato-chip shape in fighter mode and droopy landing gear.

    Vostok 7

If you could check and let me know, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks!

  11. there are still a couple of online retail places that have them but as everyone else has said..... be prepared to pay lots....

    try this link

    blue alpha

    Good God! $300!?!?!?!?!

Some of the other stuff is insane too. $175 for the bookends that are available on Robotech.com for $99... and other similar things...

Well, I appreciate the link. That you very much. Let me know if you see it anywhere for... more reasonable. I fully expect to have to pay a premium, but $300 is way too much. Rather put that money towards a a couple different Garlands.

  12. Scott's blue MPC Alpha is sold out everywhere. There's some conspiracy theories that Toynami never made 15K of them and may some day release the rest. For now though eBay is pretty much your only place to find one and expect to spend way too much.

Darn. I was hoping that there was some online retailer that somehow still had some stock left. I knew I should've sucked it up and bought it when it first came out.

MOSPEADA was just too influential a cartoon for me when I was a kid... can't say no.

  13. Ok, after reading this thread for weeks... planning on saving my money for the various MOSPEADAs... watching Genesis Climber MOSPEADA on dvd...

I took the plunge and ordered an alpha and a beta. I say alpha and beta, since I ordered them from Robotech.com.

I ordered the Shadow Alpha and the Blue Beta. I plan on getting the Shadow Beta too, when it comes out. Meanwhile, I guess it's time to start searching for the Blue Alpha to match. Does anyone have any ideas where I could find one? It's Toynami, right? So a Toynami one will fit, but if I wanted the Robotech-labeled one, is Robotech.com (or possibly eBay) the only place to get it, or does anyone else resell Robotech items?

    Thanks.

  14. Thanks.

I had the 4 original BGC poseable figures from Atelier Sai. 2 sets each. But the joint quality isn't good.

After that, I bought the revoltech stuff. Same disappointment. Then I bought the figma stuff. Same issues. Before all these, I had a number of Valks. Same sadness. So far no poseable Japanese toys have good quality joints. (except maybe the poseable dolfies and dollstuff but I won't know since I don't have 1)

So, to cut a long story short, I stopped buying poseable Japanese toys, including the Yamato Motoslaves. (I'm glad I did wait until after the reviews come out, which isn't very positive. Also, as expected from Yamato, they are reissuing the Motoslave, now in a brand new shiny metalic paint scheme. Re-issues in new colors seemed to be Yamato's favourite activity. Just look at their recent Ignis release or their Cobra-Kai sculpted Kanu)

Guess I will wait for the recommendations of my peers here in Macrossworld and other figure review sites before plonking down my hard-earned dollars for Yamato's Motoslaves.

Which Revoltechs are you talking about? The busou shinki stuff?

    What is the figma stuff?

I'm VERY tempted to get the metallic Yamato motoslaves, since I don't have any BGC figures, though I think they're identical, just different colors (unlike MOSPEADA where we have actual different designs). You'd recommend against the Yamato stuff though?

  15. Pretty sure that info is wrong. The original Japanese dates were Stig in November, Ray in March with no dates announced for the other two. Since then Stig has been delayed two months so it's quite possible Ray will also be delayed. Since Ray was all but done he may still hit the March target but I can't see a way in which Yellow would somehow be released before him... Yellow requires quite a bit of retooling.

There may be a lot wrong here, as this is the site using the old non-Beagle picture for Stig/Scott too. However, as they're priced a full $50 less than anyone else... worth keeping an eye on.

  16. Any mention of Houquet? That's the only 1 I want. I only collect girl figures of teams. Cheaper, since there's usually only 1 (e.g. Jun in Gatchaman), unless it's an all-girl team, of course.

And yeah, I think hot pink is cool as a ridearmor colour.

    http://www.toywiz.us/search.php?search=rob...ew&section=

Scott in January, Lancer in March, Rand in May.

So, are you buying all of the Bubblgegum Crisis motoslaves?

  17. Me. But....I'm going to wait for others to review this thing. So expensive! But I've got my money ready for when I decide to get it. So is beagle doing all the characters or just stick?

Glad toynami decided to release the beta. The end of the world must be coming very soon for them to do that. Too bad the alpha are crap though. If only the CMs had the connection thing done properly. Oh well I am still happy with the CMs I own.

I forget which site I saw it on last week, but one of them, when you search for "MOSPEADA" shows the Stick one shipping in June, then I think the Ray one in March, and Yellow in June, if I remember correctly. No pictures though.
